Nadim was a successful entrepreneur, happily married, and with two wonderful children. But the dream life was shattered when he took his daughter Natasha and her best friend on holiday to France. Tragically, Natasha had an anaphylactic reaction shortly after takeoff after ingesting sesame seeds in her sandwich, from which she never recovered. Subsequently, Nadim and his wife Tanya founded the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, and their campaigning - for which they were both awarded an OBE by the Queen - has led to changes in the law. Nadim's journey to faith through this horrendous experience is deeply touching, and God has opened doors of real influence and opportunity for him to witness gently to the Prince of Peace in many different contexts. Ekonomist Vito Komac je precejšen del življenja preživel kot poslovnež, kot samostojni delavec v kulturi, pa fotograf, svetovalec v podjetjih in raziskovalec poslovnih navad. Leta 2022 je objavil svoj prvi kriminalni roman z naslovom Umor v domu ostarelih, sledili so še Odvetnikova avantura, Ugrabljena in Odvetnikovi grehi. Lotil pa se je tudi zgodovinskega romana s preprostim, a povednim naslovom Železničar in ga v podnaslovu opisal kot zgodovinski roman o življenju železničarja – kurjača in ubitega borca za delavske pravice Franceta Perdana. Obsežna stvaritev je bila najprej napisana kot predloga za filmski scenarij ob šestdeseti obletnici železničarske stavke na Zaloški cesti. Nastala je na podlagi pričevanj Perdanovih sorodnikov, njegovih stanovskih tovarišev in zgodovinskih virov. Leta 1920 je namreč po manifestaciji delavskega boja za svoje pravice na Zaloški cesti v Ljubljani v spopadu z orožniki obležalo sedem mrtvih štrajkačev, na begu pa še šest. Glavni junak, France Perdan, ni bil voden kot ena od žrtev, kot tudi ne še nekaj drugih. Pripoved Komačevega romana Železničar je postavljena na začetek dvajsetega stoletja, v čas Avstro-Ogrske, prve svetovne vojne in nekaj let po njej. Dogajanje je osredotočeno na tri prizorišča: na vožnje z vlakom, na železničarjev dom in na gostilne, v katerih se delavci seznanjajo z idejami upora in revolucije. Našteta prizorišča so tudi trije nivoji, s katerimi pisatelj niza svoje sporočanje in jih spretno prepleta. Franc Perdan, ki si služi dokaj boren zaslužek na potovanjih z vlakom, nikoli ne ve, kdaj se bo vrnil in za koliko se mu bodo vožnje in nadomeščanja tovarišev podaljšale. V hrupu stroja se pogovarja s strojevodjem in oblikuje svojo osebnost, ko se seznanja z idejami o boljšem življenju. Poročen je s Francko in imata dva sinova. Življenje doma je prepleteno sprva s pogovori o zaslužku, kasneje pa tudi s prevratniškimi idejami in bojaznijo, da oblast poseže in edinega, ki preživlja družino, zapre. Na tem nivoju pisatelj opisuje življenje, v katerem ni prav dosti nežnosti in radosti, saj gre zgolj za preživetje. S tem v zvezi je nemara pomenljiv stavek, ki morda edinkrat poseže v intimo: „Slekla sta se do spodnjega perila in legla na posteljo in si bila prijazna.“ Najobsežnejši nivo pripovedi pa je seveda tisti, s katerim Vito Komac pričara prebujajočo se delavsko zavest, ki narekuje, da je vendarle treba nekaj spremeniti in si izboljšati življenje. Dogajanje je postavljeno v gostilno, kjer se proletarci in tudi kmetje pod krinko kartanja in zmernega pitja seznanjajo z dogajanjem po svetu, še posebej z revolucijo v Rusiji. Skrivoma si predajajo zapise z revolucionarno tematiko in se bodrijo s priložnostnimi govori določenih posameznikov, ki netijo skupno zavest tovarištva in boja za lepši jutri. Franc Perdan počasi prevzema vodilno vlogo, kar kasneje tudi predrago plača z življenjem. Pisatelj svojo stvaritev konča s podatkom, da za njim ostajata sinova, ki sta dovolj seznanjena s svojimi pravicami do vsaj dostojnega življenja. Knjigi sta dodani spremni besedi Dore Vodopivec in Minke Jerebič. Obe izpostavljata vzorno podane napetosti, ki so se pojavile s prebujanjem delavskega razreda, in dodajata, da takšen boj še traja. Roman Vita Komaca postavlja v ospredje zgodovino predvsem skozi govore in zapiske o revoluciji, česar je morda za tekoče branje kar preveč. Pisatelj piše o zgodovini na osnovi idej in nekoliko manj na podlagi dogajanja. Vsekakor pa je roman Železničar smelo pisanje v slogu žlahtnega socialnega realizma.

He also held several voluntary positions to help raise the profile of the sector to Government and regulators, including Chair of the UK Government's Events Industry Board for the Department of Culture Media and Sport, member of the Department for Business and Trades Professional Business Services Committee, and Chair of UKEVENTS a partnership of all leading associations in the UK event industry. Exerting maximum influence on stakeholders, helping companies navigate regulatory complexity and promoting industry best practice are three big jobs that the UK consumer healthcare industry association, PAGB, has set itself for the next five years. In the last five years, PAGB has made significant headway with UK government, reports PAGB CEO Michelle Riddalls, establishing the economic and social value of self-care and ensuring that self-care is part of the UK's national healthcare strategy. Rx-to-OTC switch has been a major area of success, Michelle notes in this episode of the Over the Counter podcast. The Department of Health and Social Care recently published a list of switches it would like to see applications for, and PAGB is now facilitating members to take advantage of this opportunity. But there's always more work to be done. Switch involves significant risk, which PAGB is trying to reduce through further work with policy makers, and with a new government, the association must ensure that self-care remains high up on the agenda for politicians. Since early childhood, Jacquelin has had numerous experiences as well as telepathic communications with star beings, light beings, angels and interdimensional beings. We speak with Dr. Kim Penberthy today who joined us from the University of Virginia. Kim wears many hats. She is a professor of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She is also a board certified clinical psychologist and conducts research, teaches, and provides clinical care at UVA in psychiatry and the cancer center. She also studies and researches after death communication. She lived on a farm in a house that witnessed Civil War strife, with her mother a nurse and her father a would-be farmer surgeon. Exposed to life and death on a farm, she began at an early age asking herself and her parents metaphysical questions – long before she became a clinician and research scientist. It's one of my three-day events that I'm running, and as I always do, I have everyone gather in a circle one at a time, I have everyone say their name and say one fun fact that would not be on their bio, so we go around, and person after person is introducing themselves, and we get to the last person who says, “Hi. I'm Sandy Zabarsky, and I just got out of prison.” The whole room goes silent and you can honestly hear a pin drop. Everyone's eyes are just on her, and for a split second, you can almost feel their assumptions kicking in. Like, what does she mean? Is she really just out of prison? Did I even hear that right? Then, she continues and says, “I've been an educator for most of my career. I work in the juvenile justice system, and I recently retired, so yes, I have just gotten out of prison, so to speak, and I spent my entire career there.” In that moment, the meaning of her words completely changed. The whole room, the feeling of the room, changes because what she says, it makes her work relevant and completely has a plot twist in the middle of this exercise because what mattered to her more than anything else is that it wasn't only about working in prison, but for her, it was helping the kids get their GEDs. That was really important because she knew that a piece of paper could mean the difference between them having a completely different life story and repeating the same pattern. Sandy Zabarsky, also known as my mom, helped me in many, many, many events throughout my career, helping us really look at storytelling in a different way. She helped me realize that storytelling isn't just about entertainment or something to read as a book here or a movie there. Instead, storytelling is about how we shape reality, and that's exactly what my guest today does. Professor Dr. Ger Graus OBE is a globally recognized education leader, known for his innovative approach to children's learning. Having held key roles at KidZania and the Children's University, he serves as a professor and advisor to various global education organizations, and has received numerous accolades, and he understands today's aspect of storytelling better than most people.
