The complete audiobook iss available for purchase at Audible.com: voicesoftoday.net/mnd A Midsummer Night's Dream By William Shakespeare Narrated by Linda Barrans, Emma Faye, Mark Crowle-Groves, Kendra Murray, Blaise Doran, Tom Saer, Claudia Anglade, Gary D. MacFadden, Marty Krz and PJ Morgan Together with The Tempest, A Midsummer Night's Dream is one of Shakespeare's most magical plays. One night, two parties creep from Athens into the surrounding forest. One includes sweethearts Lysander and Hermia, fleeing from Athenian law and the disapproval of Hermia's father to get married. In pursuit is Demetrius, the suitor of Hermia favored by her father, and the doleful Helena, formerly affianced to Demetrius. Six tradesman (the “rude mechanicals”) make up the other party. They hope to present a play at the upcoming nuptials of Theseus, Duke of Athens, and are seeking a private place for rehearsal. Surveying these disparate interlopers are the forest fairies, whose King Oberon and Queen Titania are engaged in a ferocious marital dispute. A magical love potion throws all into disarray. Attachments are disrupted, new ones are formed—but finally, conjugal harmony is established between lovers. In the last act the “rude mechanicals” win their chance to present their clumsy dramatic piece to the amusement and satisfaction of the aristocratic audience.

As they still deal with the aftermath of the “Rig Situation” the party makes the final steps of this arc. They successfully get Kasimir what he needs from the Amber Temples, but there is immense doubt amongst the party as to whether this will help or hinder their overall plan. Kyver reveals that he made a deal with Orcus, and Arguile then reveals that he has been given a gift from someone called Elrin. Tensions are thick in the air and a frustrated Zechs goes to his room to find a mysterious doorway has appeared in his room. Not only does he end up in the feywild, in the presence of King Oberon himself, but is given back his memories in full. This concerns the Journeyman for several reasons that she mentions to Galahad. Eventually, they finally make their way toward the Order of the Silver Dragon. Here, the party encounters many deadly enemies as well as memories most have forgotten. Particularly Galahad about his first meeting with his mentor Antonius. Which, hearing the name, Glad brings up her late husband who was Antonius' best friend and, to her, the cause of his death. After a lengthy discussion, the group tables further talk until after they retrieve the sun sword. The owner of this sword, Vladimir Horngaard, and his men will not give it easily, and through this conflict, a few party members are told that in one day, would have revenant on their tails. Less they return a vital item to the Order. With energy drained, and night quickly approaching, they make haste towards Vallaki as they can hear the howls of wolves quickly approaching. Thankfully, the wolves are in alignment with them and hate Strahd, potentially proving to be allies. While rest is needed, Vallaki proves to keep the party quite busy. Will they ever find their way out of Barovia? Will they ever rid this land of the Curse of Strahd? Stay tuned for the next part of our Arc Recaps… “The Curse of Strahd”. Enjoy! Magic, mischief, and mismatched lovers are at cross purposes when the Santa Fe Opera premieres one of Shakespeare's most beloved comedies. Choreographer and dancer Reed Luplau says there's no better setting for A Midsummer Night's Dream than our glorious desert stage.  Host Jane Trembley learns more about Reed's fascinating journey from his mother's dance studio on Australia's West Coast to some of the world's biggest venues. Reed also shares insight into his preparations for playing Puck, the fairy whose pranks cause so much confusion, as well as his process for crafting stories through movement. The conversation ends with Reed's must-see, do, and eat recommendations when in Santa Fe, a list that's sure to please locals and first-timers alike.  “We're really trying to see and push how far Puck can be... how dangerous he could be, but with an innocence to him,” Reed says, offering listeners a glimpse into the collaborative relationship between choreographer and director Netia Jones. In his quest to bring fresh energy to Shakespeare's 400-year-old original, Reed gave thorough consideration to the complex, often cheeky relationship between his impish fairy and King Oberon, to whom he is the court jester. Puck's ethereal nature and juvenile antics may prompt comparisons to Peter Pan, but Reed has another character on his mind heading into rehearsals: Randall Boggs, the shape-shifting villain from Monsters, Inc. “I don't know if I'm giving too much away,” he laughs, “but, for now, I think it's playful, but it's not in an evil way.” Although A Midsummer Night's Dream marks Reed's first Shakespearian experience, this accomplished, joyful performer is no stranger to Santa Fe. He made his debut here in 2013 playing Bosie in Santa Fe Opera's world premiere of Oscar, a residency that instilled in him a great appreciation for the desert. His list of area favorites includes Lake Abiquíu for outdoor adventure and dining on the patio at Gabriel's. As fond as he is of those spots, Reed's most cherished memories of Santa Fe are those made on The Crosby Theatre stage. “The acoustics at Santa Fe are just incredible! My favorite part is the water,” he says, referencing the small reflecting pool in front of the stage, often lovingly referred to as the moat. “It's so gorgeous, and it adds another element to the scenery of where you are.”   Listeners can find Reed's list of Santa Fe favorites in the credits below.   CREDITS Destination Santa Fe Opera is a Santa Fe Opera podcast, produced and edited by Andrea Klunder at The Creative Impostor Studios.
