This week's guest is a multi multi MULTI hyphenate talent in the action industry! John Kreng is a Stunt Coordinator, Fight Choreographer, Stand Up Comedian, Author, Actor, Video Game Designer/Producer, and Stuntman. Pull up an imaginary chair and enjoy the chat as he and Adrian discuss his supremely successful career.
You never know who you are going to meet at a Hollywood Job, and what kind of unexpected path you are going to take after a chance meeting. I started working at Disney in the mid 2000s and that is where I met JOHN KRENG JOHN KRENG was real character, mild mannered office person at work, but just like me was a wise ass off the clock. Little did I know there was a reason for that turn it on after work spirit. John was a black Belt karate fighter, an up and coming Stunt Coordinator- but above all was a world class comedian who came up through the world famous Comedy Store on the Sunset Strip. He also has a comedy special on MTV. Everyone wears many hats in Hollywood and he had tried on about as many as I had, so we went to lunch and got along really well. Soon I was taking a comedy class with Amy Poelher's Upright Citizens Brigade and John was mentoring me as I tried to find my voice and my persona at the comedy clubs around LA.
Join your friends, Marco and Paul for another bonus episode. This time we’re talking about 2018’s sensational movie, Lowlife. Joining us is none other than it’s director and co-writer, Ryan Prows! This interview was a blast and possibly the funniest one to date. We side track a little here and there but we learn a lot about what it took to make this movie and the spirit behind it’s stories. Ryan has really nailed an amazing piece of film here and we can’t wait for what’s next! Stay tuned during the outro music for bonus clips with Ryan’s pitch for a Star Wars Prequel re-boot and a Superman re-boot along with some other tom-foolery. All music (except our intro) by Kreng from the Lowlife OST. Our special guest is KRENG, the Belgian theatre/film composer who has broken into the world of vinyl soundtracks with his first feature score, to the hugely enjoyable comic horror flick COOTIES. As winter approaches I find myself waking up to darker hours. There is something special about these early mornings, when the first rays of light are still deep asleep. It is only appropriate that I saturate my daily rituals with the right type of music – the music which seems to originate from a deep well filled with eerie vapor that is Miasmah, one of my all-time favorite labels, run by Erik K Skodvin (aka Svarte Greiner) out of Berlin. Next year the label will mark its 10-year anniversary, with the appropriate celebrations starting earlier, taking place this year at STUK, Leuven and FLUISTER, Dordrecht in BE/NL on October 9th and 10th featuring Kreng (w/Gareth Davis and Eric Thielemans), James Welburn, Simon Scott and Svarte Greiner. Those who cannot make it out to Belgium or Netherlands will be no doubt satisfied with this mix. For full track listing and more information about this mix, please visit headphonecommute.com
I am hoping that by now you have already learned about my benefit compilation, '... and darkness came'. If not, consider this your official invite. Kreng, by the way, is also on the list of confirmed artists, contributing an original track, The Midnight Hour. Of course, I can keep talking about that for hours! Meanwhile, I am honored to present you with an exclusive Headphone Commute Mix from Pepijn Caudron. The cover art of this mix features a photo I took of my vinyl box set copy of Works For Abattoir Fermé 2007 – 2011, so you know I am a fan! I’m really thankful to Miasmah for introducing the world to this wonderful artist! For full track listing and more information about this mix, please visit headphonecommute.com
