With 12 races completed and 12 still to go, we're halfway through what has been a spectacular 2025 season. Former Renault driver and F1TV commentator, Jolyon Palmer, and F1 correspondent Lawrence Barretto, join Tom Clarkson to discuss what we've learnt from the first half of the year and what we can expect from the second half. With Laurent Mekies replacing Christian Horner as Red Bull Team Principal and CEO, what's on his to-do list? Can he persuade Max Verstappen to stay with the team? And will he be able to rejuvenate Yuki Tsunoda and resolve their second car issues? Oscar Piastri leads Lando Norris by eight points at the top of the Drivers' Standings. But after two wins on the bounce for Lando, who goes into the second half of this epic title fight with more momentum? And where will this title be won and lost over the next 12 races? Also up for debate: are Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton starting to turn a corner with their car? Can they fight for a race victory after a winless season so far? And is the uncertainty around his Mercedes future actually ‘galvanising' George Russell? Plus, after scoring more points than Red Bull in the last four races, could Sauber challenge Williams for P5 in the Constructors' Championship?
F1: Red Bull Driver Yuki Tsunoda of Japan Finishes 15th in British Grand Prix
Do you know Carlos Sainz? We do! It's our early F1 the Movie review. Join Patrick and Brian on the Hard Compound this week and you'll get both our review of F1 the Movie plus our race coverage for the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix. F1 gets the Hollywood treatment. Is that a good thing? What F1 the Movie got right and where they missed. No race for old men? In Austria, Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, and Nico Hulkenberg all shine. But what an awful showing for Red Bull at their home Grand Prix. But, wait. There's more. Liam Lawson makes our top 5! Meanwhile, Yuki Tsunoda continues to flounder. Finally, a shout out (again) to F1 Kids. They do such a great job. Text Brian or PatrickAnd as always, thank you for listening to everybody's most beloved father and son F1 podcast!
From grid chaos to cat chat, the Austrian GP weekend delivered!! This week, we're breaking down everything from Carlos Sainz Sr.'s FIA step-back, to the F1 Movie smashing $144M in its opening weekend, and the Austrian GP sticking around until 2041

F1 correspondent and F1TV presenter Lawrence Barretto, and Brazilian journalist Julianne Cerasoli, join Tom Clarkson in the Spielberg paddock to discuss Lando Norris's victory at the Austrian Grand Prix. How did Lando bounce back from Canada? What did we learn from his epic wheel-to-wheel battle with teammate and title rival Oscar Piastri? And is this a ‘turning point' in their championship fight? George Russell and Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff reignited rumours that Max Verstappen could join the team with some interesting comments to the media over the weekend. How likely is that for 2026? What would Lawrence and Julianne do if they were advising Max in this situation? Ferrari had their best Sunday of the season with Charles Leclerc finishing P3 and Lewis Hamilton P4. With three podiums from the last four races, are they heading in the right direction? And after Lewis wanted to try a one-stop strategy, are the team ‘scared' to make those calls? Also on the agenda: Julianne tells us why Gabriel Bortoleto's first points in Formula 1 is such big news in Brazil, Racing Bulls Team Principal Laurent Mekies joins the pod to reflect on a ‘masterclass' from Liam Lawson after his career-best P6, and do Red Bull need to re-evaluate their second seat again following another challenging weekend for Yuki Tsunoda? McLaren conquered Spielberg and Red Bull walked away with nothing.Climb the ladder with me over on Patreon: https://patreon.com/lawvsIn this more raw race report than usual, there was a lot to unpack despite the leader of the race ultimately remaining the same from qualifying. McLaren's pace was without doubt at the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix as Lando Norris sealed victory. This means that Oscar Piastri's championship advantage is down to 15 points and with Max Verstappen being sent out of the race by Kimi Antontelli, his championship defense looks almost impossible to claw back. Behind him Liam Lawson's flawless one-stop carried Racing Bulls into the constructors fight for sixth while Sauber's upgrades let Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg harass an ailing George Russell and his Mercedes. Ferrari stayed steady with a top-four double finish and shut Red Bull out on home ground. Fernando Alonso's crafty one-stop proved age is only a number as Lance Stroll and Alpine faded, Williams burned through another reliability horror and Yuki Tsunoda's tough weekend summed up Red Bull's worst home race in years, if not ever.

A career best Formula One finish hasn't completely banished the disappointment of an early season demotion for Liam Lawson. He's come home sixth at the Austrian Grand Prix. That made the Kiwi the best of the Red Bull-backed drivers, including Yuki Tsunoda - who replaced Lawson at Red Bull Racing just two races into the season. Motorsport commentator Bob McMurray joined Piney to discuss. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Red Bull's grip on Formula 1 is starting to slip...and not even Max Verstappen can save them.Climb the ladder with me on Patreon: https://patreon.com/lawvsThe Spanish Grand Prix marked a turning point for Red Bull...and not a good one. Exposing rare operational mistakes, growing frustration for Max Verstappen and renewed questions about team stability not long after looking sorted in Japan. With Verstappen losing ground in the drivers' standings and Red Bull only fourth in the constructors', Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren are closing the gap fast. Strategic errors, an inconsistent RB21 and headline-making incidents have fueled speculation about Verstappen's future AGAIN and put Yuki Tsunoda's seat under constant review, despite promises his seat would be secure in 2025. The team's historic strength, operational sharpness, has faltered...magnified by key staff departures and public contradictions between Christian Horner and Helmut Marko. This video breaks down the perfect storm brewing inside Red Bull, from leadership rifts and car troubles to the relentless pressure on both drivers. Join Patrick and Brian on the Hard Compound for complete analysis of the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix.Max Verstappen proves he's no Michael Jordan. More like Tiger Woods after his fall from grace. Another wild F1 weekend in which Spain shook up the championship...but NOT in the way you thought it would. Climb the ladder with me over on Patreon: https://patreon.com/lawvsMcLaren extended their dominance with a commanding one-two finish, as Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris pulled further ahead in the championship battle while Verstappen's title hopes took a big hit after late-race chaos and a costly penalty. Sauber delivered one of the feelgood stories of the weekend, jumping up the standings thanks to a vintage drive from Nico Hulkenberg and some smart strategy calls, lifting Sauber off the bottom for the first time in over a year! Mercedes showed revived pace as George Russell stormed back into the top five and Charles Leclerc's relentless charge helped Ferrari leap to second in the team standings and back-to-back podiums. Breakout rookie performances from Isack Hadjar and steady points from Pierre Gasly kept things interesting in the midfield, while Fernando Alonso brought the Spanish crowd to their feet by scoring his first points of the season in front of his home fans. Not every team left Barcelona happy. Lance Stroll's absence sparked fresh rumors about his future and Williams unraveled with penalties and damaged front wings, even more than they had expected. No love for Carlos Sainz at his home race. Haas struggled for pace and strategy, while Yuki Tsunoda's tough luck continued despite flashes of speed. Don't miss this full breakdown of every winner and loser from the Spanish Grand Prix.
Did the new technical directive really make headway for anyone in this race? And should the safety car restart have happened earlier? (Pardon the lack of audio punch in Kunal's track!) Before all else, did Max Verstappen deliberately ram into George Russell as the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix came to a conclusion? He received a 10-second time penalty for "causing a collision", but was Verstappen angry at Russell's driving or Red Bull's decision to put him on the hard tyre at the Safety Car restart, or both? But maybe the fans were entertained because they voted for Max Verstappen as the "Driver of the Day" for the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix. At the front, McLaren's Oscar Piastri dominated the race proceedings to score his 5th F1 win of the season. Lando Norris had yet another messy start, while Charles Leclerc ran a different tyre strategy to score yet another podium. Lots of movements in the Drivers' and Constructors' championship after the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix. - Fernando Alonso scored points at home - his first points of the season! He's the 18th driver to score points in 2025. - Isack Hadjar jumps Esteban Oon for 9th- Nico Hulkenberg jumps to 11th in the WDC, ahead of Carlos Sainz. - Pierre Gasly jumps Yuki Tsunoda for 14th. - Ferrari jumps to 2nd place in the Constructors' Championship - 165 points- Mercedes is down to 3rd (159 points), Red Bull Racing are 4th (144 points) - Racing Bulls jumps Haas for 7th place (28 points).- Sauber is up to 8th - up 2 places! It was a race of some of the nicest overtakes this season, and controversial ones too. Episode Show Notes: May 22, 2025 Welcome to the Scuderia F1 Podcast! Tonight we're recapping the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix weekend was a thrilling and controversial affair, ignited by Lando Norris's sensational pole position, narrowly edging out Charles Leclerc. However, the grid was dramatically reshaped by multiple penalties, notably Lewis Hamilton's three-place drop due to an "inaccurate radio message" leading to impeding Max Verstappen, and Lance Stroll's cumulative demotion to the very back. Race day saw Norris convert his pole into a commanding victory, marking his first Monaco win and second of the season, contributing to a fantastic double podium for McLaren. The drama continued with early incidents like Gabriel Bortoleto hitting the wall and Pierre Gasly colliding with Yuki Tsunoda, highlighting Monaco's unforgiving nature. Adding to the controversy, George Russell received a drive-through penalty for skipping the Nouvelle Chicane and controversially ignoring team advice to return the position, claiming Alex Albon was driving "erratically". The new mandatory two-pit stop rule also sparked debate, with drivers like Carlos Sainz calling the race "manipulated" and Max Verstappen stating it "didn't do anything" for racing at the front, ultimately shifting chaos to strategic manipulation rather than on-track overtakes. This week on The Auto Action RevLimiter, Andrew Clarke and the crew unpack a wild weekend of motorsport – starting with Max Verstappen's gritty win at Imola. How did McLaren not convert raw pace into victory? Was it strategy, tyre wear… or the problem of having 2 drivers in the fight? Red Bull didn't have that issue – especially after Yuki Tsunoda's monster crash ended his qualifying session early. We also break down the weekend chaos at Imola: Franco Colapinto filled in for Jack Doohan and promptly put it in the wall, Ferrari raced better than they qualified, Aston Martin did the opposite, and Mercedes had a complete shocker.Back home, James Warburton is back at the helm of Supercars – and we reckon that's a good thing. We dig into what it means and what's next. Then it's off to Indy, where Team Penske was slapped with disqualifications at a race they own, in a series it owns. Awkward? Absolutely. But don't be surprised when they come out swinging at the Indy 500 as it targets three-in-a-row.All that plus the latest headlines, hot takes, and news fromaround the racing world. Former Red Bull Racing driver Daniil Kvyat and F1.com editor Greg Stuart join Tom Clarkson in the Imola paddock to discuss Max Verstappen's sensational victory at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. How did Max pull off that incredible lap one overtake of Oscar Piastri? What will Oscar have learnt from the race? And what does this result mean for the championship battle? The guys also discuss the fight between Ferrari and Williams, why George Russell was unable to score a podium despite starting P3, and whether this was a turning point for Aston Martin after their best qualifying of the season so far. Plus, you'll hear their thoughts on another points finish for Isack Hadjar, Yuki Tsunoda's recovery from his crash in quali, and Franco Colapinto's debut for Alpine. Franz Hermann aka Max Verstappen showed once again why he's the GOAT of this generation of Formula 1 drivers. Is Red Bull Racing back to being the fastest team in Formula 1? At least in Imola, they were the class of the field. Can this continue for the rest (or most?) of the season? Based on the radio exchanges between Verstappen-GP, Max wanted to win in Imola...but with a large margin. - Max Verstappen's most-classic and cleanest opening lap/Turn 1 move since many races? - Oscar Piastri's bad luck with McLaren's pit stops & timing of the VSC and SC - Lando Norris' podium that didn't feel like a podium! - Yuki Tsunoda's pit lane start to a points finish in 10th If Ferrari start higher up the grid, do they have the pace to win? - Lewis Hamilton's comeback drive, and Charles Leclerc's frustrations. What can Ferrari do to qualify better!? - Alexander Albon's missed podium opportunity, but fantastic battles with Ferrari. Should Albon have battled differently with Leclerc? The Thai-British driver reckoned that he could've challenged Oscar Piastri for the podium! - Leclerc's radio exchanges with Brian Bozzi on the Ferrari pit wall regarding the possibly penalty in his battle with Albon - Carlos Sainz's lost chance due to an early pit stop What a way to bow out for Imola!
