Leslie Goshko is a talented comedian, storyteller, writer, musician, singer and great human. She's been successful in a range of endeavors but at this point she is one of the very few elite live karaoke pianists and music directors with regular gigs at Good Judy and Arlene's Grocery. Leslie had some heavy shit go down in the past year with her husband having medical problems and emergency room visits where Leslie was the point person in a series of stressful situations. A huge out pooring of support from folks during this difficult period for Leslie and Kyle took them as a big surprise, I know these guys, so I will say it makes sense that people would rush to help this kind, generous and hardworking couple. Thankfully, he's much better now, and we are still working on Leslie accepting help from other people. (She says her professional shrink is too!) Here's Leslie's previous Dr. Lisa Gives A Shit episodes: 2019: DLG218 Comedian, Writer, Musician, Singer Leslie Goshko and I demonstrate the value of creative people supporting each other. 2016: DLG1646_Leslie Goshko is great at too many things. Would you accept a $100,00 to sleep with a total stranger? (Full disclosure: I absolutely would.) Would you stay in a relationship with someone who repeatedly kissed other people? Would you let an adult beat you in basketball (you’re a kid in this scenario)? Find out the answers to these questions and more (ok maybe not that much more) as we explore the theme of Cheating! I first met Leslie Goshko in 2008 when we were both producing our own shows at Ochi's Lounge, a great club run by the fabulous now-owner of Q.E.D., Kambri Crews in the basement of COMIX the biggest comedy club in NYC in those days. Leslie and I support each other's work consistently and it REALLY HELPS. The last time Leslie visited the station was exactly 3 years ago this month so she returns to update up. 3 years ago, Leslie had just started performing at Loser's Lounge at Joe's Pub as well as pianist and host for Karaoke at Sid's Gold. Today those have both turned into regular gigs for her. She outlines her other music director gigs she's been doing, including an upcoming night at a fancy benefit to honor Seth Rogan and his dad, Mark. I also get Leslie, despite her resistance, to talk about the intense thrice-weekly gym workout with a trainer that she began a year ago and the effect it's had on her psyche. Leslie is an example of how hard work, discipline, and oh yeah, talent! can lead to great things Also please note: we found out more about Mark Rogan,, Seth Rogan's father. He worked for a non-profit organization and as an assistant director of the Workmen's Circle Jewish fraternal organization

In a basement lab. Great stories at KGB’s Red Room, produced with Lori Schwarz. Music from Leslie Goshko.
It’s the “Two Cat Laydees!” episode—feat. storyteller/writer/producer/singer-musician Leslie Goshko tawkin’ about being a child piano competition champ, becoming the high school drama/choir teacher you did NOT mess with, the perhaps divine intervention/“why not” moment that led her to NYC where, contrary to popular opinion, she has *never* told a story at the Moth...and, of course, cats! Recorded live at The Greene Space in NYC! One lucky audience member joins comedian Carmen Lagala for a Cat Quiz about performing cats, and our bandleader/musical guest Leslie Goshko performs an incredibly catchy song about Tater’s journey from Florida to New York. In the Hot Topic debate, Carmen and writer/producer Muna Mire decide if the phrase “let the cat out of the bag” is canceled or not. Then Muna tells us all about Simone, who loves fast food and might have mystical powers. Plus: Since it’s a safe space, Carmen tries out a new cat joke and Mary explains some of her most elaborate cat theories! For more from this episode, including exclusive charts & data about the cats of New York Public Radio, visit our website!Socialize with us on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook!Sign up for our newsletter!xoxo, LTAC HQ See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

One of the finest, funniest storytellers Leslie Goshko shared tales you have never heard before but will leave you laughing from crying or crying from laughing so hard. While New York claims her as a go to favorite scene stealer, be it as an actor, musician, cabaret star, storyteller or writer, she hails from the Midwest and maintains their renowned humility. In a business which offend rewards far less fascinating, fearless folks, Leslie Goshko is a must see. Really? Listen to our interview, and you tell me.
To help those of us who are born around the holidays feel a little bit better, this episode features all stories of holiday disappointment. Plus, Robin sings some of her original holiday songs including one about the worst Chanukah gift she ever got and the downsides of having a Christmas-adjacent birthday.
Editors NOTE: Leslie had a CRAZY childhood! It involves alcohol, speaking in tongues and a family illness. All of which Leslie has triumphed. Although we sum it up nicely in this session, for more detail, please listen to our previous therapy session from a BAM project here: http://www.bam.org/visualart/2014/what-makes-you-so-special As Leslie says: "This was such a fun interview to do and it was an honor to be the guest on Lisa Levy's Radio Free Brooklyn show, "Dr. Lisa Gives a Sh*t!" We talk music, Hairspray, piano karaoke, comedy, booze, church, and bad therapists." We also discuss all the creative roads Leslie has to go down and what an embarrassment of riches can be like.
