Zubayr Ibn al-Awaam رضي الله عنه (S59) The Divine Help: Many things occurred to aid the believers. A man called Nu'aym رضي الله عنه from the Banu Ghatafaan came to the Messenger ﷺ and embraced Islam during the battle. The Messenger ﷺ told Nu'aym رضي الله عنه instructions and he defeated the enemies from within, playing a genius role. Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى sent a cold wind which affected the enemies on the outside and He سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى also sent Angels (a.s). With all this combined, Abu Sufyaan رضي الله عنه decided he was leaving and others followed him. All that was left now was the Banu Qurayzah. Zubayr رضي الله عنه was one of those who pledged to the Messenger ﷺ under the tree when the rumour spread that Uthmaan رضي الله عنه was martyred. The Messenger ﷺ said whoever pledged to him on that day will not enter the fire. The treaty of Hudaybeeyah was signed, this was a great win for the Muslims
Andy Baskin and Jeff Phelps break down another tough Guardians loss to the Mets, praising rookie Angel Genao's historic four-hit debut built on a simple see-it-hit-it approach while lamenting that the team still let the game slip away. They dig into the crowded American League wild card race, noting Cleveland is now tied with Texas for the final spot with six other teams bunched tightly behind them, making every squandered opportunity sting more. The two also debate whether Steven Vogt's ejection was a fair call, with Andy arguing the umpire got it wrong and should own the mistake.
The first hour of "Baskin & Phelps" for Thursday, August 6, 2026.
You can feel completely overwhelmed by your business and be doing really well in it at the exact same time. Both of those things get to be true — and becoming someone who can hold them together, instead of letting the hard one run the show, is not a nice-to-have. It is essential to growing anything of your own.In this episode I'm getting into why our brains are wired to grab the difficult thing and hold onto it — the negativity bias, the default settings we all come installed with. And nobody is supposed to stay on the factory settings. You're supposed to customize. You're supposed to install the upgrade. Being someone who can experience many things at once is not a personality trait you either have or you don't — it IS the upgrade, and you have to install it on purpose (there's no button for it, which I know is annoying). And I'm telling you about a retreat I almost talked myself out of going to, what happened when I went anyway, and the very big way I got reminded of something I teach all of you constantly. There's a whole part of this about the murky, messy middle of building something — where you don't have clarity yet, where the thing you've committed to is expensive and terrifying and you said YES to it long before you knew if anyone was even coming — and why none of that means something has gone wrong. That's just what comes with building a business that's a creative expression of who you are. The overwhelm was never the problem — letting it win is. And I get into why I keep intentionally putting myself in rooms with the kind of people who are doing the same thing, and what that connection actually does for a business. In this episode you'll hear:Why your brain is wired to hold onto the hard thing — and what it costs you in your business when you let that be the only thing you can seeWhat it actually means to hold two opposite truths at the same time — and why this is a capacity you build, not something you're born withWhy feeling overwhelmed is not evidence that something has gone wrong — and how to keep it from making your decisions for youWhat happens when you leave the house and get in a room with real people — and why community and connection do more for your business than another week alone at your laptopWhy staying the same is so much more comfortable than changing — and what separates the small percentage of people who are actually willing to do something differentWhat it takes to commit to something big before you have any proof it will work — and why that discomfort doesn't go away no matter how many times you've done itIf you're a coach, teacher, or service-based business owner in the middle of something big right now and the overwhelm is LOUD, this one is your reminder that it can be loud AND you can still be doing exactly the right thing at the very same time.Passionate & Prosperous LIVE! is October 16th & 17th in New York City — two days in the room with the kind of people who want what you want. Some people are born knowing exactly what they want to do with their life – and because of that, they're able to get to the top of their field. But most of us have multiple passions and identities, making it difficult to visualize our own unique paths. So, how do we explore who we are and what we love to do in our careers and in our lives? This week, guest & TED Fellow Constance Hockaday helps us navigate and voice our deepest hopes and desires. She walks us through her perspective as an artist, what she's learned from immersing herself into small and sometimes very isolated communities, and gives tips on how to find liberation by pursuing your passion. What makes a magical item truly magical — and how many is too many? In this episode of FGGGbT, the Brain Trust — Daniel J. Glenn, Dr. Michael Dennin, and Ben Sieper — dive deep into the science, physics, and storytelling behind D&D magical items, and things get wonderfully chaotic. We explore how magical items are created through the fantasy equivalent of metal alloying and materials science — from Damascus steel to samurai folding techniques — and how the concept of magical attunement maps perfectly onto impedance matching in electronics. We break down the difference between a non-magical plus one sword (medieval ergonomics) and a truly magical weapon, why magical weapons can harm magical creatures when ordinary ones can’t, and how luck itself might be a form of short-range time travel or quantum probability manipulation. Then we get into the really fun stuff: the Cloak of Billowing, the Luck Blade, the Cursed Shield of Missile Attraction, the Bag of Beans, the Folding Boat (which turns out to be an excellent murder weapon), and the ultimate chaotic device — the Deck of Many Things. Plus, does drawing a card that gives you a castle reveal fate or create it? And did your rich uncle have to die for that to happen? Whether you’re a dungeon master looking for inspiration or a player obsessed with magical loot, this episode is for you. Topics Covered: How magical items are created: alloying, Damascus steel & samurai folding Magical attunement vs. non-magical attunement (medieval ergonomics) Why magical weapons harm magical creatures Impedance matching & the three-item attunement limit Luck as quantum mechanics, divination & short-range time travel The Luck Blade, Cursed Luck Stone & Shield of Missile Attraction The Bag of Beans, Deck of Many Things & wild magic items Favorite magical items: Cloak of Billowing, Folding Boat & Nolzur’s Marvelous Pigments Cursed items — liabilities or creative opportunities? "Pick a lane." I've heard it my whole life — funeral director, musician, divorced dad, creator — like one of them has to cancel out the others. Tonight I'm done apologizing for being all of them. This is The Mortals Live. Every Tuesday, 7PM ET. We open with a story of someone the world mostly forgot — tonight it's Gordon Parks, who refused to be just one thing his whole life — and then we get honest about the boxes other people build for us, and the ones we quietly build for ourselves out of exhaustion. If you've ever softened the truest thing about yourself with a "kind of," this one's for you.
I've noticed my own emotional and psychological resilience has increased as I've aged. Things that once affected me deeply seem to affect me less. But what I'm really curious about is something different.I'm no longer willing to mask the truth of how I'm feeling.Research shows emotional resilience improves as we mature - even after significant life changes like bereavement, retirement, loss. But the way that resilience shows up might not look like we expect. It might not look like "brushing it off and getting on."You'll hear:How a loved one's hospital crisis revealed something about my own reserves - the concept of "borrowing from my future self"The Self-Care Bank metaphor: how we can invest, withdraw, and sometimes dangerously empty our reservesA story about burnout: my mother's death, a new job, nearly dying - and what I take responsibility forThe moment I felt myself return: a part of me called Joy, and why she still needs protectingWhat a mother's poem written twelve years ago reveals about resilience, courage, and dealing with difficultyThree different entry points for three different people - on masking, depletion, and the pressure to be resilientI also share why I'm no longer willing to perform, and what that means for how I move through the world. A defense attorney who never called the key medical expert. A post-conviction petition filed one day late. A bench trial where one judge made every decision. A neurologist's opinion that was never weighed on its merits. The Mackenzie Shirilla case isn't just about whether she intended to drive her car into that building — it's about how many things in the process broke along the way.Shirilla was convicted of four counts of murder for the crash in Strongsville, Ohio that killed Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan. Netflix's The Crash put the case on screen and the country divided. Robin Dreeke, who spent twenty-one years at the FBI and led the Behavioral Analysis Program, sits down for a full three-part conversation covering every angle of this case. The first part examines Mackenzie's behavior — the texts, the threats, the arrest details, the prison persona — through the lens of a trained behavioral analyst. Was her personality evidence of murder, or evidence of a difficult teenager? The second part takes apart the investigation itself — the footage, the data, the charging decision, the absence of traditional premeditation markers, and the medical evidence that never made it to court. The third part addresses the hardest questions — Mackenzie's memory claim, the families' certainty, the competing public narratives, and whether everyone involved is too invested in their own version of truth to see the evidence clearly. This conversation doesn't declare Mackenzie Shirilla innocent or guilty. It examines whether the system that convicted her functioned the way it's supposed to — and whether the evidence actually clears the bar for the charge it was asked to prove.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Send a SASE! This week, V and Emily take a look at the illustrious -- pun intended -- life and career of Big Name Fanartist and writer Beverly Zuk, whose Fanlore page is a riot of full-frontal Vulcans. We look at the fascinating fic she wrote, particularly "The Third Verdict," and read through her instructions of how to become a fanartist in 1978. Plus, we marvel at the Star Trek Welcommittee and their work to help fans connect in an age before the internet made connecting simple, if not always easy. The key thing we take away from Beverly Zuk's legacy is that fandom is about being a fan together with others. “As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:38-42Mama, can you look at your life and the many activities or clutter that have weighed you down or distracted you, and begin to strip yourself of the many things, so that you can focus on that one thing?✨ A Sweet Invitation for You, Mama ✨ Sweet sister, in 2026 the Lord is inviting us into something more: deeper connection, more growth, loving heart-to-heart community. Political and social circumstances influence the languages people speak and sometimes create distance from the languages of their parents and grandparents. In Minnesota, the most common languages are English, Spanish, Somali and Hmong, according to Census data analyzed by Sahan Journal. But there are many others spoken here, including Tibetan, Kru and Kichwa. Sahan Journal recently profiled several speakers and teachers of languages that are rare in the state. Reporter Shubhanjana Das joined MPR News host Nina Moini to talk about the story.

From high school breakouts to a low-dose of Accutane… to the massive hormonal flare-up I experienced after coming off birth control in 2020 — I know firsthand how consuming, painful, and isolating acne can be. It's not “just skin.” It affects your confidence, your relationships, your work, and your mental health. In this episode, I'm joined by Kayleigh and Danielle, the co-founders of CLEARSTEM, a brand born out of their own devastating acne journeys. Danielle battled cystic acne for decades, tried Accutane three times, and eventually left the corporate world to study skin and open her own acne clinic. Kayleigh found her after nearly going on Accutane herself and what she learned in that first appointment completely changed her life.We talk about the emotional toll of acne (and why no one talks about it) and why so many traditional acne treatments don't address the root cause. We get into the surprising supplement triggers that can worsen breakouts (vitamin D, B12, zinc, biotin… and more), hidden pore-clogging ingredients in skincare and makeup, and internal + external connections when it comes to clear skin, eggs, dairy, whey protein, blood sugar spikes — and how to test your personal thresholds. We explore over-exfoliating vs. under-exfoliating, hormonal acne, stress acne, and adult acne in your 20s and 30s, and what to do when you feel like you've “tried everything.”Tired of guessing what's causing your breakouts?
