Liam H Dempsey (Spocklight podcast) and Tommy James (Little White Lies, Zavvi) return to Flixwatcher to review Liam's choice AmbuLAnce. Ambulance (2022) is a heist thriller directed by Michael (Bad Boys) Bay. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Danny Sharp, a well known criminal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Will Sharp, a former U.S. Marine and Afghanistan veteran and Danny's adoptive brother, Eiza González as Paramedic Thompson and Garret Dillahunt as LAPD Captain Monroe, field leader of the LAPD SIS unit. Will desperately needs money for his wife's surgery and reaches out to his adoptive brother Danny for help. Will reluctantly agrees to take part in Danny's heist. Not a spoiler but the heist doe not go well and Will and Danny end up stealing an ambulance and taking Paramedic Thompson and an injured police officer as hostages. Are you ready for some Bayhem?!? While it was not as bad as Tommy thought it would be, Kobi found it all too stupid. Liam and Helen were big fans though but even their high scores can't rescue Ambulance from an overall score of 3.04. Liam H Dempsey (Spocklight podcast) and Chris Johnston (Easy Riders Raging Podcast, The Spielberg pod) return to Flixwatcher remotely to review Liam's choice Jack Reacher. Jack Reacher is the 2012 action thriller based on Lee Child's novel One Shot starring Tom Cruise as Reacher and directed by Christopher McQuarrie. Rosamund Pike, Richard Jenkins, Jai Courtney, Robert Duvall and Werner Herzog also star. A former US Army sniper James Barr is accused of killing five seemingly random people in broad daylight. Evidence would indicate a clear cut case but under interrogation Barr writes "Get Jack Reacher" and it becomes apparent all is not what it would seem. Highlights of Jack Reacher are undoubtedly Werner Herzog's Zek, who manages to steal every scene he is in and has the best lines “I chewed these fingers off before the frostbite could turn to gangrene.” The action is fairly solid but doesn't quite hit the same as the Cruise - McQuarrie Mission Impossibles. Scores for Jack Reacher were firmly in the threes, not great but not bad, regardless of whether Cruise was too short to play Reacher and it scores a very solid 3.25 overall. Chris Johnston (Easy Riders Raging Podcast) and Liam H Dempsey (Spocklight podcast) join Flixwatcher remotely to review Chris' choice The Mitchells vs. the Machines. The Mitchells vs. the Machines is a 2021 animated family comedy produced by Sony Pictures Animation and Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The Lego Movie). It was scheduled for a cinema release but due to Covid restrictions was released on Netflix in April 2021. The Mitchells are outdoors loving, tech hating dad Rick and peacemaker and baking enthusiast mum Linda. They live in a small town in Michigan with their children Katie (aspiring filmmaker) and Aaron (dinosaur fanatic) and their pug dog Monchi. On the evening before Katie leaves for college to start her dream course in filmmaking she falls out with dad Rick. To try and save their relationship he cancels her flight to instead drive her there in a last chance attempt at a family bonding adventure. At the same time, a highly intelligent AI PAL launches an attack against the human race and orders an army of robots to capture humans. It is left to the Mitchells to stop them and save humanity. Benefiting from fast-paced and frenetic storytelling with pop culture memes and viral videos this was a huge lockdown hit for adults and children last year. Sadly, despite the enthusiasm for The Mitchells vs. the Machines from Flixwatcher and guests, it did not win Best Animated film at the Oscars but it did however score a very respectable 3.84 overall. To celebrate Christmas Petros is joined by Liam H. Dempsey of Spocklight to visit two films of Christmas past. Firstly Christmas Carol The Movie (2001), a bizarre adaptation with an all star cast and top 10 single. Nicolas Cage gives us his best haunted house ghost impression as well as one of the coldest portrayals of Scrooge cinema has ever seen. The second is Richard Donner's 1988 reimagining Scrooged, a film that both star Bill Murray and writer, Micheal O'Donoghue both panned upon it's release. Liam spoke to Richard Donner in 2017, so has some great insight on this film. Whilst having some scathing remarks for the former. MERRY CAGEMAS!! ONE TRUE GOD BLESS US EVERYONE!!
