G.O.A.T. – Bock auf große Sprünge | "Zoomania" trifft "Into the Spider-Verse": Wie hoch punktet Sony Animation diesmal? „G.O.A.T.

Verbal Diorama is a podcast all about How It's Done. It being movies, and to be honest, this one is as Golden as they come. I'm Free to Takedown the history and legacy of Kpop Demon Hunters, with the outcome of me becoming Your Idol. This is What It Sounds Like... my little Soda Pop.When director Maggie Kang set out to create an animated musical combining K-pop, Korean mythology, and a demon-slaying girl group, she had a clear vision: to make a film authentically rooted in Korean culture. After more than a decade working on major animated projects, Kang pitched what she called her "love letter to K-pop" and her Korean heritage to Sony Pictures Animation. The result was KPop Demon Hunters, a film that would go on to become a global phenomenon that no-one saw coming. The film's success exceeded all expectations. KPop Demon Hunters became Netflix's most-watched film ever with over 500 million views, surpassing even Squid Game. The soundtrack made history as the first film soundtrack to place four songs in the Billboard Hot 100's top ten simultaneously, with lead single "Golden" holding the number one spot for eight weeks. The song earned five Grammy nominations, and songwriter EJAE became the first Korean American woman nominated for Song of the Year.KPop Demon Hunters represents a significant evolution in the Korean Wave. Created by a largely non-Korean production team in America, the film nonetheless maintained deep cultural authenticity, from its references to Korean girl groups of the past, and to Korean shamanism, to the small details like how characters use their chopsticks. It combines vibrant animation with KPop culture, creating a unique visual and audible feast. The soundtrack is not just catchy; it's Golden.Play me on repeat 끝없이 in your head.Support Verbal DioramaLoved this episode? Here's how you can help:⭐ Leave a 5-star review on your podcast app

James Gunn Says No Darkseid For DCU, Elizabeth Olsen on MCU Return, Stranger Things Finale to Hit Big Screens

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesDuring a recent round of interviews with various comic-centric YouTube channels last week, James Gunn seemingly revealed that despite rampant speculation, his DCU is not building toward the character of Darkseid as a “big bad”. As to why he's not pursuing what many fans might argue is the obvious direction for the studio, he cited the efforts of the comic book cinematic universes that paved the way for his own, saying, "Using Darkseid as the big bad now is not necessarily the thing... because Zack did it so cool in his way and because of Thanos and Marvel." Gunn expanded his thoughts on both, acknowledging some of the shortcomings of the DCEU and detailing how similar Thanos and Darkseid are that it wouldn't feel fresh for audiences. While Marvel has yet to confirm the much-discussed Scarlet Witch's return to the MCU, in a new interview with beauty, fashion and pop culture outlet InStyle, Elizabeth Olsen reiterated that she's ready to step back into the role. "It's ridiculous," she said of making MCU movies. "We're grown people behaving like children on a playground. We're flying. We're shooting things out of our hands. And it's a character that I've gotten to return to so many times over 10 years. It's good to put her down and then I miss her, and I want her back. I'd jump at the opportunity to be in her shoes again." Last week, Netflix revealed its plans to release the feature-length finale of Stranger Things' final season in theaters, reversing course after the streamer had previously rejected the Duffer Brothers' theatrical release pitch. Theaters will screen the finale starting Dec. 31 at 5 p.m. PT — coinciding with its global Netflix debut — and continuing through Jan. 1, 2026. Disney+ will begin streaming The Fantastic Four: First Steps on Nov. 5, following the film's $521 million worldwide box office haul over the summer.Over the weekend, Sony's Crunchyroll released Chainsaw Man – The Movie, which topped the domestic box office with $17.2 million and reached $108 million globally. Black Phone 2 continued its solid run, surpassing $80 million worldwide. Regretting You debuted in third place with a better-than-expected $22.9 million, while the Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere disappointed with $16.1 million in its opening weekend.Paramount Pictures is finalizing a deal to acquire Ti West's adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, with Johnny Depp set to play Ebenezer Scrooge. The film will release on November 13, 2026.Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler are in talks to star in Joseph Kosinski‘s big-screen reboot of Miami Vice.Sony Pictures Animation will produce a sequel to its 2021 Oscar-nominated feature The Mitchells vs. the Machines. Production is expected to begin early next year.IMAX has unveiled its planned releases for 2026 at an Investor Presentation and at this moment, Spider-Man Brand New Day is not included in the lineup. The film will be released on July 31, which means it's debuting right in the middle of a pretty crowded IMAX season: the live-action Moana and The Odyssey are arriving on July 10 and July 17, respectively.Disney has officially exited its partnership with the BBC on Doctor Who after two years. For now, the BBC does plan to air an upcoming Christmas special next year and then continue the series on the network.Captain America star Chris Evans and his wife Alba Baptista have welcomed their first child, a girl named Alma Grace Baptista Evans

[School of Movies 2025] This one came out of nowhere after seven years of development and production at Sony Pictures Animation. Yet after all that, Sony execs had zero faith in its success, so they sold it (along with all sequel rights in perpetuity) to Netflix for the modest budget of $100 million and then a nominal $20m that they could call profit. Then it broke the goddamn internet! For many reasons that we will go into, this one hit just right with a huge audience, and is now the basis for decades worth of sequels and spinoffs and live action remakes. Netflix got more than they could ever have wanted. At the last minute on this commissioned show (many thanks to Chris Finik, Toby Skeels-Jungius, Tylor Long, Holly Dotson, Nama Chibitty and Tripas) we brought in our buddy Ryan who lives in Busan, Korea, and was able to give us a rich cultural perspective on many details that we as westerners completely missed. Get ready for a raunchy, animated romp as Fixed unleashes a surreal night in the life of Bull—a lovable staffordshire bull terrier who discovers he's scheduled to be neutered the next morning. Directed and co-written by Genndy Tartakovsky (Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory, Primal) with acclaim for its bold, hand‑drawn 2D visuals, Fixed marks Sony Pictures Animation's first R‑rated animated feature. Voicing Bull is Adam DeVine (Workaholics, Pitch Perfect), joined by a standout voice cast including Idris Elba (Luther, Pacific Rim) as Rocco, Kathryn Hahn (Agatha All Along, Bad Moms) as Honey, Fred Armisen (Saturday Night Live, Portlandia) as Fetch, Beck Bennett (SNL, The Mitchells vs. the Machines) as Sterling, Bobby Moynihan (SNL, Spider-Verse) as Lucky, plus River Gallo, Michelle Buteau, and more! The plot zooms through Bull's desperate, gonad-obsessed escapades—storming dog clubs, chasing love, causing chaos in “Hump City,” and facing his deepest fears. Scenes like the dog's strip club, Kool-Aid toilet debacle, ball-themed existential chaos, and Bull's heartfelt confession to Honey are as hysterical as they are disturbing. Tartakovsky's signature visual style shines—even if the humor may wear thin quickly. For the final archive episode of 2025, Chris and Alex once again swing their way back into the superhero world of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey & Rodney Rothman, 2018), revisiting their discussion of Sony Pictures Animation's computer-animated film that featured special guest Simran Hans, film critic and culture writer whose work has appeared in The Observer, The Guardian, Buzzfeed, Dazed, The Fader and Sight & Sound. Lots here on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse's unique comic book-style design and the visual “crunch” of its evocative flattened style; the upturned generic qualities of the computer-animated film within contemporary Hollywood; and the growing pervasiveness of superhero cinema that, since the film's release, has become further reinvigorated by Spider-Verse's now highly influential design.
