Welcome to the very first episode of I Killed My Tamagotchi!Things immediately go off the rails when Tommy James opens the show with a confession so shocking that Alex "A-Town" Ryan spends the rest of the episode questioning their entire 25-year friendship. From there, the guys dive into the Disney Renaissance and rank the songs that defined a generation. From The Little Mermaid and Aladdin to Mulan, The Lion King, Hercules, and more, they debate classics, share childhood memories, and discover just how differently they view some of Disney's most beloved films.Along the way, they take a trip back to June 1999, revisit Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, celebrate the New York Knicks making another Finals run, and somehow keep circling back to one particular Disney movie Tommy has never seen.Plus, the very first Heartthrob email arrives. A mysterious admirer has their sights set on Alex or Mat, kicking off a season-long game filled with hidden clues, bad decisions, and the possibility of public embarrassment at the Sock Hop Dance.Whether you grew up rewinding VHS tapes, belting Disney songs in your bedroom, arguing over the best soundtrack of the 90s, or desperately trying to keep a digital pet alive, you've found your people.Welcome to I Killed My Tamagotchi.

Welcome back, Hazbin Hotelians. Class is back in session as Night School Horror continues its descent through Hazbin Hotel one episode at a time. Unfortunately, Mista Malave decided to cut class again…which feels a little Respectless if you ask us.Today's lesson: Episode 3 — Scrambled Eggs:Florida's Favorite Creep Sabrina Ace continues leading Tommy James and Mr. A-Town Ryan deeper into the chaos of the Hazbin universe as the group breaks down trust, loyalty, and why Velvette is the backbone of the Vees. Tommy also refuses to let go of the idea that Rosie Perez would've been the perfect voice for Velvette, while Mr. A-Town continues his growing appreciation for Hell's most disrespectful influencer. Most importantly though…we jam out to Respectless. Easily one of the strongest songs we've heard so far, and the kind of track that reminds you this show somehow balances Broadway-level music with absolute degeneracy.Check in, grab a drink from the hotel bar from Husk, and enjoy another session of Hazbin Hotel therapy…

EPYSODE 85: Guts by Jodo. Guest: Jodo guitarist Rod Alexander. Additional commentary by Uncle Herff. This week we dive into Guts, the explosive and overlooked debut from British hard-rock band Jodo. Recorded in 1971, Guts blends blues-infused riffs, dual-lead vocals, and a raw energy that sits somewhere between early heavy rock and proto-metal. Though Jodo never achieved commercial success, their sole LP has become a cult favorite among collectors, celebrated for its ferocious guitar work, powerhouse rhythm section, and gritty, soulful vocals. In this epysode we walk through the history of the album with guitarist Rod Alexander. Jodo were a band at the edge of the British rock explosion, and this one remains a hidden treasure of the era's heavier sounds. From tween garage band beginnings to chart-topping success and a shocking behind-the-scenes story that reads like a Hollywood script, Tommy James, of Tommy James & the Shondells, joins Media Path to share dishy details about his remarkable journey while creating some of the most enduring hits of a generation!Tommy traces his musical roots back to age 12, when he formed his first band, The Echoes, with fellow classmates, a group that would eventually evolve into The Shondells.A job at a local record shop gave him an early education in the retail side of music, and by 14, he was recording his first single. That song, “Hanky Panky,” took on a life of its own when a Pittsburgh DJ began spinning it. From there, it quickly became the biggest record the city had ever seen and launched Tommy's career overnight. One problem: No Shondells. They had all moved on to college, families and other careers. Tommy club crawled to find Pittsburgh band, The Raconteurs who quickly agreed to become The Shondells. That success led Tommy to shop the record for a deal in New York City. Every top label wanted Tommy. One problem: They had all received a menacing phone call from mobbed up Morris Levy of Roulette Records. Tommy's dysfunctional mob family relationship provided him with an interesting exchange. He enjoyed complete creative control in the studio, leading to the hits, I Think We're Alone Now, Mony Tony, Crystal Blue Persuasion and Crimson and Clover… but… Morris pocketed most of Tommy's money and Roulette's Genovese Family ties kept The Shondells cranking out hits and selling over 110 million records without complaint. Our conversation explores the stark contrast between the band's bright, infectious music and the darker realities unfolding behind the scenes, which included ominous intimidation and physical threats.Despite the challenges, Tommy credits that time with giving him an invaluable education in the inner workings of the industry, from production to publishing, lessons that have informed him throughout his career. Today, he brings that rich perspective to his SiriusXM 60s channel radio show, called Gettin' Together, where he shares the stories behind the songs, offering context only culled from a performer who lived it.He also reflects on writing his memoir, Me, the Mob, and the Music, which he would only publish after the funeral of Vinnie “The Chin” Gigante, the last Genovese Family mobster. Tommy also shares early details about his story's upcoming adaptation into a mini-series.Plus we've got an IMDB Roulette round that's immersed in the era when variety shows brought teenage audiences their first peek at the real life musicians spinning around their record players! In current media recommendations: Marty: Life Is Short on Netflix andHazardous History with Henry Winkler on The History Channel and HuluPath Points of Interest:Tommy JamesTommy James on WikiMe, The Mob and the Music: One Helluva Ride with Tommy James and The Shondells.by Tommy James with Martin FitzpatrickTommy James Tour DatesTommy James on FacebookTommy James on YoutubeTommy James on InstagramHazardous History with Henry Winkler

Yes… seriously. What follows is a mix of surprisingly thoughtful casting choices, arguments about “story integrity” that absolutely should not exist in this context, and pitches that somehow make less sense the more they're explained.Because on this show, absurdity isn't just allowed—it's encouraged. And somehow… it still has to make sense. One of them walks away with the win. The 2026 Who You Got Challenge for MegaCon Orlando continues on with The Creep Bracket—a lineup so chaotic it probably violates several laws of physics, logic, and basic common sense.Joining the madness are Florida's Favorite Creep Sabrina, Mista Malave, Tommy James, Mike “Schmidthauser”, and our suffering Challenge Administrator Mr. A-Town Ryan, whose job is basically to keep this circus from completely burning down. This bracket throws together characters who probably should never share the same arena. We're talking Ben 10's Omnitrix, Sonic's speed, Shrek's questionable swamp strength, magic, alien tech, demons from hell, and at least one character who can literally inhale the universe like it's a milkshake.Somewhere in the middle of this nonsense we try to answer extremely serious questions, like:Can Dr. Doom's magic and technology actually handle a teenager with a watch full of alien war crimes?Does Sonic's speed outrun ghosts… or just run directly into them?Could Beast Boy turn into something ridiculous enough to beat a literal demon idol? And is Kirby the most polite cosmic threat in existence?Along the way we break down absurd matchups, argue about power scaling like it actually matters, and remind everyone that in the Who You Got Challenge, knowledge is the difference between a genius pick and a pick that gets you laughed out of the bracket. If you enjoy ridiculous debates, chaotic nerd energy, and hypothetical fights that should never work but somehow do, welcome to the show. This is the Creep Bracket.Try to keep up.

It's mind boggling!  PART ONE Paul and Scott chat about crossing a new friendship milestone and the long road to getting to speak with the unbelievably cool Jeff Barry. PART TWO Our in-depth interview with Jeff BarryABOUT JEFF BARRY Jeff Barry began his career as a recording artist for RCA and Decca Records, but attracted more attention for his original songs. After scoring pop hits with “Tell Laura I Love Her” and Sam Cooke's recording of “Teenage Sonata” in 1960, Jeff joined forces with Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector to pen such classics as “Da Doo Ron Ron,” “Then He Kissed Me,” “Be My Baby,” “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” “Chapel of Love,” and “River Deep – Mountain High.” Greenwich and Barry also recorded together as the Raindrops while continuing to find success with other artists, including landing number one hits with “Doo Wah Diddy Diddy,” “Leader of the Pack,” and the Tommy James and the Shondells recording of “Hanky Panky.” Rolling Stone magazine's 2004 list of the “500 Greatest Rock Songs” included six Barry-Greenwich compositions, more than any other non-performing songwriting team. As a producer, Barry helmed such hits as “Cherry, Cherry” by Neil Diamond and “I'm a Believer” by The Monkees. After parting ways with Greenwich, Jeff began writing with Andy Kim, with whom he had the biggest hit of 1969 when he co-wrote and produced “Sugar, Sugar” by the fictional cartoon band The Archies. A few years later, Jeff was nominated for the Song of the Year Grammy for Olivia Newton John's 1974 chart-topping recording of “I Honestly Love You.” Additionally, he found success on the country charts in the 1970s and ‘80s with top 5 singles such as “Out of Hand,” recorded by Gary Stewart” and “Lie to You For Your Love,” recorded by the Bellamy Brothers. Never bound by genre categories, he also enjoyed top 5 R&B successes in those decades with songs such as “Heavy Makes You Happy” for the Staple Singers and “The Last Time I Made Love,” a song he wrote with Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil that was recorded by Joyce Kennedy and Jeffrey Osborne. In addition to writing more than 50 different songs that have reached the top 40 on the Billboard charts, Jeff penned the theme songs for TV shows such as One Day at a Time (“This Is It”), The Jeffersons (“Movin' on Up”), and Family Ties (“Without Us”). In 2019 he and writing partner Clarence Jey composed and wrote songs for the animated Nickelodeon show Lego City Adventures.  Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich are in the top 20 of Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. Jeff has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Songwriters and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.  Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. We sit down with May Pang to unpack John Lennon's misnamed “Lost Weekend” and reveal a season of creative fire, repaired friendships, and family reconnection. May shares what really happened across those 18 months: the studio grind behind Mind Games, Walls and Bridges, and Rock 'n' Roll; and the bet that led to a thunderous Thanksgiving return with Elton John.We walk through May's unexpected path from Abkco assistant to John and Yoko's personal assistant to John's trusted partner. She opens the door to an East River apartment where Paul and Linda knock unannounced and Julian finds a steady line to his dad. May explains how weekly calls, shared holidays, and respectful honesty gave John room to repair family ties long strained by distance and noise. There's myth‑busting, too: where the money came from, who actually held the checkbook, how the LA antics got amplified, and why the “Lost Weekend” nickname came from John's own movie‑minded metaphor rather than a spiral. We even pause on a close, silent UFO over Manhattan—witnessed by both May and John—because history is sometimes stranger than rumor. If you care about Beatles history, rock history, or simply how creativity survives under pressure, this conversation reframes a legend with first‑hand detail and generous nuance. Hit play, then share this with a friend who still thinks “Lost Weekend” means lost time. Tommy James: Hits, Hustle & the Mob Behind the Music

A Breath of Fresh Air

On this week's A Breath of Fresh Air, Sandy welcomes a man whose songs have woven themselves into the fabric of several generations. Tommy James, the legendary frontman of Tommy James & The Shondells, joins us for a deep, revealing conversation about the highs, the heartbreaks and the astonishing twists behind one of the most successful hit-making careers of the 1960s and beyond.Tommy's journey is the kind of story Hollywood couldn't invent — though they're certainly trying, with his bestselling memoir Me, the Mob and the Music currently being adapted for the big screen. He takes us right back to his childhood in Niles, Michigan, where loving rock 'n' roll meant picking up a guitar, forming a band and hoping the magic would follow. It did — but not in any way Tommy expected. He talks us through the incredible moment when Hanky Panky, a forgotten B-side recorded years earlier, suddenly blew up in Pittsburgh after a bootlegger pressed tens of thousands of copies. One minute Tommy was playing small clubs; the next he and his band were national chart-toppers. That whirlwind success swept him straight into the arms of Roulette Records — a label run by the charming but notoriously dangerous Morris Levy, a man later revealed to have deep ties to the Genovese crime family. Tommy opens up about the complicated relationship that followed: the protection, the pressure, the creative freedom, and the financial exploitation that kept millions of dollars out of his hands. In this wonderfully open chat, Tommy revisits the creation of the monster hits that still light up dance floors today. He tells Sandy how I Think We're Alone Now reinvented the band's sound, how a flashing neon sign inspired the name for Mony Mony, and how Crimson and Clover marked a bold new chapter in studio experimentation — a leap that helped Tommy move from AM pop dominance to the era of FM album rock. He describes the excitement of breaking musical ground, the thrill of hearing his songs explode on radio, and the constant sense of danger swirling around Roulette's offices.Sandy and Tommy also explore the cultural shifts that shaped his era: the rise of psychedelia, the breakup of The Shondells, and the changing landscape of the record business as artists were suddenly expected to deliver albums with artistic depth, not just hit singles. He recalls touring America in the late '60s, his surprising involvement in Hubert Humphrey's presidential campaign, and the little-known story of why he turned down Woodstock — a decision that has fascinated fans for decades.Today, Tommy remains as passionate and creative as ever. With new music, a thriving fan base, and an extraordinary life story headed for film adaptation, he's enjoying a well-deserved renaissance. His music still pulses through movies, TV, commercials and global radio, connecting across generations and reminding listeners why these songs have never stopped mattering. This episode is a joyful, eye-opening, often jaw-dropping journey through one of the most colourful careers in rock 'n' roll. If you love the artists who shaped the soundtrack of our lives — the stars of the '60s, '70s and '80s — then settle in. Tommy James has stories you'll be telling your friends for days.

Tommy James came up during a time when the music industry was in part controlled by New York's Italian mafia. And for a period in the 1960s, that power was centralized at Roulette Records. The record label was run by convicted extortionist Morris Levy and operated in partnership with the Genovese crime family. Tommy James' hits were sanctioned by the mob, the same mob that would threaten not only his career, but his life. Bill Dickson in conversation with David Eastaugh  https://rousers.bandcamp.com/album/1979-sire-session Inspired by the New York Dolls, Ramones and such immortal ‘50s rockers as twangy guitar hero Duane Eddy, the Rousers were woefully under-documented in their prime. A few major labels sniffed around, including RCA and Warner Bros. subdivision Sire. But no one committed them to vinyl until Reynolds issued their “Party Boy” b/w “Don't Let The Band Stop Playing” 45 (produced by Wayne Kramer of the MC5) via Jimboco in 1981.  Reynolds corrects this oversight today with the release of the demos that the original Rousers lineup—vocalist Jeff Buckland, rhythm guitarist Bill Dickson, bassist John Hannah, lead guitarist Tom Milmore, and drummer Jerid O'Connell—cut for Sire in the label's basement studio on New York's Upper West Side in 1979.  Tracked to tape under the sharp ear of Ed Stasium, hot off sessions with the Ramones and Talking Heads, the 1979 Sire demos are raw, radiant, and long overdue for release. They captured the Rousers in full dragstrip ignition mode: dueling Gibson guitars plugged into Fender amps for maximum punk twang, hiccupping Elvis/Buddy Holly vocal inflections, and a rhythm section built for backseat makeouts and beer-splashed dance floors.  With nods to Duane Eddy (“Ram Rod,” “Movin' N Groovin'”), the sweat-soaked charm of originals like “Be My Girl” and “Product of the USA,” and a rip-it-up cover of Wilson Pickett's “If You Need Me,” Rousers 1979 Sire Session is the missing chapter of NYC punk's golden age, finally pressed to wax.  Never before released, the tapes sat shelved in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's Sire archives for decades, digitized and restored in 2024. Mixing duties were split between Bob Stander (Parchessi Studio) and Ed Stasium himself, ensuring period-authentic crunch meets modern punch. The result is 13 tracks of grease-slicked melody and garage-pop swing, crowned by the kinetic rave-up “Bumblebee Rock” and the shoulda-been-hits “Lonely Summer” and “Be My Girl”—a song that splits the difference between Tommy James stomp and Marshall Crenshaw shimmer.

Jamie James, guitarist, singer, and songwriter, joins Charles on Seeing Them Live to discuss his musical journey and new album Straight Up, released on Oglio Records.Jamie reflects on his early musical influences, growing up in Woodstock, Ontario, and his transition from aspiring hockey player to musician after a knee injury. He shares how he taught himself guitar on a damaged acoustic and recalls receiving his first real guitar as a Christmas gift in 1966. The conversation turns to Jamie's formative concert experiences, including seeing Tommy James and the Shondells, Deep Purple, Sly and the Family Stone, The Who, and an early performance by Queen in a small London club. Jamie describes how these shows influenced his approach to live performance. He recounts his time in the 1970s rock scene, playing with various bands before joining the New Steppenwolf in 1977. After leaving the New Steppenwolf, Jamie formed The Kingbees, an ‘80s rockabilly trio that gained a cult following.A favorable review in LA Weekly helped them gain popularity, attracting large crowds to their shows. He discusses their unique rockabilly-inspired style, which predated the Stray Cats and MTV, and his personal shift toward a Buddy Holly-influenced guitar approach. Jamie also shares anecdotes about the LA music scene, recalling interactions with The Blasters and Blackie Dammett, father of Anthony Kiedis, who became an informal emcee for The Kingbees. Additionally, he recounts signing with RSO Records in 1980, initially seeing little success until their song My Mistake gained radio traction in Detroit. This newfound exposure led to major performance opportunities, including a replacement slot at the Toledo Speedway Jam alongside ZZ Top, AC/DC, and Sammy Hagar; a wild gig that took an unexpected turn involving a whiskey bottle that injured an audience member. After the Kingbees disbanded in 1981, Jamie pursued a solo career, but his EP failed to resonate with him. A chance encounter with actor Harry Dean Stanton at a July 4th gathering led to a close friendship and musical collaboration that lasted for years. Jamie formed a band with Stanton, regularly performing at The Lighthouse and The Mint. Later, he connected with actor Dennis Quaid, leading to the formation of The Sharks, a band that endured for nearly 20 years.A severe health scare in 2020 prompted Jamie to recommit to songwriting, leading to the creation of new music during the Covid pandemic. Despite financial challenges, his bandmates were eventually drawn in by the strength of his songs, paving the way for his latest album, Ain't No Big Thing (https://oglio.com/).Jamie's story is one of resilience, reinvention, and an enduring love for making music. Moments In Time: Stories About Artists and Songs Of The 50s, 60s, And 70s. For Fans of Music ... From A Music Fan Paperback by Tom Locke Amazon.com Mitstories.com Hubcs.com In February 2024 "Moments In Time" received its 5th award when it was selected as a Book Excellence Award Winner in the Music Category. Out of thousands of books that were entered into the 2024 Book Excellence Awards competition, I am honored that my book was selected for its high quality writing, design and overall market appeal. Moments In Time is all about music. This book will put a smile on your face as the author, Tom Locke, takes you back in time to the music of the 50s, 60s, and 70s with entertaining, informative stories about known and forgotten artists and songs. To top it off, Tom has made this book interactive by creating access to the songs featured in each of these stories. One click and you'll be listening, singing, and dancing. These stories will provide you with answers to questions about artists and their songs. How did Tommy James come up with the title for his hit record, “Mony Mony”? Who was the three-time Oscar winner to have a Top 10 record at the age of 67? What motivated Doc Pomus to write “Save The Last Dance For Me”? When did the original version of “Blue Velvet” appear on the music charts? What singer was classified as a two-time “one-hit wonder”? The perfect escape back to yesteryear, these stories will provide insight for both young and old, and perhaps jog your memory about the fun times you experienced because of this era of music, which continues to be embraced today. “I have met many people in the field of Rock & Roll these past 60 years, but no one has impressed me more when it comes to reflecting on the history of this music genre. Tom Locke is a true Rock & Roll historian who really knows the detailed history of the evolution of this great music. He has written a book that is worth its weight in Solid Gold." – Mr. Music, Norm N. Nite, legendary Deejay & Author Tom Locke lives in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, spending the majority of his time writing and executive producing in the entertainment industry. Over the past 25 years, Tom has also studied and consulted on the impact of digital technology in business. It was during this period of time that he introduced the online world to his music creation, “Moments In Time.” He has a passion for music. Writing this book was a natural for him as he was weaned on the music of the 50s, 60s, and 70s while growing up in Toronto. The book became a reality thanks to the online listening audience at Treasure Island Oldies, who encouraged Tom to share his impeccably researched music segments that he has produced on a weekly basis for this show since August 2000.
