So much Star Trek to discuss! First, we celebrate the 25-year anniversary of Star Trek: First Contact, arguably the best TNG movie ever! Where were we? What were we doing? And how have we grown since then?? We then move onto discussing TWO Star Trek episodes - Prodigy's "Terror Firma" and Discovery's "Kobayashi Maru." We loved the "mid" mid-season (?) finale of Prodigy, which has Dal finally doing something other than being annoying, and some great moments for our characters. We also loved (shocking) the season premiere of Discovery, though we're not without our qualms (not shocking) - and Mike totally owes Johnson a drink because there WAS crying in this episode!

A 10 kilometer walk that keeps changing direction is tough enough without a crew member with a broken leg who has given your biggest foe your coordinates. This time the crew is able to stand together to meet their challenges head on and be saved in an unexpected fashion. This leads Gwyn to have to make one of the most important decisions of her life. Capt. James T. Kirk (William Shatner) and Lt. Nyota Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) embraced and kissed on "Plato's Stepchildren"; an episode of ‘Star Trek' broadcast on 22nd November, 1968 - just a year after the Supreme Court declared interracial marriage to be legal. However, despite popular belief that this was TV's first interracial kiss, it wasn't. It wasn't even the first interracial kiss on TV featuring William Shatner… In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly examine just how slowly attitudes to ‘mixed marriage' were shifting in the United States; compare this iconic Trekkie moment to homoerotic frat-boy YouTube videos; and reveal how the actors concerned deliberately sabotaged ‘the wide' so their kiss would be screened coast-to-coast… Further Reading:• Kirk and Uhura kiss on ‘Star Trek' (Paramount Television, 1968): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lThvEsP5-9Y• ‘'Star Trek's' interracial kiss 50 years ago boldly went where none had gone before' (NBC News, 2018):https://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/star-trek-s-interracial-kiss-50-years-ago-went-boldly-n941181• ‘Nichelle Nichols on filming the first interracial kiss on American television' (Archive of American Television, 2010):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hKKkGhEDoUFor bonus material and to support the show, visit Patreon.com/RetrospectorsWe'll be back tomorrow! On this episode, Mike and Emilie are joined by Blake Rogers and his dad, The Divine Treasury co-host, Jamie, to discuss "Starstruck." The wayward crew of the U.S.S. Protostar begin to learn about their new found ship and the United Federation of Planets when they activate a training assistant for cadets, a hologram of Kathryn Janeway. Dal decides that he should be the captain and proceeds to make a series of bad decisions regarding the course, ship board operations and interpersonal skills with the crew. Meanwhile, Rok-Tahk is tasked with keeping Gwyn under control in the brig and catching her once she's escaped. Will Gwyn get off the ship and back to her father? Has Dal led the crew down a path they can't escape from? We discuss that and more on this episode of Discovering Trek: Prodigy!

It happened in Vegas, and we are going to spill the tea. The SyFy Sistas have never laughed as hard as we did with everyone's favorite Discovery Season 3 cast member, Noah Averbach-Katz. The Son of Rachelle, while living a Trekkie's ultimate dream, earned his spot on the cast with his Julliard training, those super expressive eyes, and some good old-fashioned schmoozing. Noah gets silly and serious, and even makes a 'beta-canon logical' call on a burning question. We give a special shout out to our sound engineer DoS, the Anonymous. Find him at dostheanonymous1@gmail.com or on Instagram @ dos_theanonymous_1 For more about all the fun we have in Star Fleet Command Quadrant One (SFCQ1) as the crew of the USS Gerard Holder, under the command of Lt.
