Join host Scott and special guest Nathaniel Metcalfe (The JCAS Presents: Nick and Nat Control The Airwaves and The JCAS Present-Nick & Nat Consume and Obey) as they break down the 1995 action classic Bad Boys! In this episode, we dive into Michael Bay's divisive directorial style—think Tony Scott vibes with the early sparks of Bayhem—and unpack the explosive chemistry between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence that defines this 90s gem. From the era's love for bold colors to action-packed nostalgia, we cover it all. Plus, we stir the pot with our hot take: Bad Boys II might just be the weakest in the franchise (minority opinion alert!). Host Scott is joined by special guest Nathaniel Metcalfe (The JCAS Presents: Nick and Nat Control The Airwaves and The JCAS Present-Nick & Nat Consume and Obey) to dissect one of the most iconic actioners of 1995, Bad Boys!Over the course of the episode we talk about the divisiveness of Michael Bay, how he feels like he is doing Tony Scott impersonation here and the early shoots of what come to be known as Bayhem. Plus, we get into the insane chemistry of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, 90s actions love of a colour and how we both agree (even if we are in the minority) that Bad Boys II is the worst entry in the franchise. Podcast producers Vic Turnbull and Charles Commins return to Flixwatcher to review Vic's choice Bad Boys II. Bad Boys II (2003) is the second film in the Bad Boys franchise, directed by Michael Bay and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Theresa Randle, and Joe Pantoliano all reprise their roles from the previous film, Bad Boys (1995). Detective Lieutenant Michael Eugene 'Mike' Lowrey (Smith) and Detective Lieutenant Marcus Miles Burnett (Lawrence) are back in Miami. This time investigating the ecstasy drug trade. A bust during a Klan meeting leads to Mike accidentally shooting Marcus in the ass. The trail leads them to drug lord Hector Juan Carlos "Johnny" Tapia. In pursuit of him Bayhem ensues with car chases, shoot outs and mortuary raids. Recommendability scores for Bad Boys II were mixed, its mix of violence and comedy makes it a niche audience and some of humour hasn't aged well. With a runtime of 2 hours and 36 mins scores for repeat viewing were low to give an overall rating of 3.01. Liam H Dempsey (Spocklight podcast) and Tommy James (Little White Lies, Zavvi) return to Flixwatcher to review Liam's choice AmbuLAnce. Ambulance (2022) is a heist thriller directed by Michael (Bad Boys) Bay. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Danny Sharp, a well known criminal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Will Sharp, a former U.S. Marine and Afghanistan veteran and Danny's adoptive brother, Eiza González as Paramedic Thompson and Garret Dillahunt as LAPD Captain Monroe, field leader of the LAPD SIS unit. Will desperately needs money for his wife's surgery and reaches out to his adoptive brother Danny for help. Will reluctantly agrees to take part in Danny's heist. Not a spoiler but the heist doe not go well and Will and Danny end up stealing an ambulance and taking Paramedic Thompson and an injured police officer as hostages. Are you ready for some Bayhem?!? While it was not as bad as Tommy thought it would be, Kobi found it all too stupid. Liam and Helen were big fans though but even their high scores can't rescue Ambulance from an overall score of 3.04. Bad Boys II, Bad Boys II, whatcha gonna do when they Bad Boys II?We're back with perhaps the ultimate Bayhem experience, the purest expression of what purile pop American cinematic entertainment can offer: BAD BOYS IIA truly repellent and maximalist film, one that has to be seen to be believed. What did Alex and Ben think of it? Before you find out you'll have to listen to our discussion on another great Bad Boy of cinema, Caveh Zahedi. Your hosts went to a two-day screening of his most recent works (in progress) and got to meet the man himself. Are these two threads connected in the episode... not particularly but we think it's funny that it worked out this way.Next week we're diving into the Bad Boys legacy sequels with the confusingly title third entry BAD BOYS FOR LIFE. Here we will first bring up The Slap before a very Slap-heavy finale the week after.Follow us @thefranchisees on Instagram and Twitter and email us at thefranchiseespod@gmail.com

This week on the Everything Actioncast, shit gets real as Zach and Chris talk about the 2003 Michael Bay extravaganza Bad Boys II as the fourth movie in the franchise, Bad Boys: Ride or Die hits theaters.Seven years after the first movie, Mike Lowery (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) are a part of the Tactical Narcotics Team in Miami, trying to track down and stop the kingpin shipping in massive amounts of ecstasy into the city. Unknown initially to the Bad Boys, Marcus' sister Syd (Gabrielle Union) is working for the DEA undercover and getting close to Johnny Tapia (Jordi Molla), the Cuban druglord behind everything. Zach and Chris talk about how everything is ramped up to 11 in this sequel, the over-the-top action, Michael Bay's obsession with corpses, if you can drive up to Guantanamo Bay in a Hummer, the hit-or-miss comedic set pieces, and more. You can stream Bad Boys II on Hulu, Pluto TV, and Starz.Next week, we're diving into Chronicles of Riddick to celebrate both Karl Urban's return as Billy Butcher in The Boys Season 4 and the movie's 20th anniversary. We want to hear your comments and feedback. Welcome all you slack jawing sons of bitches to your monthly ass chafing. We conclude our 3 month journey into Bayhem with our 3rd and final explosive episode dedicated to putting to rest, once and for all, the age old question: Is Michael Bay an action auteur or is he just a flashy horse shit artist? For our 3rd and final installment we will be taking a look at the 5 biggest piles of horse shit from Mr. Bay's filmography (decided by the average of all 3 of our ratings of them) to get a better understanding of what areas he truly fails at as a filmmaker. “Wow – that tongue thing is amazing.”On this episode we take a look at Michael Bay's The Island (2005).We discuss how well the inventor of ‘Bayhem' handles a film which attempts an exploration of philosophical and ethical questions whilst trying to figure out why we keep wanting to buy expensive consumer goods. Oh, and of course we take a look at the exploding helicopter action. Episode 140.
This week we leap with writer Rhett Reece to a Michael Bay film that is basically Michael Bay parodying Michael Bay. This ridiculous action thriller stars Ryan Reynolds and generates a very interesting discussion between the three of us. We hope you enjoy the Bayhem of this episode!

After 6 previous live-action Transformers films of wildly varying quality, we will see if the follow-up to the soft-reboot of Bumblebee stays on course, or if it veers back off the rails into the “Bayhem” murder-verse territory. This is the Beast Wars G1 crossover event that pits Optimus Prime vs Optimus Primal vs the might of Unicron The Planet Devourer himself! It's Trukk Vs Munkey Vs Planet! Its Transformers: Rise of the Beasts! Dion and Quinny are our G1 'bots, But Jill is repping both female Transformers and Beast Wars all the way! Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a '90s globetrotting adventure as Optimus Prime and the Autobots take on their biggest challenge yet. When a new threat capable of destroying the entire planet emerges, they must team up with a powerful faction of Transformers known as the Maximals to save Earth. https://youtu.be/CA5itPTC0CU As always, a space-bridge sized thank-you to the plucky band of heroic Autobots and who join in with the conversation on the Twitch stream, live each Tuesday night at 7:30pm AEST And an especially huge thanks to any of the Pretenders, Headmasters and Micromasters who are kind enough to support us by dropping a tip in our jar via Ko-Fi, or subscribing on Twitch... every bit helps us to keep the shark-ticons from the door! You can decide which faction was which” “Obscure collector convention exclusive toy Ape-linq voted officially deepest cut ever for a major motion picture” “In effort to revitalise the brand new transformers crossovers will include, Fast and the Furious, The Transporter and horrifically Disney's CARS” “Peter Dinklage's voice work as Scourge proves he can play a robot convincingly… Destiny fans set to riot.” “Lawyers for Autobot Jazz continue to assert that the distinctive likeness and personality was used unlawfully by Autobot Mirage in this film”
Ryan examines the robots in disguise of the latest entry into the Transformers franchise: Tranformers Rise of the Beasts. Can it live up to the Bayhem of the previous installments, or does it escape that every same pitfall?

In this week's episode of the AIPT Movies podcast, Alex, Tim, and Matt discuss Michael Bay's relatively timid dystopian science fiction thriller, The Island! Bay trying his best to restrain himself during dialogue scenes, but going full-destructive-madman during the intense action scenes! A stacked cast that includes a playful Ewan McGregor, Scarlett Johansson at the edge of mega stardom, Sean Bean possibly dying again maybe, and a career-best performance from Djimon Hounsou! All that and more in this legitimately compelling (and possibly too prophetic) story that has a fairly shocking narrative twist if you don't already know what the movie is about! In addition, Tim quickly recommends Clive Barker's Lord of Illusions, while Alex gushes about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3!You can find AIPT Movies on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. As always, if you enjoy the podcast, be sure to leave us a positive rating, subscribe to the show, and tell your friends! The AIPT Movies podcast brings you the latest in movie news, reviews, and more! Hosted by supposed “industry vets,” Alex Harris, Tim Gardiner, and Matt Paul, the show gives you a peek behind the scenes from three filmmakers with oddly nonexistent filmographies. You can find Alex on Instagram and Twitter @ActionHarris. Matt is a terrific artist that you can find on Instagram @no_wheres_ville. Tim can't be found on social media because he doesn't exist. It's part two of our Throwback Throwdown of Deep Impact vs. Armageddon! While Deep Impact was a pensive meditation on how the world would react to a meteor heading toward Earth to wipeout humanity, Armageddon is a nonstop, breakneck Aerosmith music video that leaves no breathing room for the viewer and needs to blow something up every ten minutes just to calm the shakes. It's Michael Bay's most Michael Bay-ish movie and was the highest grossing film of 1998, but is it the best meteor-based picture of 1998? We examine the film thoroughly to find the method to the madness and the brilliance in the Bayhem. We also talk about Keith David, That Thing You Do, Holly McClane Syndrome, and the Mystery of Noonan. Listen closely and don't fall asleep because you don't want to miss a thing!
Zach, Amin and Mayes ride together and die together in the sequel so replete with Bayhem that we had to break it into two parts. Show Notes After being bad at adulting, and husbanding. the hosts follow through on their promise to leave no explosion unturned in exploring the works of Michael Bay. Bayhem ensues. This episode is now the most interesting thing about the number 82. Intro & Follow-up (0-30:29) I failed to find the Black Wednesday (no sports) … Continue reading "Episode 82 – A Brace of Bayhem"
Welcome to something completely new, the only commentary podcast that matters because, as far as I know, it's the only one that exists. On our inaugural episode, we're tackling the commentary for Michael Bay's "Armageddon" featuring Bay, stars Ben Affleck and Bruce Willis, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, but mainly we're focusing on the Master of Bayhem.Did NASA need a cinematic facelift? Are asteroids really our number one planetary concern? Was the Criterion Collection asleep at the wheel when they chose to include this film? Did Ben Affleck use his air time to craft an unsuccessful RiffTrax audition? We'll attempt to answer all these questions, but don't hold it against us if we fail. Ryan's Recommendations: "The Rock" (1996), "Bad Boys II" (2003), and "Ambulance" (2022)For exclusive bonus content and early releases of every episode, join our Patreon and become an Official Minder: http://www.patreon.com/onetrackmindpodcastTheme Music by: Bildschirm (bildschirm.bandcamp.com).
