Happy E420 from the team! While we didn't ingest anyting to celebrate, we did go stream of consciousness on this episode. From Jimmy Eat World to the Army/Navy game to Meg's pre-race sickness, Baltimore had a lot going on this weekend. Speaking of races, Meg is headed out to Arizona to run the Marathon Project in a very special prototype. We also talk about The Running Ground, overzealous soccer parents, Taylor Swift's generosity, and Kim Conley's incredible comeback at the 2012 Olympic Trials. Finally, we end up covering the Puma Magmax Nitro 2, a great max cushion trainer that can kind of do anything.Pick up The Running Ground by Nicholas Thompson: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/678434/the-running-ground-by-nicholas-thompson/Watch Kim Conley's comeback at the 2012 Olympic Trials: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqdxuWmdsYISUPPORT OUR SPONSORS!MAURTENMeg's heading off to The Marathon Project in a week and you know she'll be stocking up on Maurten for race day. Things don't stop around here, as we're in the throes of fall marathon training. Meg goes full emo and bleeds herself dry for the long run (thanks to some hardcore chafing), Robbe heads for the hills of Pennsylvania to take down some carny clowns, and Thomas goes full voodoo doll with his dry needling regimen. And then there's the Puma MagMax, a shoe that belongs in Mad Max (and we're okay with that).Looking to run sub-4 at the Chicago Marathon? Join our very unofficial group to help pace you to your goal. More newcomers arrive on NES this episode, each bringing a musty conversion of an even older original work in tow. Kemco-Seika makes its NES debut with a two-year-old port of First Star Software's Spy Vs. Spy, which kinda-sorta puts a bow on the two-player trend of NES software by way of a competitive espionage adventure. Just as dated is the debut duology from Japanese dev Nihon Bussan, courtesy of our pals at FCI: Creaky console ports of arcade obscurities MagMax and Seicross. Not precisely the most inspiring games 1988 had to offer NES fans... Production note: NES footage captured from @Analogue Nt Mini. Video upscaled to 720 with @Retro Tink 5X. Video Works is funded via Patreon (http://www.patreon.com/gamespite) — support the show and get access to every episode up to two weeks in advance of its YouTube debut! Plus, exclusive podcasts, eBooks, and more!
An alien menace has attacked the worlds of civilization and laid waste to their planets. However before the being conquered, a group of scientists has managed to create one last weapon and hidden it underground. The name of the weapon is Mag Max and only it might be able to defeat the alien invaders. Mag Max however is incomplete and for security reasons, his component parts are scattered across the land. Through their collection, Mag Max's strength increases. SHOW NOTES MagMax Longplay Arcade Archives Port LUFTRAUSERS --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/nestalgia/support

Sorry for the short hiatus! We are back this week with Portland comedian and a man who’s name begins and ends with an X, Xander Deveaux! We talk Bayou Billy, Jeopardy, montages, a game we he can’t remember the name of and I don’t know what he’s talking about based on his description which turns out to be called MagMax, silly names, Turok, and more! We review Seasame Street 123 for the NES and Sunset Riders for the SNES.
