We enter into marriage not only to forge a bond with our spouses but also to embrace the role of being a bonus mom or a son or daughter-in-law. However, expectations and communication with our in-laws or bonus kids can sometimes lead to challenges that affect both our kids and our marriages. To restore and strengthen these connections, it is crucial to initiate open lines of communication and truly get to know one another on a personal level. Although it may be extremely difficult, engaging in difficult conversations paves the way for understanding and growth. Building lasting relationships relies on effective communication and the foundation of respect, which holds the power to bridge gaps and foster harmony in our relationships.Join the conversation with Markisha Williams and Yolanda Agee as they share more about their experiences as a bonus/step mom and with mothers-in-laws. "Wives Night In" Getting Real About All Things Marriage From A Wife's PerspectiveAs women, we are trained to do everything and care for everybody else, not ourselves. Sometimes, we get so caught up in being a wife and a mom that we forget who we are outside of those. This makes re-adjusting to the ever-changing marriage and family dynamics very hard. But knowing what you want to do as a wife and a mom, what makes you happy, and giving each other grace is what makes all the difference. You are not going to support and love your family the best if you are sacrificing yourself heavily. Find your balance and reteach your children and husband who you are to show up as your best self.No one remains the same. We all change in the marriage journey, and reintroducing ourselves can create emotional resentments at first, but it will keep us happier and help us be better wives and moms. Forcing ourselves to be the same even when we need change can be more detrimental. Since these changes are inevitable in marriage, all you can give to your partner is to be there for them and give them more grace to thrive. Understanding that it's just a season, and each of us has our turns will help you keep things in perspective without being selfish when it's not your turn. Marriage should be a partnership where we encourage and support one another to be better and a better version of ourselves. It should be a give and take, sacrifice, and full of accommodation and tolerance.Join the conversation with Amye Grant and Markisha Williams as they share their marriage experience and how they navigate change and transition to provide you with tools that you can use to keep your marriage strong and bring back the intimacy.  Tune in!During this episode, you will learn about;[00:37] Episode intro and what's special for you today[01:10] Meet our guests and hear who they are outside being wives and moms[04:15] How Markisha and Amye met their husbands [06:42] What Markisha and Amye like most about their husbands  [09:31] Loving marriages of about 8 years and the hardest things they had to face[13:31] How to effectively handle changes and transitions in marriage[18:10] Golden takeaway nuggets [20:58] An overview of a typical day of our marriage life[27:25] How Markisha make time for herself from her busy marriage schedule [33:48] Training our children differently by setting an example that we want them to pick[34:41] How Amye takes care of Amye and keeps her happy [39:14] Monique's experience with her last pregnancy and how it changed her life [44:45] Pressure that we feel as wives on what to do or play as a role [46:27] Why they should not tell you how to be a wife to your husband  [48:09] The top three important things that Markisha and Amye need in their marriage [50:51] Date nights and why they are important in a marriage life[55:22] Being creative and making adjustments in different seasons to be with your partners [56:58] Initiating and handling sex in marriage [64:02] Societal pressures on sex when it comes to women and men [69:30] Amye and Markisha's family support when they got married, and their relationship now[74:40] Markisha and Amye's love lines [77:07] Advice that Amye and Markisha would give to their just married self [78:30] How to reach out and connects with our guests [80:40] Ending the show and call to actionNotable Quotes It's challenging to give your best in marriage if you do not know who you are.Marriage should be a partnership of encouraging and supporting one another to be the best version of yourself. In times of transition and change in marriage, give your partner the grace and support
