In this week's episode of The Learning Curve, co-hosts Prof. Albert Cheng of the University of Arkansas and Alisha Searcy of the Center for Strong Public Schools speak with Leslie Hiner, Senior Advisor for Legal Policy at EdChoice, about the constitutional foundations and future of educational freedom in America. Hiner reflects on her distinguished career in law and public policy before examining the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decisions that have shaped the modern school choice movement. She discusses how Brown v. Board of Education's promise of equal educational opportunity influenced later efforts to expand parental choice and educational access. Hiner then explores the significance of Zelman v. Simmons-Harris, Trinity Lutheran Church v. Comer, Espinoza v. Montana Department of Revenue, and Carson v. Makin, explaining how each expanded protections for families seeking religious and private educational options. She assesses the legal landscape following Carson, highlights key recent victories such as Loffman v. California Department of Education, and offers insights into the future of school choice litigation, educational tax credits, and parental rights nationwide. Finally, Hiner also examines current legal cases, including Hellman v. Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and they could mean for the future of school choice in Massachusetts.

Our guest today is Heather Rooks. Heather is a mom, former school board president, and 2026 candidate for Arizona's LD28 House of Representatives, advocating for parental rights, academic excellence, fiscal responsibility, and strong community leadership. You are well known for standing up to power, and doing what is right, even when it comes at great personal and professional cost. You have been serving as the President of the Peoria Unified School District Governing Board up until very recently, when just such crossroads had to be traversed. Tell us, very briefly what happened in your District? You've said your journey into public service began simply as a mom standing up for your child during the masking debates and helping other families find their voice. How did that experience shape who you are today as both a person and a candidate? Critics sometimes claim that parents who became active during COVID were motivated by politics. How do you respond to those who misunderstand your advocacy journey and the heart behind your involvement? You earned the nickname “The Peoria Mom” because of your willingness to show up, ask questions, and advocate for families. What did those early school board meetings teach you about leadership and community engagement? As you campaign for the Arizona House in LD28, what are the top priorities you want to focus on to help strengthen your community and the state as a whole? (Parental Rights and Education, Safety in Our Community, Protect the Border, Defend the 2nd Amendment, Responsible Government, Election Integrity, Special Needs Community, & Affordability) What makes you uniquely qualified to be the AZ State Representative in LD28? How do people follow you and support your campaign? Originally Aired 6.1.26

Drawing from her work with families impacted by the child welfare system, Joyce argues that Child Protective Services often functions less like a helping profession and more like an investigative and prosecutorial agency. She explains how poverty is frequently confused with neglect and how families can become trapped in cycles of surveillance and punishment. Joyce also discusses the Parent Legislative Action Network (PLAN) and several reform efforts advancing in New York and beyond, including the Anti-Harassment in Reporting Act and proposals aimed at strengthening due process protections for parents. The conversation explores issues surrounding CPS registries, emergency removals, visitation barriers, and the importance of educating families about their constitutional rights. If you've ever said “I know what she's doing” and then realized you can't prove it, this briefing is for you. We're drawing a hard line between truth and evidence and showing how to stop walking into family court with feelings, fragments, and resentment that read like “he said, she said.” The goal is simple: protect your fatherhood by turning repeated bad behavior into a clear pattern a judge, guardian ad litem, or custody evaluator can actually use.We walk through a narrative-building protocol designed for high conflict divorce and child custody fights. You'll hear how to adopt a forensic mindset, apply the “third-party test,” and write entries that sound like a neutral report, not a diary. We break down the Four Ws (who, what, where, when) and the six categories that make patterns instantly visible: exclusion, gatekeeping, interference, control, tactical strikes, and the one most dads forget to track, flexibility, which documents your stability and your willingness to support the kids' relationship with the other parent. Then we get tactical about evidence management: why documentation without evidence is just a story, how to link each entry to a screenshot, parenting app message, email, or video file, and how to store it all in a “digital sanctuary” with a naming convention your attorney can navigate fast. We also cover the three-copy rule for backups, plus the gray rock method so you stop giving high-conflict bait your emotional energy and let the data do the talking. Being unprepared is how great fathers become weekend visitors. Most ground is lost quietly through "drift" and decisions made under pressure. Are Trans Ballot Measures Protecting Kids or Turning LGBTQ Americans into Campaign Props? Are Politicians Playing Politics with Liberty? Are transgender related ballot initiatives really about protecting girls' sports, privacy, parental rights, and children, or are political campaigns using emotional issues to drive voter turnout? In this episode of Go Right with Peter Boykin, the Constitutionalist for Liberty, Peter responds to an LGBTQ Nation article originally published by Mother Jones and written by Madison Pauly. The article raises the question of whether anti trans ballot initiatives are being used as Republican “ballot candy.”Peter breaks down the issue from a constitutional, moderate, Go Right perspective. This is not about denying real concerns. Girls' sports matter. Privacy matters. Parental rights matter. Children matter. Women's spaces matter. But so does human dignity, local control, free speech, and limiting government power. This episode asks the question many Americans are thinking but few in politics want to answer: are voters being asked to solve real policy problems, or are politicians using children, women, LGBTQ Americans, and parents as campaign props?Peter also speaks from the perspective of gay Americans who do not classify themselves as Democrats, who reject left wing gender ideology but also reject cruelty, dehumanization, and political exploitation. Protect girls' sports. Protect privacy. Protect children. Respect parents. Respect free speech. But do it with narrow, clear, constitutional policy.Article Link:Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/R3JmpjQ-Jtc Watch on Rumble: https://rumble.com/v79pxl6-are-trans-ballot-measures-protecting-kids-or-turning-lgbtq-americans-into-c.html Bitchute: https://www.bitchute.com/video/P4IMXApTRhFi/ Listen on Spreaker:https://www.spreaker.com/episode/are-trans-ballot-measures-protecting-kids-or-turning-lgbtq-americans-into-campaign-props--71964097More from Peter Boykin:GoRightNews.com PeterBoykin.com GoRightMusic.com Support independent constitutional media: Cash App: $GoRightNews This episode responds to an LGBTQ Nation article originally published by Mother Jones and written by Madison Pauly. The article cites reporting and data from The Nevada Independent, Associated Press, Pew Research Center, Gallup, Saint Louis University and YouGov, St. Louis Public Radio, NBC News, Nebraska Public Media, Nebraska Examiner, Bangor Daily News, News Center Maine, Maine campaign finance records, Civil Rights Litigation Clearinghouse, The Maine Beacon, and public statements from political figures and advocacy organizations involved in the debate.#GoRight, #PeterBoykin, #GoRightNews, #ConstitutionalistForLiberty, #ParentalRights, #GirlsSports, #WomenSports, #ProtectChildren, #FreeSpeech, #LocalControl, #ConstitutionalRepublic, #LGBTQ, #GayConservative, #GaysForTrump, #TransDebate, #PoliticalPodcast, #ModerateConservative, #CommonSense, #NorthCarolina, #LibertyFirstBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/go-right-with-peter-boykin-the-constitutionalist-for-liberty--3096608/support.

“Parental rights” is a rallying cry for today's American conservatives, signaling opposition to mandatory vaccination and “woke” public school curricula. In Every Man's Home a Castle: Parental Rights and the Makings of Modern Conservatism (Princeton UP, 2026), Dr. Julia Bowes traces the origins of the modern parental rights movement to the nineteenth century, when the introduction of compulsory schooling laws, child labor regulations, and vaccine requirements provoked a resistance rooted in the presumed right of white men to govern their homes. A wide-ranging coalition—including Irish Catholic immigrants in Illinois, Mormon enclaves in Utah, and Protestant clergy in Virginia—believed that the state had usurped the “natural rights” of parents and “invaded the home.”Dr. Bowes shows how, by the turn of the century, those disparate voices had coalesced into national conservative movements. Anti-vaccinationists, alternative medical practitioners, and parents who opposed compulsory school medical exams joined forces to form the National League for Medical Freedom. Deciding a case brought by conservative Catholic lawyers, the Supreme Court declared parental rights a “fundamental liberty” protected by the Fourteenth Amendment. And the Sentinels of the Republic, a conservative citizen's lobby, mobilized a campaign to defeat the proposed federal Child Labor Amendment, bringing together pro-family and free-market politics with far-reaching consequences.Exploring the emergence of parental rights as an antistatist ideology through legal cases, legislative debates, and political movements, Dr. Bowes argues that the expansion of state power over children provoked such fierce opposition because the paternal rights of white men—considered the “rights-bearing” individuals of American democracy—were widely viewed as the mark and measure of their independence. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. This week, Jennifer welcomes back Liz Kurantowicz, a political operative and media commentator based in Connecticut and known for her advocacy for parental choice in education, her frequent appearances on television and radio, and her active involvement in state and federal political discourse. As a Catholic school parent and outspoken conservative, Liz has played a prominent role in mobilizing opposition to state legislature bills that restrict parental education rights. Jennifer and Liz dive into the realities of modern American politics, from controversial Connecticut education legislation requiring parents to register their children with local boards of education if they opt out of public schooling to high-profile congressional scandals, including the recent resignations of Eric Swalwell and Tony Gonzalez. The conversation highlights issues of pervasive sexual misconduct in government, lack of transparency with legislative settlements and NDAs, and the violence and escalation in political rhetoric seen nationwide. The episode also touches on the chilling effects these factors have on voter participation, the urgent need for greater protection of political and media institutions, and the impact of social media and constant campaign cycles on civic discourse. “These men are building careers on the backs of these women, and they are doing so knowing they have to remain silent.” ~ Jennifer This week on Political Contessa: Parental choice legislation and registration requirements for non-public school students The chilling effect of state laws on parental rights in education Congressional resignations tied to scandals and systemic misconduct Pervasiveness of harassment and sexual abuse in government Barriers preventing victims from coming forward and a lack of protection for whistleblowers Calls for transparency regarding congressional NDA settlements and Epstein files Escalation of violent rhetoric and attacks targeting elected officials and journalists The failure of current political leaders to lower the temperature on public discourse Connect with Liz Kurantowicz: Capital Report, Nexstar (Sundays at 10:30 on ABC Hartford-New Haven, also online via the WTNH app and YouTube) Twitter/X:@MrsKurantowicz Resources mentioned: Capital Report TV show (WTNH, Hartford-New Haven) State legislative transparency and audit initiatives (Massachusetts, Connecticut) Julie Grace’s piece on D.C. experiences Information on registration laws for alternative education in Connecticut Discussions regarding the release of Epstein files and congressional slush fund records Awaken Your Inner Political Contessa Thanks for tuning into this week’s episode of Political Contessa. The young women coming out the other side of a cultural lie, carrying its permanent mark on their bodies and asking the questions no one prepared them for. What pulled them in? What woke them up? What does the wreckage actually look like once the affirmation stops? And how did an entire culture, an entire profession, march millions of children down this road while calling it care? Jennifer has been watching this story unfold for fifty years, first inside her own family, now inside her therapy office. She left the mental health system in 2020 and has been telling the truth ever since. This episode is about more than gender. It is about how minds get captured, how good people participate in harm, and what human vulnerability looks like when the institutions sworn to protect us become the ones doing the cutting. New court documents obtained by Florida Politics reveal that in late January 2023, Disney rushed a major development agreement and restrictive covenants through the outgoing Reedy Creek Improvement District board—just days before Governor Ron DeSantis' new appointees took control in February. The deal was designed to lock in long-term land development rights and protect the company's ambitious Magic Kingdom expansion plans from what Disney executives internally described as an incoming “hostile board,” triggered by the company's public opposition to Florida's Parental Rights in Education law. Depositions show the company used low-profile tactics, including limiting information shared with the old board and discreet attorney involvement, while even voluntarily slowing its own expansion progress due to permitting uncertainty. The new Central Florida Tourism Oversight District later voided the agreements, calling the move underhanded, though the parties eventually settled the broader Disney-DeSantis feud. Drawing on both legal expertise and lived experience, they examine how TPR functions within the child welfare system and what it means for families across the country.Alex explains how TPR permanently severs the legal relationship between parents and children, often without the level of scrutiny given to other life-altering legal decisions. Toia shares her personal story of being wrongfully accused, fully exonerated, and still losing her parental rights, highlighting the lasting impact on her children, extended family, and cultural identity. Together, they challenge common assumptions about “permanency,” emphasizing the difference between legal stability and the relational connections children need to thrive. They also explore alternatives such as guardianship and kinship care, and discuss ongoing efforts to reduce unnecessary terminations and preserve family integrity. The EPPiC Broadcast is hosted by Michael Ramey, President of the Parental Rights Foundation. Constitutional attorney Dean Broyles, president of the National Center for Law and Policy, joins me to continue untangling the legal battles reshaping how public schools handle gender identity — and what they mean for parents, teachers, and students.Picking up where we left off with Laura Powell in episode 207, Dean begins with a detailed breakdown of the Mirabelli v. Bonta case, which started in Escondido, California, when two Catholic teachers refused to comply with “gender secrets” policies requiring them to conceal a child's gender identity from parents. Dean walks us through Judge Bonita's landmark ruling, which found that California's parental exclusion policies create a “trifecta of harm” to children, parents, and teachers alike — and the March 2nd Supreme Court decision reinstating the statewide injunction squarely on the side of parental rights. We go deep on what these rulings mean in practice: the secret “shadow records” schools have been keeping on students' gender identities, the religious accommodation rights teachers can assert against California's coercive PRISM training, and the student free speech protections guaranteed by Tinker v. Des Moines. Dean explains the difference between a parent's right to be informed and a teacher's legal obligation — and where the courts are headed on whether parents can block social transition at school entirely. We also address the growing wave of detransition malpractice cases, including the Varian v. Einhorn verdict, and what a pending Supreme Court case could mean for therapists' freedom of speech in counseling. This is essential listening for parents, teachers, and mental health professionals navigating what Dean calls an Orwellian environment in today's public schools.Dean Broyles is a constitutional attorney who serves as the president of the National Center for Law & Policy. He is a free speech, religious freedom, and parental rights advocate with extensive experience involving sexual identity issues in the courts, culture, and public schools. Dean regularly files amicus briefs at the U.S. Supreme Court in landmark cases, provides legislative testimony, and advises mental health professionals. In this week's conversation between Dr. James Emery White and co-host Alexis Drye, they discuss some recent major court decisions that put parental authority and responsibility in the spotlight. The first was a Supreme Court ruling that California schools must notify the parents if a student expresses their desire to change their gender. The second was a case in Georgia, where a father was found guilty of murder and manslaughter for the crime committed by his son; guilty because he failed to heed clear warning signs in his son's behavior. Episode Links Dr. White wrote a recent blog on this topic titled, “Parental Rights and Responsibilities,” which you can read HERE. He also referenced another blog that he wrote called “The New Attack on Parenting,” which you can read HERE. And then here are two recent headlines that you can read for more information about both court cases referenced above: James Romoser, “Supreme Court Says California Schools Should Notify Parents About Student Gender Changes,” The Wall Street Journal. Rick Rojas and Johnny Kauffman, “Father's Murder Conviction in School Attack Puts New Onus on Parents,” The New York Times. Another recent case from the Supreme Court awarded parents $1.5M over LGBTQ books saying that parents should have “the final say” on their children's education. You can read the article titled “Religious parents awarded $1.5M after Supreme Court win in LGBTQ+ books case“ HERE. Dr. White spoke of the importance of the role of parents in the lives of their children; specifically, that they need to be involved, informed and in charge. Today's episode kicks off with election integrity special guest Mark Cook. He's an election and cyber-security expert, dropping hard evidence on Dominion Voting Systems. From hidden web servers and proof-of-concept demos showing vulnerabilities. Byrne's latest fire: unsealed grand jury evidence on Smartmatic, compromised hardware from China, a Taiwan switcheroo, and ties to Venezuela/Cuba that could blow open decertification of entire systems. If this holds, it's game-changing proof the machines aren't secure. We shift to the raw outrage from Colorado parents fighting back against a system that seems hell-bent on protecting predators instead of kids. Erin for Parental Rights out here in Commie land Colorado confronted lawmakers after seven Democrats voted no on tougher penalties for child sex traffickers and then refused to let voters decide via ballot measure. Add in the fresh bomb: Colorado Democrats just introduced a bill to decriminalize prostitution statewide, repealing crimes like soliciting and patronizing while preempting local laws. This isn't protection, it's a dangerous slide that puts vulnerable people at risk, and parents are done staying silent. This show pulls no punches real parents confronting spineless politicians, fresh legislation that reeks of misplaced priorities, and deep dives into voting tech corruption. Mark Cook brings receipts, Joe brings the heat, and we're asking the questions the establishment dodges. Tune in for truth that hits hard and the call to action Colorado families need right now.
