Abiding When Uncertain - Pastor Shawn Winters by Walnut Hill Comm. Church
Send us a textIn this episode of Viewpoints, Jordan Voyles and Pastor Shawn wrap up the Awaken series with a powerful conversation on what it looks like for both individuals and the church as a whole to live fully awake in Christ. They dive into Hebrews 10 and explore:- Why perseverance is the antidote to spiritual sleepwalking- How to spur one another on with love and good deeds- The difference between comfort-zone Christianity and urgent, Spirit-led faith- Why sanctification flows out of salvation, not the other way aroundThis is a call to stop settling for “I'm good where I'm at” faith, and to step boldly into the next season God has for you. Whether you're new in your walk with Christ or a seasoned believer, there is always a next step to take.
We've been called out — not just to be different, but to make a difference. In 1 Peter 2, we're reminded that our new identity in Christ comes with a purpose: to reflect Him to the world around us. Through our actions, our patience, and our words, we point others to the hope we've found. Being a witness isn't just about what we say — it's about who we are becoming.

The call of the Church has always been the same: to boldly share the good news of Jesus, with everyone. Our nation is walking through a very heavy time right now. From the recent shooting at Evergreen High School, the Catholic school shooting, the subway attack, the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and countless other recent events, we see the brokenness of the world. Pastor Shawn reminds us that while we grieve, we are not without hope. We know the victory is already won in Jesus and so we press on in our calling. The time is now to love people, share the good news of the gospel, and invite every one we meet into a relationship with Jesus.

Amazing Grace: What We Don't DeserveFor it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 NIVGrace Is More Common Than You Think (Common Grace) He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. Matthew 5:45 (NIV)Grace is More Than Forgiveness: Forgiveness is something God does; Grace is part of who He is.The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. Psalm 103:8-14 NIV3. Saving Grace Is SpecificAbram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness. Genesis 15:6 NIVFor it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV
In the concluding episode of the series "Not From Here," we delve into the prophetic insights from the Book of Daniel, focusing on Daniel's 70-week timeline and the tribulation period. Our journey through these ancient scriptures has unveiled parallels between Daniel's exile and our existence in a world with differing values from the Kingdom of God. Pastor Chris elaborates on the concept of the Antichrist and the implications of the end-time tribulation for Israel and the Church. This discussion extends beyond the narrative of Israel's historical suffering due to her rejection of God's covenant, and questions arise about the Church's fate during these trying times. While Daniel provides limited details on the Church, we turn to New Testament passages to explore the Church's pre-tribulation rapture stance, drawing insights from 1 Thessalonians chapter 4. With a focus on unity rather than theological debates, we highlight key distinctions between the rapture and the second coming of Christ, providing believers with encouragement and clarity. The episode concludes with reflections on God's unyielding promise of salvation, urging listeners to ponder their personal relationship with Christ amidst uncertainties.

This week in our “Not From Here” series, we step into one of the most prophetic and powerful visions in all of Scripture — Daniel 9:24–27. Daniel receives a glimpse into events far beyond his lifetime — a vision that points to the coming of Christ, the suffering He would endure, and the future tribulation still to come. Even in times of confusion, conflict, and coming judgment, God's plan is unfolding — and He is still calling people to Himself.
This sermon explores Romans 12:9, emphasizing the importance of genuine love, hating evil, and clinging to good as essential characteristics of Christian living. Pastor Shawn stresses that these commands are not a means to attain grace, but rather a product of God's grace in believers' lives. He encourages the congregation to pray, look to Jesus as an example, and meditate on these exhortations to truly live out this scripture in their daily lives.
In the final message of our “Come Home” series, Pastor Shawn Nichols shares a powerful reminder that God's love always welcomes us back—no lectures, no judgment—just open arms and celebration. Whether you've been far from faith or struggling with forgiveness, this message challenges us to reflect on the heart of the Father and how we respond to those coming home.
Fr Shawn McCain Tirres - May 11, 2025 This Good Shepherd Sunday sermon offers an honest and vulnerable reflection on what it means to need a shepherd in today's uncertain world. Pastor Shawn begins by acknowledging the difficult state of our world and our personal lives, exploring why the ancient metaphor of God as shepherd remains deeply relevant for modern believers. This sermon will resonate with those experiencing burnout, anxiety, or feeling overwhelmed by life's uncertainties, while also offering practical ways to embody Christ's love in community.
