It's one thing to post about your four year old having a tantrum, but it's another to show your teen having different struggles and going through a trial. Just because I don't post about my teens and their trials, doesn't mean that they are perfect. I want to share my thoughts with you today about being worried about if your children appear perfect or not. Want to a private coaching session? Click here to book a session today
--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/teacherparv/message
Download an MP3 of this message September 7 & 8, 2019 - Children are a gift from God – an old saying that’s also true. But nowadays, caring for those gifts is becoming more and more challenging. Simply reading the Bible and going to church isn’t enough in today’s a-moralistic world. This weekend we meet Andie Fair - she has a Christ-given passion for how we, as a community, can together raise our children to fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ. If you love children, then this is a do-not-miss weekend.

Publish Date 3-18-19There's no such thing as "Perfect Parenting" or "Perfect Children" it's just not a reality. So why then do we spend so much of our lives either striving for perfection or demanding perfection in others when the truth is we are all imperfect people? So many of us walk around with deep wounds and so much baggage feeling like we are failing at life because we are not measuring up to this ideal Mom, Dad, Partner, Son, Daughter, or Friend we might be measuring ourselves with. We need to somehow get our minds around the fact that this idea of perfection is not reality. There are no perfect people, no perfect parents, no perfect kids, and no perfect families. So maybe that's the bad news, but here's the good news you are enough. Did you hear that bit of "gospel"? God knows us and sees us just the way we are with all of our imperfections and flaws and still loves us with complete and everlasting love. An unconditional, transforming love that will absolutely bring wholeness and healing to our lives and to our parenting and marriage relationships. Why do we need perfect children? What are the effects of such behaviors on children from young ages? Speaking to children in condescending tones. Why do some children object and not others?
Whether it’s finishing work on his long-awaited third solo album or finding the perfect spot for a new recording studio, Brian Olive is a man of infinite patience. That explains why the sessions for his upcoming effort, Living on Top, took close to three years, as the retro sound-loving former member of beloved Cincinnati garage rock icons The Greenhornes and Detroit’s hard-charging Soledad Brothers toiled to make sure it sounded just right. Based on a preview of four songs Olive played on the latest edition of WCPO’s Lounge Acts podcast, the results are well worth the wait. Asked when he started working on Top, Olive was pretty sure it was 2015. But then he was reminded by a band member that it was actually the year before, explaining that “a few things” were getting in the way. “It was worth taking the time to do because I like the way this one worked out,” he said. Taking over the Digital Lounge with an all-star band that included Yusef Quotah (Halvsies, You, You’re Awesome) on keyboards, Tim Seiwert (Whiskey Shambles, Casey Campbell) on drums, bassist Andy Jody (Barrence Whitfield & the Savages) and back-up singers Beth Harris (The Hiders, the Perfect Children) and Kristen Kreft (The Perfect Children), Olive rocked the room with a heavy dose of his patented Motown-influenced soul. The album’s title track is a propulsive choogle that mixes the blue-eyed soul of Steve Winwood’s Traffic with such Motor City legends as Mitch Ryder and Bob Seeger, with Olive handling both the chicken scratch lead guitars, yearning vocals and playing a wicked, frenetic saxophone solo.
