Send us a Text Message.Who doesn't love a book steeped in myth, legend, and local culture? Well, we certainly love them and are leaning into our fangirling over Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor.  Sunny is tearing up the football pitch at the Zuma games, getting in touch with her spirit face, and finding her place in her coven. We do have some questions though. For example, can Darlene make it through the author bio without laughing about Dr. Okorafor's cats? Is Anatov the best teacher we've encountered in a book we've covered for the pod even if he frequently almost gets his students killed? Are all of the spirit faces in Sugar Cream's office waiting for a new leopard person to be born or is it more like a Hall of Fame of great spirit faces? If we get really brave we may just ask the author on twitter. We're diving deep into bodily humors and archetypes, depictions of multilingual communities, and summoning masquerades. These Books Made Me is a podcast about the literary heroines who shaped us and is a product of the Prince George's County Memorial Library System podcast network. Elevated beloved! PART III of the Akata Series by Nnedi Okorafor "Akata Woman" (Chapters 15&16)! Join us to read the beginning of a new journey for the Oha Coven. Our main character, Sunny Nwazue, lives in Nigeria. Being a part of an Oha Coven of 4 in total including Sunny, ChiChi, Orlu, & Sasha. Looks like they finally decided to tell someone about all that's been going on with the Nimm village and Udide. They all agreed that Sugar Cream was the best option because well, she's Sugar Cream. They chose well because Sugar Cream was able to help Sunny determine how to go about reading the Nsibidi and the steps to follow. Sugar Cream couldn't stress it enough, however, Sunny must only read the Nsibidi when she's ready! Will Sunny be ready? Will Anyanwu make it harder? Stay up to date by following us on Instagram, and it's another great way to keep up new polls and more! ❤️ Instagram: @elevated_fhz Akata Series Part III is here. Being a part of an Oha Coven of 4 in total including Sunny, ChiChi, Orlu, & Sasha. Seems like a routine is starting to take place for Sunny. No unexpected 'surprises', just her teachings with Sugar Cream and Anatov, her lamb school and hanging out with her 'tribe'. How long do you think this routine will stay calm? Her body is still toughening up as if to prepare for something. Is it the return of Ekwensu? Let's keep reading and find out! Join us next week for 2 more chapters. New chapter readings will be released every Wednesday for Elevated Frequencies FHz "Wind It Down Wednesdays" & listen to a chapter or 2. Being a part of an Oha Coven of 4 in total including Sunny, ChiChi, Orlu, & Sasha. Ah there's no place like home. With all Sunny has experienced from the last year it's nice to know the love is still running strong under her household. Sunny was able to have some bonding time with her brothers Chukwu and Ugonna which isn't so common surprisingly. Chukwu soon to be off to college. Sunny has been making it a priority to master reading Nsibidi and honestly there's been improvement. Still working with Sugar Cream as Sunny's mentor.... her next task was to reface the tainted peppers patch where the lake monster attempted to capture her.... or Anyanwu. Will we find out?
