These pilings are now as hard as concrete because they were oxygen-deprived for centuries. Historical Achievements: Tommaso shares Venice's contributions to Western civilization. Early system of checks and balances in government (675 A.D.). The Arsenal shipyard, the world's largest industrial complex before the Industrial Revolution (1104 AD). In fact I really haven't gone on vacation outside of family vacations as kid. Even then we didn't really go to tropical places or islands. We mostly toured Florida and Tennessee. My dad loved road trips.So now in my 40's my girlfriend, who does do tropical vacations. Decided that we needed to get away and Cuba was place to go. We picked Cuba because the all inclusive prices were some of the best. They had a variety of resorts to pick from and the beaches are some of the best.It was my first time going and I had no expectations really. I'm also pretty laid back, as you can tell from the podcast. So it's pretty hard to ruin my good time. What if the “ordinary” marigold in your garden was actually a sacred plant with centuries of healing tradition behind it?In this week's episode, Texas-based herbalist Lauren Peterson shares how she first learned about the medicine of yauhtli (Tagetes lucida), an herb hiding in plain sight all around her. Commonly referred to as Mexican tarragon or Texas tarragon, this cheery little marigold is a common landscaping plant in Texas, and yet it has so many medicinal gifts (and it is oh so fragrant and delicious, too!).There are many ways you can work with yauhtli, but Lauren's favorite way to prepare it is an infused honey.
