It can help us put words to what's going on inside of us, bringing clarity and insights. It can give us a space to dream about what we want. Ultimately, journaling can help us get to know ourselves better. And journal prompts can encourage us to write ourselves into places we otherwise never would have gone. This morning, we're going to meditate and write about what brings you joy. Settle into comfort, Softening the muscles in your face, Lowering your shoulders, And letting your exhale release and relax your entire body. PAUSE… Now find your breath. And just be here for a moment with it. Riding its waves in and out, In and out. PAUSE… What brings me joy? Give yourself a few moments to marinate in this question, And then if you feel called to write what comes up, The music will play on as you do so. PAUSE… If you'd prefer to simply sit and be present to the answers that arise in you, Then that's fine too. Either way, give yourself the gift of pondering the question, What brings me joy? You can't seem to see, The possibilities, You're drowning and all is dark. PAUSE… So close your eyes now, And turn your attention away, From all the noise around you. The chaos distracts you, From the hope that's still here, So settle in and quiet down. Breathe into you, Deep and wide. Letting the air feed you, And remind you that you're alive. Exhale and contract, Concentrating within, Releasing and relaxing. LONG PAUSE… When you quiet the noise, When you keep fear at bay, You'll see hope in the distance. PAUSE… A tiny, glowing light, Who wants to show you the way, Wants to show you there's always a way. PAUSE… Reach out your hand, And follow her, Trust her. PAUSE… The closer you get to this warm glowing light, The more light you see that exists. The darkness slowly fades away, And soon, you are flooded with light, Possibilities, Opportunities. LONG PAUSE Breathe again, feeling the peace and comfort spreading through you along with a wonderful, warm feeling of love. LONG PAUSE Continue breathing until you naturally find a gently rhythm that allows the peace, comfort and love to flow through you with ease. LONG PAUSE With your next exhale, imagine standing before a majestic Buddhist temple tucked high in the mountaintops. PAUSE The temple is red with touches of white, and its pagoda-like tiers are breathtaking and lift like wings to the azure sky above. PAUSE As you gaze at the temple, you notice it rests on a secure rectangular platform. PAUSE Closing your eyes, you reach out and touch the wooden platform, and as you do, images of nature flood you. PAUSE In your mind's eye, The elements shoot up and stand guard around you, and plants and flowers sprawl out like a tapestry. PAUSE As your fingers run over the platform, you feel peacefully grounded in all that is Mother Earth. PAUSE A breeze with a hint of coolness catches in your hair, and you open your eyes to see a dome-shaped entrance to the temple. PAUSE Gently, you run your hand over it, letting a wave of love and joy ripple through you. PAUSE You take a breath, and center yourself, just as a group of monks enter the temple. PAUSE A young monk notices you, flashes a quick smile that spans his whole face, and nods, a clue to follow him into the temple. PAUSE As you enter, you are enveloped in a river of peace that gently streams through you. PAUSE You give yourself a moment just to breathe as you take in the aura of the temple. PAUSE As you look around the temple, you notice the beautiful burgundy-colored robes draped over the monks' sun-colored shirts. PAUSE Some of the monks sit on gold and red pillows that dot the floor; there is one left just for you. PAUSE With ease and comfort, you sit on the pillow, watching the monks prepare for meditation. PAUSE One monk lights dozens of oil lamps With corners that bend upward like a sail blown by the wind. PAUSE The room shimmers in the light, while another monk lights some incense. PAUSE The aroma permeates the air – scents of wood and herbs deepen your relaxation as you comfortably breathe them in. PAUSE Then, the monks sit quietly on the pillows and begin chanting, “Om Mani Padme Hum.” “Om Mani Padme Hum.” PAUSE The words gently reverberate in the air, and as the chant envelopes you, there's a sense of weightless to your body. PAUSE After a few moments, the words gently tumble off your tongue: “Om Mani Padme Hum.” PAUSE And with each word you chant, it's as if you're being lifted to the heavens, levitating in peace and divine freedom. PAUSE After a while, the chanting stops, and prayerful energy enters the space. PAUSE In this time and space, you find your own prayer– a prayer of peace, love, and gratitude. PAUSE And with each word of your prayer, you know you are changed. you are now a beacon of peace, love, and gratitude. NAMASTE, BEAUTIFUL

PAUSE… Notice how much deeper your own love grows as you share it with others. How much lighter you are, How much more joy there is inside of you. PAUSE… Now see if you can imagine another crowd of people appearing. These are the billions of other people in the world you have not yet met and do not know. You look around and look into the eyes of other women, men and children, And you immediately feel connected to them, One with them, Deeply aware that each of them have a significant life, And a history that deserves respect. PAUSE… Let your warm, pink light radiate out onto every single one of them, Connecting you, And showering them with the gentle loving kindness that continues to flow abundantly from you. PAUSE… Now see if you can imagine that beyond the crowds of people in front of you, You see all the animals and creatures of the world, The plants, the trees, the water and the mountains, And all of Mother Nature's wonders. You see the Earth, The sun, the moon, the stars, And the infinite depths of the Universe. They're all here. You are them, And they are you. And even when we try to bring our attention back to gratitude, It can feel like we're forcing thank you's through gritted teeth. So this morning's meditation will give you a chance to release what is blocking the gratitude from flowing, so you can truly receive the blessings all around you. So settle into a comfortable position, Taking a deep breath in, feeling your belly fill with fresh air, And then exhaling, feeling the release relax you even further, Melting your body, Easing your mind, And letting the nice, easy rhythm of your breathing bring you to the space of stillness inside. Breathe… PAUSE… Feel your mind and body relax their hold on what's blocking you. The stresses, Worries, Sadness, Desires to organize and perfect, The fears and negative thoughts. And as that abundance comes into our lives, there is more and more to be grateful for. So the intention of today's meditation is to walk through the doorway of gratitude into the life of abundance all around you. Let's start by adjusting your body so you can settle into a comfortable position. And take your first deep breath in, Immediately pulling your attention from the outside world into your beautiful, physical body. And then release your breath all the way out. One more deep breath in, Grateful for the cool air coming into your lungs and expanding your stomach, And exhaling it all out. Now return your breathing to its normal rhythm. PAUSE... What is one thing you long for right now? Hold the vision of it in your mind. PAUSE... Now as you breathe out, watch that vision dissolve and in its place, see all of the things you currently have, or have had in the past, that are similar to this longing. If you crave true love, for example, envision previous relationships you've had. If you want more money, think about the money you currently have. PAUSE... If judgements or emotions arise, Just let those go, and simply BE with the vision. As you look at this scene, invite yourself to think about all the blessings it has given to you. What you've learned, what you've gained, what you do have. And then say a silent thank you as you surround yourself with them all. LONG PAUSE... When we start with intentional gratitude for all the things and experiences we have in our lives already, it helps attract more of what we want. LONG PAUSE… Holding on tightly to the outcome we want, Will not ensure we get it. But it will steal our attention, Intensify our emotions, And cause our minds to obsess. PAUSE… So imagine your hand opening gently, On the outcomes it desperately holds. Imagine your fingers slowly peeling back. PAUSE… Watch those petals of desires, Unfurl and expand, Free from the pressure, Free to breathe. PAUSE… Breathe here with them, And find a gentle rhythm that nourishes. PAUSE… Feel the soft breeze kiss your face, And dance with the colorful petals in your open hand. PAUSE… Slowly and beautifully, The petals ride the waves of the breeze, As they float away in all directions, Free to land where they're meant to be. PAUSE Your hips feel a tad creaky, As they squirm in the bed, So send them some healing light, And let the comfort spread. PAUSE Your abdomen and lower back, The keys to movement and balance, You ask for muscles to soften, And some heat to relax in. PAUSE And you hear your core chakra, Talk about all the emotion, That sits in your center, And needs to be opened. Because gratitude grows exponentially, It compounds easily, And that raindrop quickly turns into a rainstorm of gratitude, Washing over you waves at a time. Leaving you joyfully saturated, And overflowing with gratitude. So imagine your arms are stretched up above you, Reaching to meet the falling raindrops. Eager to pay homage to all the good. The night is here upon you, And it's time for you to go. PAUSE… No matter what the day has brought, No matter how you feel, The nighttime lullaby calms you down, And holds you while you heal. PAUSE… Imagine that her arms are wrapped, Around you tenderly. This lullaby is here just for you, Unconditionally. PAUSE… So relax your body, clear your mind, And open yourself to her. She'll take all that you will give, So let go if you prefer. LONG PAUSE… Let your breathing slow you down, Feel the rhythm ease. Notice your body soften now, The tension really decrease. PAUSE… Do you hear that lullaby, Playing just for you? Each note was created especially, To cradle and comfort you. PAUSE… Slower, Slower, And slower you go, Lightness is in your heart.
