Alabama trounced the BYU Cougars in their Sweet 16 game 113-88. With the win, the Crimson Tide advances to the Elite 8 in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history. Veteran guard Mark Sears led the team in scoring with 34 points and 10 MADE 3-POINT SHOTS. Aden Holloway (23 points), Chris Youngblood (19 points), and Cliff Omoruyi (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Crimson Tide. Noting the production amongst the players the team has had over the years and sustaining great runs around this time of the year, while the players get mostly the praise; the model Coach Kelvin Sampson has set seems to have not gone too unnoticed as well. Following 7 consecutive tournament appearances along with 6 Sweet Sixteen appearances in the last few years, Coach Sampson looks to have made Houston a top destination of spots for recruits and prospects looking to succeed.
