Partout où l'on voyage en Occident, on voit des églises de pierre, de brique et de bois. Elles sont souvent magnifiques, visibles de loin, et elles témoignent encore aujourd'hui de l'influence de Jésus dans notre histoire. Pourtant, malgré leur beauté et leur présence, elles ne peuvent ni sauver, ni transformer les cœurs parce qu'elles ne sont pas les témoins de qui Jésus parlait lorsqu'Il disait: "Vous serez mes témoins". Dieu appelle l'Église et ses membres à être ses témoins. Et pour être un témoin efficace, l'Église doit être vivante, unie comme un seul corps, et visible au milieu du monde. Aujourd'hui, en Occident, c'est probablement ce troisième aspect qui est le plus difficile. Comment être un témoin efficace? C'est ce que nous explorons dans cette nouvelle série. Donald Trump wist al zeker dat de verkiezingen van 2020 waren gestolen, maar hij weet nu ook welke sinistere macht daarachter zat: China. Dat hij dat niet eerder had gehoord ligt aan de ‘deep state,’ de echelon van ambtenaren die het allemaal voor hem geheimhield. Die bewering is niets nieuws, en was door de Amerikaanse veiligheidsdiensten al in 2021 naar het rijk der fabelen verwezen, maar voor Trump blijft het thema – gestolen verkiezingen – consequent vasthouden. Hij richtte zich tot het volk met een toespraak vanuit het Witte Huis, wat bepaald niet alledaags is. Hij nam een voorschot op de Congresverkiezingen van 3 november, vanuit de stelling dat zijn tegenstanders er alles aan zullen doen om die ‘opnieuw te stelen.’ De oorlog met Iran lag even stil, maar is opnieuw, en in alle hevigheid, losgebarsten. Vergeleken met de complottheorieën over verkiezingen is dat voor Trump, de MAGA-beweging, het Congres en eigenlijk elke burger een veel groter probleem.
