News: The Disneyland 70th finally kicked off on Friday. While the lines for merchandise, 70th experiences, and food were longer than usual, the lines for attractions were very off-season feeling. Rise of the Resistance had a 35 minute standby wait at 4pm, and Space Mountain had a 40 minute wait. – https://www.micechat.com/415359-disneyland-update-celebrate-70-and-build-a-better-tomorrowland/ The 70th castle sculpture in the esplanade revealed an interesting twist this week – it is a music box! At least that is what is sounds like. Different, music box versions of Disney songs play throughout the day for passing guests. – https://www.micechat.com/415359-disneyland-update-celebrate-70-and-build-a-better-tomorrowland/ The new Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live show has debuted in the Disney Theatre in Disney California Adventure. The new show is a big upgrade from the last show in the theatre, and is still geared towards younger kids, with seating on the floor only. The show features characters, bubbles, snow, disco lighting, and more. Unlike the previous show, Mickey and Minnie are present throughout the show. – https://www.micechat.com/415359-disneyland-update-celebrate-70-and-build-a-better-tomorrowland/ After over two years, a part of Adventureland has returned in a different form. The Adventureland restrooms across from the entrance to the land have finally lost the not very temporary wall. The wall was put up over two years ago to cover the damage from a burst water pipe. The new wall features some plants, a highly-themed water fountain, and a dividing wall that matches the nearby building. – https://www.micechat.com/415359-disneyland-update-celebrate-70-and-build-a-better-tomorrowland/ The new live action Lilo & Stitch movie is coming to theaters on May 23rd, and Stitch has stopped by Disneyland to celebrate. Stitch came and had a busy day at the parks, but left behind evidence he was there. A Stitch-themed window has been taken over outside the Emporium. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/stitch-crash-lands-at-disneyland-for-70th-celebration/ Fans of the Animation Academy unite! New clips that play in the large screens around the main lobby area have been added and include “Coco,” “Princess and the Frog,” “Moana,” “Soul,” “Zootopia,” and “Encanto.” Some clips from “Lady and the Tramp,” “Pinocchio,” and “Frozen” were removed to make room. – https://www.micechat.com/415359-disneyland-update-celebrate-70-and-build-a-better-tomorrowland/ SnackChat: Magic Key Terrace – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disney-california-adventure/magic-key-terrace/menus/ Wine Country Trattoria – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disney-california-adventure/wine-country-trattoria/menus/ Sonoma Terrace – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disney-california-adventure/sonoma-terrace/menus/ Discussion Topic: Tage and Teresa's Trip to Disneyland and the Disneyana Event
Jim Hill and Lauren Hersey dive deep into the surprising origin of Stitch—and it's not as cuddly as you think. Before becoming Disney's mischievous blue icon, Stitch was pitched as a green, intergalactic outlaw leading a robot uprising. Jim shares the full, unfiltered story of Chris Sanders' original pitch, including unused scenes, a darker backstory, and a surprisingly heroic role for Pleakley. But first, Lauren recaps her latest Orlando trip with a look at: Discovery Cove travel hacks (bring your own water socks!) Changes at Magic Kingdom's Emporium and the scattered state of merch The growing mystery of Cinderella Castle's color shift Stitch merchandise overload ahead of the new live-action film The creepy (and hilarious) quirks of the new “Many Moods of Stitch” plush Puppetmetronics, pin trading, and a Stitch-themed shipping tip From castle color controversies to plushes with personality disorders, this episode proves that even Disney classics have an unexpected side. This week, even more things coming to the Disneyland Resort for the 70th, a sneak peek into the Walt animatronic, a new character coming to Avengers Campus, bananas are invading Disneyland later this month, fire heroes were honored, new seating was added to New Orleans Square, we talk to Artist Jerrod Maruyama, and more! News: More and more keeps being announced for the 70th Anniversary of Disneyland. A new light, sound, and projection moment will be coming to Carthay Circle and Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure. The moment will be set to the tune “Celebrate Happy,” the theme song for the anniversary. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/guide-to-the-70th-anniversary-at-disneyland-resort/ We have some new details about the Walt Disney animatronic experience coming to the Opera House in July. Various media outlets were invited to the Imagineering campus to see the life-sized concept sculpt, and to learn more about the show. Walt's voice in the show will be his own, with clips of his actual voice were painstakingly assembled from interviews. The animatronic itself is very lifelike. The posture, facial structure, and skin texture are “uncanny” according to MiceChat. – https://www.micechat.com/414430-disneyland-walt-disney-a-magical-life-revealed/ Another character from the Marvel Universe will be dropping by Avengers Campus for a limited time. Red Guardian, who first appeared in Black Widow, and is featured in the new movie Thunderbolts, will be meeting and greeting with guests. You can be sure to find him by checking the Disneyland App. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/meet-the-super-amazing-red-guardian-at-avengers-campus/ If you are going to be in Avengers Campus heading into Cars Land, or the other way around in the near future, be aware that the path between the two by Luigi's is closed. This has been done for construction of a new restroom facility to compliment the new additions to Avengers Campus currently under construction. – https://www.micechat.com/414422-disneyland-news-70th-anniversary-improvements-red-guardian-appearance-store-changes/ May the 4th was this weekend and the Disney Parks Blog shared a recipe from A Galaxy Far, Far Away. The Felucian Falafel and Hummus Garden Spread from Docking Bay 7 may take some planning – with one step taking from 12-18 hours – but is sure to be a tasty treat! – https://disneyparksblog.com/disney-experiences/disney-eats-exclusive-plant-based-star-wars-day-recipe/ Later this month, a fun team will be visiting the parks. The Savannah Bananas, a baseball team similar to the Harlem Globetrotters, will be at Disneyland on May 28, 2025. Special entertainment moments, and themed food and beverages will be on hand to celebrate. – https://disneyparksblog.com/disney-experiences/savannah-bananas-disneyland-may-28/ On Monday, May 5, there was a Heroes Salute Cavalcade to honor the first responders of the fires back in January. The Heroes ticket also kicked off to coincide with the cavalcade. – https://www.micechat.com/414422-disneyland-news-70th-anniversary-improvements-red-guardian-appearance-store-changes/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHGVwxv9H1E A rather abrupt change has come to New Orleans Square. The Port Royal Curios and Curiosities shop, right next to the Royal Street Veranda, has been changed into a seating area for diners. Since the shop duplicated the merchandise which can be found at Madame Leota's “Somewhere Beyond” shop, the old location was not needed. The decor was not updated much, except to turn it into a jazzy looking speakeasy. Tables and chairs are scattered about for guests to get out of the heat and find a place to eat. – https://www.micechat.com/414422-disneyland-news-70th-anniversary-improvements-red-guardian-appearance-store-changes/ At the Emporium on Main Street, there are a set of windows that are decorated with animated scenes from Disney classics. Some of them have been in rough shape in recent times, but they are currently being refurbished for the 70th. No word on when they will be completed, but work is underway. – https://www.micechat.com/414422-disneyland-news-70th-anniversary-improvements-red-guardian-appearance-store-changes/ SnackChat: 70th Foodie Guide – Disney Eats: Disneyland 70th Celebration Foodie Guide – Disney Parks Blog Discussion Topic: Freelance artist Jerrod Maruyama https://www.instagram.com/jmaruyama/

The culmination of the most influential work of dramatic literature is "He podcasts." - Phil takes 2007's Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium off the shelf this week and is reminded just how sweet this kid's movie is. Phil bemoans the criticism it has received in the past and hopes to shed some light on this forgotten film. He enjoys the cast and finds the story to be a good reminder of the power of belief. Dave struggled to find the humour in it and didn't share fully in Phil's enjoyment. However, he did find the performances to be enjoyable and the pacing of the film meant he was never bored. In the end, he found a little magic.

This interview was so entertaining to host because I felt like I was back in college for an hour and had the most interesting guest teacher who made me laugh, play games, and have fun - all while learning.Duncan Wardle, the former head of innovation and creativity at Disney, is on a mission to teach people how to access their natural creative abilities, to be innovative, explore curiosity, connect through empathy and tap into one's intuition. As soon as I saw Duncan in the online recording room, he just jumped straight into teaching and you'll notice that the first few minutes of our conversation were missing because I hadn't yet hit the record button. After a few minutes I thought, hit the dang record button, which I did. Next time, I'll hit it sooner. In this episode, you may wonder - who is leading the show? Our recording of #Pratchat83 was delayed at the last minute, so our discussion of The Ankh-Morpork Archives and The Discworld Almanak will have to wait until later in the month - hopefully around the 25th February. But subscriber Molokov suggested it might be fun to discuss some of the other, less book-like Discworld merchandise available, so in this shorter bonus episode, Ben does just that! We'd love to hear about your favourite merch, official or fan-made! Drop us a line and/or a photograph using the hashtag #PratchatMerch on social media, via email, or chat to us via our subscriber Discord. The merch Ben mentions this episode from the Discworld Emporium includes the Ankh-Morpork Doodle Map, Terry Pratchett's Hat silver pin badge; Death's Omega cloak pin; the Band with Rocks In tour T-shirt; the plushie Greebo and rat-onna-stick; beermats of pubs and brands; and the dried frog pills box. It's not as easy to link to individual items at Discworld.com, but things Ben mentioned from there include various pins and badges; rare collectible pins; shopper bags; acrylic beanies; and the Great A'Tuin golf umbrella. The Anoia tea towel Ben liked was also from the Emporium, not Discworld.com, though they have tea towels too. He forgot to mention Discworld.com's notebooks - the Unseen University and Assassin's Guild ones are especially good. And their T-shirts aren't as “subtle” as he remembered, though their socks are certainly a bit less subtle than the Emporium's. The episode title is a reference to a specific scene in Mel Brooks' 1987 Star Wars parody Spaceballs. We'll be back in late February with #Pratchat83, discussing The Ankh-Morpork Archives Volume I and Volume II, and The Discworld Almanak. If you're very quick you could still get a question in about those! In March we're commemorating the tenth anniversary of Terry's death by discussing his thoughts on dying from “Shaking Hands with Death”, the Richard Dimbleby lecture he gave (with help from Tony Robinson) in 2010. It's most readily available in A Slip of the Keyboard, but you can also watch the original speech on YouTube. It gets pretty heavy, but we'll approach this discussion with empathy and kindness. Get your questions for that one in using the hashtag #Pratchat84.
If you know, you know. It's a feeling that every Disney traveler experiences. Whether it's your very first Disney vacation or your 20th Disney vacation, there's one common and magical moment that every visitor experiences: that first walk up Main Street U.S.A.Subtle Disney inspired graphic t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies designed to capture that Main Street feeling It's a feeling that says “we're here.” A feeling when the magic is palpable and the anticipation of everything that's about to come is all around you. Few things encapsulate the magic of a Disney moment than a walk up or down Main Street. It affects how you walk, what you wear and what you do. For those who embrace it, we call that feeling Main Street SwaggerTM and we designed a whole collection to celebrate that feeling. What is Main Street Swagger? Main Street Swagger comes in many forms. Do you get dressed up, or put on a specially-selected outfit for your first walk on Main Street? Maybe it's a special shirt or a special Mickey headband or Mickey ears. Even kids in strollers can rock Main Street Swagger in their own way. We've seen it all over the years. Main Street Swagger can be dapper, Disney themed or a vacation vibe. Main Street Swagger can involve:Stopping for that must-have Main Street photo of you with the castle in the backgroud. Rocking a coffee as you swagger up Main Street in style...soaking it all in. Stopping by the Emporium or Crystal Arts to see what you can add to your outfit to enhance your swagger with something new. There's Main Street Swagger in all of that. But Main Street Swagger isn't just about what you wear, it's how you wear it. That swagger is the feeling of magic in your step. That “I'm home” state-of-mind. The Inspiration for Main Street Swagger at 1923 Main Street The inspiration for the Main Street Swagger phrase and collection came from a single photo. There's a photo of Mike Belobradic (1923 Main Street founder) from 1984. Mike has always had Main Street Swagger and this particular photo captured it all. It led the creation of the “Main Street Swagger” phrase and clothing that was born out of that. The photo features Mike walking with swagger up Main Street U.S.A. in March 1984,wearing a tiger-striped black and white shirt, complete with tropical flowers within the design. Everyone around him in the photo is wearing a plain solid-colored shirt. Mike definitely stands out with swagger. It was a bold move and the genesis for how the Main Street Swagger collection came to be. Main Street Swagger means not caring about the world around you as you make your way up Main Street U.S.A. and into the magic. You're home and the magic is within you. That's what Main Street Swagger is all about. What's Your Main Street Swagger? Every Disney traveler does Main Street Swagger in their own way. Geoff's Emporium on Dominion Road was opened in 1980, by it's namesake, Geoff Lamb. It's become an institution in Auckland, especially for those on the hunt for some bargain fabric or bits for an arts and crafts project. But after more than four decades, Geoff's son Derrol is shutting up shop on their flagship site to relocate to a Browns Bay location for semi-retirement. You know how it goes—another day, another haunting! In this episode, things get seriously spooky as we dive deep into one of the most terrifying hauntings ever—The Smurl Family Possession! You've heard of haunted houses, but this demonic case from Pennsylvania is terrifying, malevolent and down right frightful. The Smurl Family was tormented by a dark, malevolent entity that took over their home, turning their lives into a nightmare filled with violent levitations, eerie whispers, and full-on attacks. The hauntings escalated and after blessings by the local priest proved insufficient, Janet Smurl sought the help of Ed and Lorraine Warren (yes, those Warrens from The Conjuring) to investigate. But even the famous demonologists couldn't guarantee safety in this possession saga that gets darker and more twisted by the minute. Will the Smurl family make it out of this haunting alive, or are they destined to battle demons forever? On a lighter side, we're also sharing some fun personal paranormal experiences, including our unplanned matching pajama moment (hello, one brain cell) and our witchy adventure at Deadwick's Emporium in Portsmouth, NH. From tea leaf readings by Jezmina, a Romani fortune-teller to creepy ghost tours of the town's haunted streets.
