Be Kind - Jana James Toler Going to high school, one of the things I was “worried” about what whether or not if I had the “nicest” pair of shoes or what would my peers would think of the clothes I was wearing. Or if I was “good enough” to sit at the “cool” kids table. We sometimes live in a consumer world where the only thing we can think about is “me, me, me”. We often take for granted where our next meal is going to come from, if we are blessed enough to have family that is able to provide. Jana James Toler who has been teaching at Harmony Grove High School for 20 years tells us how hard it has been for the students as well as the teachers to adjust during this past couple of years. As a young teacher one thing that stuck with her was what Mr. Gibs her first principal had said to her, “treat them like you want your own kids to be treated”. So when school was shut down her mother like instincts, thought of those kids who need the two meals the school provides. As she tells us the importance of being kind to those around us because we may never know what they are going through. That is why she started the food pantry and providing backpacks and school supplies to the kids in need. So she could be an example to her own children as well as teaching everyone the importance of helping out those who are in need. Jana James Toler is not only a teacher but also an entrepreneur where she shares with us that her inner competitiveness has been one of the key factors of getting her business started. As well as what keeps her motivated and the secrete to why her business is so successful. There are many other important life lesson we can learn from this podcast with Jana James Toler be sure to go listen to all of it. If you identify with what @janatoler had to say be sure to follow her on IG @janatoler or on Facebook at Jana James Toler.

We all have those dreams or desire to either study or travel abroad. However, sometimes we are not sure how to make it happen or how to do it. On this first part of a three part series our good friend Ben tell us about what it is like to travel to the other side of the pond. As he adapts to the new American culture. Where he share his experince of what it feels being a student-athlete. As well as sharing and giving advice to you on how you can also become a student athlete. Ben also talks about the struggles he had to overcome at the beggining of his senior year of college and not being able to play the first 8 games due to an injury. But also shares how during that time, him and the team where able to overcome a lossing streak and turning it over into a winning streak where it took the team to the conference finals.Like any other college student after graduating college the next step in we all look for is for a full time job. Not being an American himself, this made things a little more complicated for Ben as he had to apply for a special type of work permit. After being rejected over 100 time from different types of jobs he still had the will power and determination to continue find the job that was the right fit for him. Eventually using the right connection. He was able to land a job at a markerting firm. After the year had passed he had needed to go back home to apply for this Green Crad. However, COVID-19 hit and stopped the whole world as we know it. Ben continues to share that experince and how he almost got denied entry back into the US. Be sure to come back the following weeks for Part II and Part III! We want to thank our good friend Ben for taking the time to come out and sit with us. Be sure to follow him on instagram @benjackholmes This one has been our longest podcast yet and we are excited it share it with you, that is why we are doing a three part series. As Seth always aspired to coach at the collegiate level he took a big risk and leap of faith by getting a coaching staff position at the University of Miami.
