The Unshakeable Hope May 18, 2025 Mason Worthy 1 Kings 17:1-24 1. Hope from our God is unshakeable “as the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.” 1 Kings 17:1 2. Hope from our God is not dependent on earthly circumstance “I have nothing baked, only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug.” 1 Kings 17:12 “The jar of flour was not spent, neither did the jug of oil become empty, according to the word of the Lord that He spoke by Elijah.” 1 Kings 17:16 3. Hope from our God leads us towards the impossible “Then he stretched himself upon the child three times and cried to the Lord, ‘O Lord my God, let this child's life come into him again.'” 1 Kings 17:21 “And the woman said to Elijah, ‘Now I know that your are a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is truth.'” 1 Kings 17:24 3. Rememberwhat God has done “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on earth.” James 5:17
What if peace with God wasn't something you had to chase, but something already secured? In Romans 5:1-11, Paul shows us that through faith in Christ, we not only stand justified but also stand in unshakable hope—even in suffering. God is inviting you to discover the deep assurance and joy that flow from his love poured into our hearts.

Luke 24:1-12This sermon focuses on the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the climax of Luke's gospel and the foundation of Christian faith. The resurrection is presented as an unshakable historical fact demonstrated through Jesus' honorable burial, the empty tomb, His appearances, the rise of Christianity, and the change in tradition to gathering on Sunday. The resurrection also provides believers with an unshakable living hope, as expressed in 1 Peter 1:3-4, offering the promise of resurrection life in the new heavens and earth with Jesus. Finally, the resurrection gives believers an unshakable everyday purpose to live faithfully, abound in the work of the Lord, and share the good news with others, following the example of the faithful women at the tomb.

Trust is a funny thing. By that I mean how we sometimes trust but other times not so much. For example, we trust that as we approach on coming traffic on the highway those drivers will follow the rules and stay on their own side of the road, even though they may be disregarding the rules about speed. We may not trust a politician yet we elect them and trust them to run the country we live in. In the same way we call on God in times of trouble yet trusting His word, His promises, His plan for our eternity, not so much. This month, Gene Appel who ministers with Eastside Christian Church in Anaheim, California has been walking us through the book of First Peter gleaning from its pages foundational life concepts that will help us live out Unshakeable Hope. One of the original 12 followers of Christ, Peter penned the letter of first Peter to early Christians to help them live in Hope through Unwavering Trust in the Eternal God and His plan for redemption through Jesus His Son. Okay, did you know that Trust is not just a noun, but also a verb? Here's Gene Appel with a piece of the action To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/326/29

Have you ever wondered, what drives this world, where this world is headed? Ever wanted to just shout: Stop the world, I want off. There were some folks, a long time ago, that were probably thinking just that. Persecuted, displaced from their homes, not really belonging. In the Bible there is a letter of hope written to people actually living that out. The Bible's book of 1st Peter is that letter. This week, Gene Appel who ministers with Eastside Christian Church in Anaheim, California is walking us through the book of First Peter gleaning from its pages foundational life concepts that will help us take on UnShakeable Hope. In his letter, the follower of Jesus, Peter uses a concept that most all of us find very, very scary. In fact, it goes against our very foundations yet it can be key to giving us a living hope through the grace of Jesus. Got ya hooked yet? Here's Gene to unpack it all To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/326/29

Sometimes we just wonder, am I enough? Am I too broken, too flawed, or even too exhausted to keep going? Over the next few weeks we invite you to listen in as we discover, from a Jesus follower named Peter, how God is bigger than our story, greater than our circumstances, and stronger than our storms. This month, Gene Appel and Mike Breaux, pastors with Eastside Christian Church in Anaheim, California with multiple campuses in Southern California and beyond, will be walking us through the book of First Peter gleaning from its pages foundational concepts that will help us become UnShakeable. So, here's Gene to help us shore up our Spiritual foundations with a blueprint for UnShakeable Hope! To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/326/29

In this hope-filled message, Ps. Katy differentiates what the world says hope is and what the word of God defines hope to be: unshakeable, an anchor for our soul, and a way to heal our hearts from discouragement and disappointment. If you need a dose of real hope, then let this message minister to your heart!

Jay DeMarcus wrote a new book called SHOTGUN ANGELS: My Story of Broken roads and Unshakeable Hope. He stops by to talk about how the Rascal Flatts formed and how his faith shaped his career. He started out playing in a Christian band and had a No. 1 song on the Christian Chart. He also talks about how he met his wife during a Rascal Flatts music video shoot and how he got a girl pregnant that lead him to a very dark time in his life...but how his faith pulled him through.
