Paul's Prayer Request.Text: Ephesians 6:19-20 – 2 Corinthians 12:9ffThe Christian has a ‘prayerful lifestyle' – a basic disposition to prayer, a heart that will turn to God for help in whatever circumstances, seeking His guidance and help, whatever might come our way. And we are to pray for others. So, having made that point, Paul now puts them to work, – admitting HE needs prayer and asking them to pray for him, in the difficult situation in which he finds himself. Finally Brethren...Text: Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. In Ephesians, we have seen how basic gospel principles can be practically applied to everyday situations in which we will all find ourselves. Marriage, child-rearing and work are only examples of how Christian ethics work. Now, Paul comes to the final section in this book…Read the NOTES HERE.This sermon was recorded at Templepatrick Reformed Church, and is reproduced here with their kind permission. Hosted on Acast. CD 1677 “Yielding the SWORD of the Spirit”(November 17, 2024 A.M. Service)As blood bought and blood washed believers we have been called to stand for the Lord Jesus Christ before a lost and dying world. We must learn how to battle according to the Word of God. We have been called to fight the good fight of faith, but how do we do that? Knowledge is power and we have been given the Holy Spirit to lead us and guide us into all truth so we can utilize the authority that Jesus Christ has left His church! *See 1 Timothy 6:12 (KJV) Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. The Word of God tells us that we will have to “Fight the good fight of faith” - meaning “to contend with an adversary”! Our adversary is the devil and one of his names is death! He does not want anyone to “lay hold on eternal life”! But our “fight” will be about staying in the measure of “faith” God has dealt to every believer! We know the “faith” comes by our continual hearing of God's Word (Romans 10:17)! But it takes more than just our hearing to learn how to “Yield the SWORD of the Spirit” and that is the core of our message this morning!*Text Hebrews 4:12 (KJV) For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.*Text Ephesians 6:11 & 17 (KJV) Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:Note “the word of God” is “sharper than any twoedged sword” that is able to reveal what is spirit, soul or body! We, the children of God must learn how to “Yield the SWORD of the Spirit” so we can “Fight the good fight of faith”! You have to use the right medicine for the right thing in order for it to work! You must follow the right rules for the situation in order to find success!#1 Two Sources *Read John 10:7-10 (KJV) Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly *Read Ephesians 6:10-17 (KJV) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:#2 Two Strategies *Read Proverbs 14:12 & 16:25 (KJV) There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof arSupport the show

Text: Ephesians 3:14-21When was the last time you reflected deeply on God's love for you? His unconditional, sacrificial, deep and abiding love. Some of us have grown up hearing, God loves you - but do we really believe it? Revival of the soul and renewal of godly affections often spring from a focused meditation on God's surpassing love for us.

(2 of 2) Paul told Christians to "redeem the time" which means to buy it back, use it well, guard it wisely. Paul also got a lot done, used his time well, and said, “imitate me as I imitate Christ.” * That's our goal. If we follow the example of Jesus, who used His time better than anyone, we'll be able to do just that. Join guest Jeremy Hykel and Jonathan as they discuss the Scriptures around Ephesians 5:16 and the challenging discipline of redeeming time. * Text: Ephesians 5:16-17 (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians+5&version=ESV) Links: (1) Help make PSB better: become a Patron at www.patreon.com/PureandSimpleBible. Text: Ephesians 5:15-16Time - we're more aware of it as we begin a new year, but will we be aware of it in glory? Scripture has much to say about time, and our relationship with it. Let's resolve to be intentional in how we prioritize and spend our time, knowing that our time here on earth is short and we are not guaranteed tomorrow.
