Facts and Filters 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (ESV) - Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 01) Thank God for what didn't happen. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (ESV) - We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed… 2 Corinthians 12:10 (ESV) - For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 02) Reframe the narrative. Philippians 1:12-14 (ESV) - I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, 13 so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. 14 And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (ESV) - For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 03) Look for God's goodness.
