Enda McDonagh grew up in Tallaght attending St Mary's National School and Templeogue College. He went on to study B Comm in UCD followed by a Masters in Accounting in the Smurfit Business School. He joined Craig Gardner Price Waterhouse (one half of what later became PwC) in 1994 via the annual milk-round recruitment sweep of universities that the big accounting firms all do. Enda worked as an auditor, making his way up the ranks to manager level, at which point he took advantage of PwC's international transfer system to take a role in Boston in 2000, spending three years in the US city. In 2006, he became a partner in the firm, led the assurance practice from 2015 and served eight years on the leadership team of his predecessor as managing partner, Feargal O'Rourke, before being chosen to lead the firm two years ago, taking over from O'Rourke in July 2023 for a four-year term – a second term is possible but we can talk about that later. Enda is married with three teenage kids which he often jokes is busier than the day job.... Sema Erla Serdaroglu, aðjúnkt í tómstunda- og félagsmálafræði á Menntavísindasviði Háskóla Íslands, sagði þar frá nýjum rannsóknum um menningarfordóma og við ræðum þær við hana. Anna Katarzyna Wozniczka, verkefnastjóri í málefnum flóttafólks í Árborg, og Lena Rut Guðmundsdóttir, sérfræðingur í málefnum flóttafólks í Árborg, settust líka niður með okkur til að ræða þróunarverkefnið „Vitundarvakning um málefni flóttafólks í nærsamfélagi“ í Sveitarfélaginu Árborg. Caroline Mohr hade precis fått sin proffslicens och var på väg mot Europatoppen i golf. Enda orosmolnet var den återkommande smärtan i knät. Att det några veckor senare skulle leda till amputation av ena benet hade hon inte kunnat föreställa sig ens i sin vildaste fantasi.Caroline fick 504 timmar för att förbereda sig för livet på ett ben. Hon bildade ett team som tog henne tillbaka till golfbanan på otroliga 10 veckor. En Afrique subsaharienne, 600 millions de personnes vivent encore sans électricité, selon la Banque mondiale. Une réalité qui affecte principalement les zones rurales et obligent les populations à recourir au bois de chauffage, au charbon de bois ou à des générateurs pour cuisiner, s'éclairer ou travailler. Des solutions peu sûres et coûteuses. Lors du dernier sommet africain de l'Énergie en Tanzanie, 30 chefs d'État et de gouvernements africains ont approuvé un plan de plus de 50 milliards de dollars qui devrait permettre de fournir de l'électricité à 300 millions de personnes d'ici 2030. Un programme colossal qui montre bien l'urgence de la situation. Car au-delà du confort essentiel, l'accès à l'énergie est aussi déterminant pour le développement économique des pays. Alors que le continent africain concentre 60% du potentiel solaire mondial, selon Global solar Council (GSC), miser sur les énergies renouvelables pourrait également lui permettre de combler son retard en matière d'électrification de manière propre. Ce serait également une opportunité de créer des emplois et développer l'économie locale des zones rurales. Comment associer les populations et les petites entreprises au développement du secteur solaire ? Smart grids, mini-réseaux solaires : quelles solutions simples et peu coûteuses à mettre en place ?  Émission à l'occasion du Sommet Climate Chance Afrique 2025 qui se déroule du 27 au 29 octobre 2025 à Cotonou au Bénin.    Avec : • Faridath Assouma, directrice technique de la Société Béninoise  de production d'Énergie Électrique (SBEE) • Delali Adedje, fondatrice et gérante de Yokoumi, une entreprise coopérative de production de beurre de karité. Vi besöker Statens Veterinärmedicinska Anstalt för att få reda på hur den lilla tandvalen funkar och varför den inte återhämtar sig i Östersjön. Lyssna på alla avsnitt i Sveriges Radio Play. Programmet sändes första gången 2/6–2025.Tumlare är en av världens minsta tandvalar, till skillnad från bardvalar och delfiner. Den spolformade kroppen kan bli upp till två meter lång, men vanligare att en fullvuxen tumlare stannar på drygt en och halv meter. Den väger mellan 50 till 70 kilo, den är mörk på ovansidan och ljus på undersidan och den tjocka huden saknar helt hår, detta trots att tumlaren är ett däggdjur.Det finns tumlare i norra Stilla havet, Nordatlanten och i Svarta havet. A hurling club in New York has played an important role in the development of hurling in the city.  Founded in 2010, the Hoboken Guards have played in 11 championship finals over the past 15 years. After winning the Junior Championship in 2017, they were promoted to the Senior ranks in 2018 – and what followed was a golden run. They captured the Senior New York Championship three years in a row: 2018, 2019, and 2020. They've also appeared in finals in 2011 through 2016, as well as 2021, 2022, and most recently, this year, when they faced Waterford in the New York Final. A game they unfortunately lost.  The squad for this year's final was led by player/manager Darragh Walsh, with coaching support from Brian Glynn, Eamon Glynn, and John Fitzgerald. The team was captained by David Mangan of Kilconieron, with a strong Galway backbone that included Johnny Glynn (Adrahan), Daniel Mottram (Kilnadeema-Leitrim) in goal, Conor Caulfield (Kilconieron), and Gary Corless (Gort) among the starters. Also on the panel were Hugh McDonagh (Cortoon), Enda and Declan Fahey (Kilbeacanty), and Paul Gordon (Tynagh-Abbey-Duniry). In the club's early days, it was Tipp men like Declan Hogan (former NJ/Kilkenny captain), Conor Costigan (Templetuohy), and Pat Egan (JK Brackens) who helped form the spine of the team, alongside Clare's Fintan Meehan (Sixmilebridge). But Galway has always had a huge presence – with players like Shane O'Grady (Tommy Larkin's and now a lecturer at ATU Galway), Noel Gorman, and Eamon Riordan also of Tommy Larkin's, Brian Casserly (Athenry), Shane Quinn (Kinvara), and Sean Costelloe (Ballindereen) all contributing over the years. The Hoboken Guards have not only made their mark on the field but also helped grow the game across the U.S. Their success sparked the formation of five other American hurling clubs, including Jersey Shore GAA. Two American-born players from the Guards' All-American B team went on to found clubs of their own: Mick Kinnelly launched Providence Hurling Club in Rhode Island, James Herron started Tulsa GAA in Oklahoma, and Dave Lewis established the Kean University Hurling Club in New Jersey. Ahead of this feature airing, the club's founder David Cosgrove has been flooded with stories, messages, and memories from past players – both in New Jersey and here in Ireland. He spoke to John Mulligan.
