„Õnn tuleb ära tunda," nii sõnab muusik Siim Aimla. Ta on 50. aastaga enda jaoks ära õppinud õnnevalemi, kuid valutanud sellepärast ka südant ja astunud vajalikke samme. Ta kasvas üles kultuurilises keskkonnas ja nii puutus ta juba lapsena kokku erinevate kirjanike ja muusikutega. Nii avaldas ta, et juba lapsepõlves oli tema silmis suurim sangar armastatud laulja Ivo Linna.

A hurling club in New York has played an important role in the development of hurling in the city.  Founded in 2010, the Hoboken Guards have played in 11 championship finals over the past 15 years. After winning the Junior Championship in 2017, they were promoted to the Senior ranks in 2018 – and what followed was a golden run. They captured the Senior New York Championship three years in a row: 2018, 2019, and 2020. They've also appeared in finals in 2011 through 2016, as well as 2021, 2022, and most recently, this year, when they faced Waterford in the New York Final. A game they unfortunately lost.  The squad for this year's final was led by player/manager Darragh Walsh, with coaching support from Brian Glynn, Eamon Glynn, and John Fitzgerald. The team was captained by David Mangan of Kilconieron, with a strong Galway backbone that included Johnny Glynn (Adrahan), Daniel Mottram (Kilnadeema-Leitrim) in goal, Conor Caulfield (Kilconieron), and Gary Corless (Gort) among the starters. Also on the panel were Hugh McDonagh (Cortoon), Enda and Declan Fahey (Kilbeacanty), and Paul Gordon (Tynagh-Abbey-Duniry). In the club's early days, it was Tipp men like Declan Hogan (former NJ/Kilkenny captain), Conor Costigan (Templetuohy), and Pat Egan (JK Brackens) who helped form the spine of the team, alongside Clare's Fintan Meehan (Sixmilebridge). But Galway has always had a huge presence – with players like Shane O'Grady (Tommy Larkin's and now a lecturer at ATU Galway), Noel Gorman, and Eamon Riordan also of Tommy Larkin's, Brian Casserly (Athenry), Shane Quinn (Kinvara), and Sean Costelloe (Ballindereen) all contributing over the years. The Hoboken Guards have not only made their mark on the field but also helped grow the game across the U.S. Their success sparked the formation of five other American hurling clubs, including Jersey Shore GAA. Two American-born players from the Guards' All-American B team went on to found clubs of their own: Mick Kinnelly launched Providence Hurling Club in Rhode Island, James Herron started Tulsa GAA in Oklahoma, and Dave Lewis established the Kean University Hurling Club in New Jersey. Ahead of this feature airing, the club's founder David Cosgrove has been flooded with stories, messages, and memories from past players – both in New Jersey and here in Ireland. He spoke to John Mulligan.

Under några månader varje år samlas tiotusentals alkfåglar på Stora Karlsö för att häcka. En unik miljö där forskare på plats följer fåglarnas liv på nära håll. Lyssna på alla avsnitt i Sveriges Radio Play. Stora Karlsö utanför Gotland är Sveriges enda fågelberg. På de branta klipporna på öns västra sida trängs 30 000 par sillgrisslor och 12 000 par tordmular just nu. Här ruvar de sina ägg och om någon vecka kastar sig de första sillgrissleungarna sig ut för stupet ner till sin väntande pappa i vattnet.Fåglarnas liv på klipphyllorna är intensivt och trångt. Inte sällan blir det slagsmål och risken att en trut eller kråka kommer för att stjäla ett obevakat ägg är ständigt närvarande. Via en specialbyggd hylla på klippkanten följer forskare alkornas liv i närbild. Jonas Hentati-Sundberg, docent i ekologi vid SLU och forskningsledare för Baltic seabird project, berättar om de senaste rönen om fåglarnas kommunikation och också varför det är så fascinerande med fågelberg.Alexandra Colbing, marinbiolog på länsstyrelsen på Gotland, berättar hur näringsväven i Östersjön runt Stora Karlsö ser ut och vilka organismer som föder öns rika fågelliv. Nyligen upptäcktes stora musselrev på 20-50 meters djup utanför fågelbergen, Musselreven renar vattnet från fågelbergets näringsöverskott samtidigt som de är viktiga för smådjur, fisk och fåglar.I programmet medverkar också bland andra Saga Kynman, Aron Hejdström och Agnes Källström från Baltic seabird project. Si on vous dit qu'il y a en Europe un pays, une culture dans laquelle le cheval est central, commun ? Un pays où, pour reprendre les mots de Enda Caroll, il est tout à fait normal de grandir autour des chevaux car "d'une manière ou d'une autre, il y a des chevaux dans toutes les familles, dans les milieux agricoles et dans la culture irlandaise en général". Enda poursuivait même notre échange en rappelant qu'il y avait 12 cavaliers irlandais dans le top 100 du moment.S'il fallait encore une fois prouver cette racine équestre commune aux cavaliers irlandais, alors nous pourrions utiliser le récit qui va suivre. Michael Duffy est bien l'un d'entre eux. Un enfant du pays, un pur fruit de cette culture équestre, de cette nation qui grandit et vit avec des chevaux jamais très loin, jamais trop loin. Ces racines, Michael Duffy les porte en lui comme il porte les couleurs de son pays. A 31 ans, il enregistre déjà plus de 2500 départs dans des épreuves internationales avec pas moins de 160 chevaux différents, et je ne vous parle que des compétitions FEI. 26% de premiers quarts dans l'ensemble des GP auxquels il a participé, 10% de podiums, 3% de victoires.  Ça laisse rêveur... et ce n'est qu'un début. Car Michael Duffy poursuit de grandes ambitions. Tumlare är en av världens minsta tandvalar, till skillnad från bardvalar och delfiner. Den spolformade kroppen kan bli upp till två meter lång, men vanligare att en fullvuxen tumlare stannar på drygt en och halv meter. Den väger mellan 50 till 70 kilo, den är mörk på ovansidan och ljus på undersidan och den tjocka huden saknar helt hår, detta trots att tumlaren är ett däggdjur.Det finns tumlare i norra Stilla havet, Nordatlanten och i Svarta havet.
