I work 5 days a week with a TV equipment company. However on Friday evenings and all day Saturday I work in a local art gallery. When Pam was still alive I would have hated working 6 days a week. But now I look forward most to my Friday evenings and Saturdays in the gallery because you never know who you will meet. On this day there were not one, not two, but three incredible meetings that can only be explained as being arranged by God. Pam Gelsomini has been coming to Block Island since she was born. Back then her name was Pamela Anderson. Go ahead and make your Baywatch joke- we did too. Pam will laugh right along with you. However Pam's accomplishments are no laughing matter. We'll get to those in a bit.The Breakers was a boarding house on Corn Neck Road that had been owned and operated by Pam's family since the late 1800's. It was a place where Swedish folks would congregate to enjoy their summer vacations. They even had a six hole (Par 3) golf course on the property back then. Sorry! Swedes only. Pam recounts her time at the Breakers as a child. Back then, days were filled with picking blackberries, fishing and Sunday afternoon trips down to the ferry dock to wave goodbye to the "Daddy Boat". Also, we find out what interesting deer deterrent Pam's Uncle Billy used to stockpile. When Pam was old enough to work she took her first job as a waitress at Ernie's. There she met her friend Rich Trethaway. We would've had Pam on the show anyway but she and Rich have been palling around since they were in their early teens. Pam and Rich talk about some of the good times had in the employee housing up above Finn's. We also learn how Pam credits her experience in the service industry with informing her sales techniques later on in life.Pam's always been a lifelong artist and studied at Syracuse University where she refined her craft. But she found that after graduation, the life of a starving artist wasn't for her. One of the gigs she took was designing the treads on the bottom of sneakers and shoes. This may seem like a mundane job. But Pam ends up parlaying her knowledge into a business opportunity that would prove to change the course of her life.Put simply, Pam CRUSHES the business world. She'll give you the details. Yet- while Pam would prove to be a VERY successful entrepreneur, her passion was always art and food. "Dish Off the Block" is a food blog that Pam began after celebrity chef, Jaques Pepin advised her not to write a cookbook (because "everyone's doing that already"). So instead, Pam's blog is running full steam ahead and is enjoying success marketing her own line of spices. As if we needed proof that Pam is a foodie, Rich and Pam talk about their experiences in the world of competitive cooking where they felt the heat in the kitchen. Now quit stalling' and hit PLAY, Cap'!

Pam shares a fascinating story that has brought her all over the country. In this episode, Pam discusses how she can take all of her passions and combine them into a very successful real estate business. Originally from a small town outside of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Pam Blair shares her love for the Steelers as well as debunking a common old myth of the city. Pam Blair attended Carlow University, where she double majored in Biology and Psychology. When attending, she was on the pre-medicine track, but after graduation decided she did not want to be a doctor. Instead, she landed a job with a research team in the field of social psychology, where she spent seven years interviewing young women who had breast cancer. At the age of thirty, Pam found herself at a turning point in her life and realized it was time for a change. After traveling to New Mexico yearly to attend a stone carving symposium as she was an artist, she found it to be very transformational. She realized her life was changing, and she had some hard decisions to make. When on the plane back to Pittsburg, she realized that she was going back to Pittsburg to tell everyone goodbye. Pam Blair quit her job, got a divorce, and got in her car to drive across the country to live in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She met her new husband there and was looking for a niche business to start and landed on a window-washing business that saw a 25% increase every year. Pam eventually went to Portland, Oregon, to visit the naturopathic school and spent three days in the city. When Pam and her husband returned home, they could not get Portland out of there mind and decided to move there in 2004. Pam's best friend soon got her into real estate as she was a very successful real estate agent. Within one month of being in Portland, she became a real estate agent and was later joined by her husband in 2011. Pam Blair found a way to combine being a realtor and yoga instructor branding the company to be YogaBug Real Estate after wanting to serve her yoga community...

Pam Anders first experience with desert was after a drive from Oregon. Pam's first husband suffered with asthma and his mother, who was living in Twentynine Palms suggested they move down to improve his health. Arriving in the dark, they were a bit off course. With no signs or lights, they pulled to the side of the road and Pam got out of the Volkswagen to take a look around. She looked up and almost fell... the star-filled sky was like nothing she'd ever experienced. And the silence was nothing like she'd ever heard. After a few years they went back to Oregon. In this episode, Pam says the pull of the desert was so strong, she had to return, this time on her own, taking a number of jobs simultaneously to support herself. She worked at the bank (now Edchada's Mexican restaurant), a grocery store, a florist and Del's Shoes. She met and became friends with many of the Twentynine 'old timers', one couple being the J.B. Carrol's. When Pam told them she was looking for a house to rent they said, "Why rent, when you can buy?" Thinking it was not possible, the Carrol's sold Pam her first home - they even held the note. In 1976, Pam became San Bernardino County's first female Animal Control Officer, selected as one to fill eight openings with 145 applicants - most of whom were men. Pam says she believes in claiming your desires and the power of visualizing you already have what you want. At the age of 26, she was trained, provided a four-wheel drive truck, a shotgun and a come-a-long and was on-call twenty-four hours a day. Pam shares some humorous and touching stories from her time in that role. These days Pam doesn't live in Twentynine Palms, but maintains a cabin there where she spends hours and days at a time creating art and treating herself well. With her long-time interest in antiques, you may find her at Pioneer Crossing in Yucca Valley, tending to store displays and guiding out of town visitors to sites in the area they should not miss. Pam is excited to share a book she is currently reading: "The White Heart of the Mojave" by Edna Brush Perkins who, along with her friend Charlotte Hannahs Jordan, hired a guide to take them from their homes in Pasadena on an adventure through Death Valley. You Unschool? How will your children get into University? I am asked this question many times and as my kids get older, I am asked this more.In this episode I reflect on my personal opinion around this topic. Why this can feel like this is a question about my parenting, not education. Why University should be the student's choice, not the parent's. Is University an extension of life long learning or a reflection of your success as a parent? If your child chooses to go how they can enter as a homeschooler or unschooler. The downside of University. Ready to carry debt? Why Universities are recruiting homeschoolers. If University reflects our fast paced technological world and the access it gives. What our family learning goals are. OECD education report data on post secondary schooling. Previous Episodes about homeschoolers or unschoolers and University Chip Franks Part 2~ Advice From DadChip talked about how his daughter got into the College of her choice. She did not have a high school diploma or used curriculum. Judy Arnall~Homeschool Advice From An ExpertJudy spoke about how 4 out of her 5 unschooled kids entered completed University. (The 5th is currently high school age). Jim Sheils~How One Entrepreneur Is Overturning The Traditional Education ModelJim questioned if University fulfills what you need to meet your dreams and passions. Pam Laricchia~Exploring UnschoolingPam reflected on the REAL reasons why you would be attending University. “College is a tool that can be used to meet a goal, not a goal in and of itself. It’s an option on the learning platter.”When Pam's daughter looked into college she found that many of the courses in her major she already had a firm knowledge in. Unschoooling had allowed her the time to the time to pursue her passion and focus. She chose to move to New York City where she could find mentors and collaboration. I hope you are having fun in your learning journey. I hope this includes creating and exploring. And remember there are many options on this learning platter of life. With the number of rumors that circulate this case, it’s easy to become overwhelmed. Seemingly credible leads soon turn into conspiracy theories. When one follows these leads out, they soon have numerous people involved either in the abduction or the cover up, and the people supposedly involved include the family and law enforcement. If you believe some of these theories, half of the city of Milan is involved. I’m not saying that it is only one person responsible, but my gut is telling me that it is fewer people, not more, who are involved in this. To me, nailing down the timeline of the night in question is the key to this. If we take into account the way Cindy and Steve have said they found the house that night, that leaves a two, two and a half hour window for this to have happened. Unless this was a random abduction, then someone knew she would be at that house alone. But no one believes this was a random abduction. That is the only thing that everyone can agree on. And here’s the thing: It has been stated that Cayce stayed at the church longer than others because she was helping clean up. So it wasn’t like it was set in stone as to exactly what time she would be home. That’s why the alleged phone call from the church is so wildly important in my mind. Also, if Cindy and Steve were out that night, it’s not as if there would be a concrete time that they would have gotten home either. So it was either random good luck for her abductor to strike when she was home alone, or it was someone who was around that night. That should narrow down the list of people, instead of expanding it like these conspiracy theories do. So the details of the night of August 16th into the early morning of the 17th are of the utmost importance. And the people who know these details aren’t willing to talk to me. I’m Brandon Barnett. And this is Searching For Ghosts. Last episode, Cayce’s aunt Pam mentioned this: This isn’t the first time I’ve heard of this alleged truck in the driveway. Cindy McDaniel in the August 15, 1997 edition of The Jackson Sun: QUOTE: “And I told them about an anonymous phone call about a truck seen in the driveway that night around 12:30 a.m. I guess they’re investigating this, I don’t know.” UNQUOTE If there is one person who is more frustrated with the amount of conspiracies floating around and the lack of people coming forward with legitimate information in this case, it is Lucas, Cayce’s cousin. Lucas has already been helping me behind the scenes throughout this podcast. He was the one trying to connect me with Cindy. We’ve tried floating different trial balloons with this podcast to get people to come forward. We’ve shied away from talking about certain things in order to give people an opportunity to speak first. But now, we’re going to take it up a notch. When Pam mentioned the eyewitness account of the truck in Cayce’s driveway that night, that, in my mind, set us on the path of another possible scenario with someone other than Mr. X. This is a path that Lucas and I have hesitated to go down…until now. According to my sources, this is the path that Cindy was trying to get law enforcement to look into from day one. The alleged truck in the driveway possibly leads to another house, which leads to a couple of different people, neither of whom is Mr. X. It leads to a lesser mentioned name…Mr. Y
