Harry and Simon have been catching bad guys and recording multiple episodes of Antiques Road Trip this week. That's right, fraudsters are at it again but thanks to the work of all those behind the scenes all is well. On the other side of the same coin Simon has been dealing with items involved in a museum heist. Listen in to find out more about this bumper week. Stick with us as we bunk off to record anecdotes, interview others in the industry and basically gabble on. If you enjoy the podcast, please leave us a rating. Recorded live at the Pennsylvania Antiques Show, this panel brings together leading voices in the worlds of design, material culture, and collecting to explore what it means to live with objects today.Framed as a conversation on collecting—why we do it, how we begin, and what it means to steward the past—the discussion moves beyond acquisition and into the role objects play in shaping identity, memory, and home. Together, the panel considers how a new generation is approaching antiques and material culture with a fresh perspective, balancing scholarship with instinct, preservation with use, and tradition with evolving taste. At its heart, this is a conversation about how we carry the past forward, and why it still matters.About the PanelThis collecting-focused discussion was convened as part of the Pennsylvania Antiques Show, the inaugural gathering of dealers, scholars, and collectors dedicated to the study and appreciation of American decorative arts and material culture. The panel explored the evolving nature of collecting today, from connoisseurship and scholarship to accessibility, storytelling, and lived experience, offering multiple entry points for both new and seasoned collectors.PanelistsMichael Diaz-Griffith is a writer, designer, and historian working at the intersection of past and future. As CEO of the Design Leadership Network and Vice Chair of The Winter Show, he brings a storyteller's instinct and a strategist's insight to cultural life, helping organizations connect creative leadership with curatorial thinking. Through projects spanning museums, foundations, ateliers, and publications, he is known for making the material past feel newly alive. He is the author of The New Antiquarians: At Home with Young Collectors (2023), which helped spark renewed interest in antiques among a younger generation. Text me your thoughts or questions on this episode! In this episode of Think Like a Designer, I sit down with Christina Cruz to talk about what slow style really looks like in action. Her aesthetic may be more modern and pared back than mine, but it's just as layered and soulful. We explore how she blends antiques with clean lines, incorporates meaningful travel finds, and uses natural materials to warm up contemporary spaces. From gallery walls built around collected art to a moody office-turned-bar and family-friendly kitchens that don't sacrifice beauty, Christina proves that great design isn't about trends—it's about intention. Different look, same philosophy: create a home that tells your story.Download the free guide to Define Your Signature StyleBuy the book, "Slow Style Home"Learn more at our website Want to finally define your style? We're hundreds of episodes into Sleeping with Celebrities but we're just now getting a PBS voice on? I know. We're so sorry. But this will make up for it. The brilliant, engaging, and funny Simeon Lipman from Antiques Roadshow knows more about baseball cards and, actually, punk rock memorabilia than most people will ever know about anything. And his knowledge includes a whole lot of arcane data. Let him regale with tales of Jimmy Claxton and of Simeon's long quest to acquire that one Billy Ripken card. You know the one I'm talking about. Yes, baseball can be exciting, and, yes, punk rock even more so, but we promise you that the dulcet tones of Simeon Lipman (current PBS voice) and John Moe (former public radio voice) will zonk you out faster than a fastball to the head and with much less pain.Watch Antiques Roadshow online or on PBS.
