Dr. Orit Wimpfheimer, Chief Medical Officer at Nanox, a medical imaging AI company using technology to detect early signs of diseases through opportunistic screening of CT scans. The AI platform identifies signs of diseases such as osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease that may have been overlooked by the radiologist. The tools are designed to be integrated into the radiologist's workflow to provide quantified measurements to guide clinical care decisions leading to improved patient outcomes. Orit explains, "The number of CT scans over the last 20 years has risen astronomically. People are getting CT scans for many reasons, and there's a lot of data on the images that doesn't get translated into patient care. And what our AI tools do is to scan all those CT scans in the background unobtrusively, so they look for signs of chronic conditions and highlight those to the radiologists while they're reading the scans. This ensures that chronic diseases are commented on in the reports, initiating a clinical pathway to help treat those diseases at the early stages of their disease processes. Ultimately, we're trying to find diseases much earlier to treat them much better and therefore increase the quality of life and the length of life by treating these diseases before they become very symptomatic." "So our tools are actually measurement tools. When the radiologist looks at the images, they have their checklist in their mind, myself included. I'm a radiologist. Things we're always looking for on the scan, and then we pay attention based on the patient's clinical history or rule out pneumonia, rule out cancer, whatever it is. Sometimes these chronic diseases might be lurking in the background, but they don't get attention from the radiologist. And even if the radiologist is super careful and tries to find everything on the exam, we don't have time to start measuring things. And when you comment on something without giving a quantified measurement, it's very hard for the clinician down the line to know what to do with this patient. It's too vague. When we give quantified information, the doctor, after the radiologist, can take that quantified information and then know where to send the patient next and what to do next with the patient. And that's critical because we don't want to drop patients along the way, the clinical care pathway, because then it's ineffective." #NanoxVision #AIinHealthcare #HealthcareAI #MedAI #RadiologyAI #HealthcareInnovation #Medical Imaging #Radiology #EarlyDetection #PreventiveCare #PatientCare nanox.vision Download the transcript here

Israel's citizens have had to cope with the emotional challenges of the threats their country has faced during its first two decades. Emotions of Conflict, Israel 1949-1967 (Oxford UP, 2024) unpacks the history of citizens' emotions—an analysis of the reports about how they felt and of the emotional regime—the emotional repertoire designed by political leaders and cultural agents wishing to mold the feelings of Israeli citizens. The perspective of the history of emotions leads to hitherto untapped and nuanced insights about the weaknesses and strengths of Israelis, and reveals new connections between identity, morality, state-sanctioned violence, politics, and law, along with a new understanding of the motivations behind policy makers' decisions. In a change to our regular format, and in advance of the expected release of a further three hostages, today's show features a conversation between me and Almog Meir-Jan. Almog was seized by Hamas on October 7th, 2023 and held hostage inside the Gaza Strip until he was rescued by Israel's security forces at the age of 21 in one of the most daring rescue operations ever undertaken by Israel. That operation, which took place on June 8th, 2024, was renamed Operation ARNON, after Y.A.M.A.M. operator, Chief Inspector Arnon Zmora, who was wounded by Hamas terrorists and later died of his wounds. Along with Almog, Noa Argamani, 26, Andrey Kozlov, 27, and Shlomi Ziv, 41, were also rescued. On December 10th, 2023, I interviewed Almog in front of a live Manhattan Audience, to gauge his reflections on his time in captivity, his perspective on the rescue operation, his outlook on life now that he's freed, and his view on the need to redeem all of the remaining hostages. I also praised his mother, Orit, whom our organization escorted throughout her fight to ensure that Almog's plight remained at the forefront of public consciousness, and who we brought to address members of the U.S. House of Representatives, members of the Senate, and legislators in the British parliament and government.Support the showThe MirYam Institute. Orit Mark Ettinger has been through a lot. She lost her father in a terrorist attack (a Hamas terrorist who was released during the Gilad Shalit exchange), her brother while serving in the Mossad, her cousin rescuing Jews on October 7, and her brother in Gaza. Yet, she radiates faith, light, positivity, and hope. Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier, was captured by Hamas in 2006 and held in Gaza for over five years, sparking widespread public campaigns for his release. In 2011, Israel secured his freedom in a controversial deal, exchanging 1,027 Palestinian prisoners, including those convicted of serious crimes. While his return was celebrated as a national priority, the high cost of the exchange raised concerns about security and future kidnappings. I'm Alex Segal and today, I am speaking with Orit Esther Riter, an Emuna Energizer (I love that), a Renowned Inspirational Speaker, Author and the Practicing Founder of the First Haskamah-Approved Torah-Centric Energy Therapy Program. After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 19 years ago, emuna was the answer to Orit Esther's healing, growth, and building of a solid foundation with Hashem. So much so, she redirected her culinary chef career to a more meaningful path of spreading emuna. Orit Esther believes that every soul is beautiful and holds positive energy and light that deserves to shine and therefore single-handedly began an emuna movement worldwide devoted to helping others heal from trauma and pain. Her teachings are based on the work of the Holy Ba'al Shem tov and focus on practical strategies to restore emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual health. In this episode, we go deep into Orit Esther's story — staring way before her diagnosis, and how she persevered through all of the challenges along the way. We learn how she found Hashem in different ways at different points along the journey, and how relationship grew and matured as she did.The ups and downs are vast, yet the way she cultivated emuna and real healing in it is the most inspiring. It's impossible to hear this story and not feel inspired to work on your emuna and really grip it with all that you have.In a time now, in Kislev, and in the world when we're experiencing darkness, Orit Esther's story will bring you back to the light. Her story will invigorate you and remind you why we're doing all of this, what the grounding force is when you live a life with Hashem, and how and why to consistently get back to it.I'm so honored to have powerful woman on the podcast and so excited for you to hear her message. When thinking about our toolkit, most acupuncturists, and patients too for that matter, think about needles. Our job, it's to use those whisper thin slivers of steel with skill and accuracy. But sometimes the best tool for the job might not be a needle. In this conversation with Orit Zilberman and Hila Yaffee we consider the use of Hui Yin, Ren One.For sure this point it's important and there are challenges to using and learning to use this influential meeting of yin.Listen into this discussion on both the trauma and healing that can result from working with Ren One, how our own image of what it means to be a doctor can influence how we think about working with this point, and some non-needle ways to powerfully unlock the capacity for healing at the Meeting of Yin.

What use is the Turner prize for contemporary art? Plenty, decides Orit Gat in her latest Voice Notes.
Confidence and curiosity make a powerful tandem. Individually, either could be a positive catalyst or, if misplaced, prove to be a distraction to meaningful progress. But as a combination, they often create a mindset where even failures become learning opportunities and stepping stones along the S Curve. Bain & Company Chairman Orit Gadiesh has these two traits in spades. From her early school days through her almost five decades at Bain, Orit's curiosity has never waned. Trained to always ask that extra question, she's a student of the world around her, whether the subject is business-related or religiously reading books from all the countries to which she's traveled. When Bain faced severe financial hardship in the late 1980s, it was Orit and Mitt Romney who reversed the company's course and steadied the ship. How? Through extreme confidence, often telling curious competitors, “We're better than you!” Today, Bain is considered one of the big three management consulting firms in the world. Orit has occupied the chairman's seat since 1993.

Orit Gat's art summer brings her to the Kunstmuseum in the Swiss town of St Gallen, for Burning Down The House, an exhibition exploring ideas of family.
Orit Gat makes a journey by train, and in her mind, to the seaside, to encounter artist duo Revital Cohen and Tuur Van Balen's exhibition, Daughter of A Dog.
Fair warning? This is one of those episodes. Ask me what's it about, and I'll respond by asking: what is it not about? I met up with Orit Gidali – like, actually packed my microphone and went to meet her – who's one of my favorite poets and writers. Over a few glasses of red, we talked about… the human condition, I guess: Sorrow and joy, scarcity and expansiveness, attachment styles and meditation, divorce and heartbreak and exaggerated earrings and sex and passion and the brokenness of us all and violence and war and hurt and vulnerability and empathy and compassion. It's one of my favorite episodes ever, even with the wine and acoustics messing up some of the sound - maybe even more thanks to that, actually. Enjoy. This is such a deep, vulnerable, and beautiful conversation. Orit and her husband discussed opening their relationship fairly early on. However, personal history and trauma made the conversations scary and triggering for Orit. She shares with us her powerful journey of healing over the last decade and how she and her husband currently explore polyamory together. She speaks elegantly about her path of healing trauma, transitioning and grieving relationships, holding multiple opposing truths at once, her brief experiences in swinging, and so much about new relationship energy (NRE). We absolutely love this one and hope you do, as well. Orit doesn't just walk the walk, she also loves helping others. She is a Board-Certified Dance/Movement Therapist, a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, and has a MS in Dance/Movement therapy with over 13 years of experience. As she says on her website: "I call myself a Trauma and Relationship Expert because I've helped thousands heal from past wounds and improve their relationships. But to be honest with you – I'm still making mistakes in my own relationships. I've had 10+ years of therapy, coaching, and plant medicine journeys – yet, I'm still learning. I've grown so much since the days I used to sabotage my relationships with uncontrollable jealousy and fear. A decade ago, I could barely stand the idea of my husband texting another woman. Now, we're in a loving & stable polyamorous marriage. Healing does and can happen! I am living proof and it is my mission to share it with the world as best as I can. This has been far more than a personal transformation. This is my calling." Please check out all of her amazing work at www.oritkrug.com. Check out the full show notes here.
