Andover Baptist Church's weekly talks from our Sunday services. Hampshire, UK.
In this episode, Chris and Becky talk about Jesus' very real sense of connection to God - who he called his father. How did Jesus understand that relationship, what does it mean for his apprentices to be invited into that relationship, and how do we inject some life back into the practices that people typically call on to find connection with God? If you've ever experienced a sense that there's something bigger out there, then this episode will affirm that you are invited into a real relationship with the God of the universe!
Chris and Becky talk about the big MISSION or the big PURPOSE that Jesus invited his followers to take up for themselves. If you ever feel instruction-less, aim-less or purpose-less in your life, then this episode (and Jesus' invitation) is for you!
What is the goal of following Jesus? Is there a bigger point that we have missed? In this episode Chris and Becky ask WHY Jesus thought it was important that people followed him, and WHY it's worth being motivated to follow him today!
What did Jesus actually start? What was he initiating? A new religion, a new philosophy? Or something else? Becky and Chris kick off the Apprentice Series Podcast as they talk about Jesus' invitation to 'Follow Me.' What does that mean? What have we missed? And can I take him up on it?

How will the resurrection actually work? What about the people we've lost? What about the people we leave behind? Will I see the people I miss again? As we bring this 15 day journey into land those are the questions we're asking! We hope this conversation - and this whole podcast - inspires you to live in the light of Heaven and maybe even share the hope of Heaven with somebody you know. Today's Bible passage is taken from the letter of 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
One of Jesus' final promises to his followers before his execution reveal that Jesus knew where he was headed in death and intended to save a seat for his friends in Heaven. What difference could it make in your life right now, especially to your levels of anxiety, to know that there's a heavenly seat saved for you? That's the question we're finding out more about in this episode. We're in John 14:1-6
In this podcast we're getting to the bottom of perhaps one of the most urgent questions we might have when it comes to Heaven...Am I good enough? The answer might surprise you! We dive into Philippians 3:7-14 where Paul describes his law-abiding past and why he's opted for a new way of living since coming to know Jesus.
Wait a second...you mean Heaven isn't just for me? The New Testament (the writings in the Bible about Jesus and after Jesus) tells us that in Heaven we'll live in unity with one another...so how do we behave like people who are looking forward to spending eternity together? That's the question raised in today's Bible passage from the book of Philippians. (Philippians 2:1-16)
What did Jesus say it took to get a place in the Kingdom of Heaven? It wasn't what his contemporaries thought, and it might not be what you think either... In this episode we meet a defrauder called Zacchaeus (See Luke 19) who found himself to to be the object of one of Jesus' most controversial statements..."The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost" Find out what that means for your place in Heaven in this episode!
Ever feel aimless in life? Have your goals ever turned out to be worth less than you thought? Today we head to an ancient passage in the letter written by Paul to the Corinthian church, where Paul describes a life full of purpose and why we don't have to live without a worthwhile end in mind. We hope this episode helps you recover or discover your purpose and run your race well!
What is actually going on in Heaven? When you imagine 'eternity', you might imagine endless time loops, or no sense of time at all...but what if Heaven is a place where stuff happens, where things grow, and where life is full of purpose? That's the conversation we're having today as we head into a stunning picture of Heaven from John's visions in the book of Revelation. If you want to follow along with what we're reading today, we're in Revelation 22:1-5
In this episode we dive into the Old Testament (the first half of the Bible) for the first time in this series as we explore what the ancient King of Israel and world-class songwriter David had to say about God's provision for him in this life and in the life to come. (Check out Psalm 16 for yourself!) We'll discover one simple practice that can change our hearts and minds and inscribe hope into our lives...and even share some real life examples of how this has changed things for us! In this episode we find some vivid imagery in the Book of Revelation - the final book of the Bible - which gives as a promise of what life on earth will one day be like. This may be quite different from any pictures of Heaven you've heard before! Don't forget to Subscribe if you're appreciating these conversations so you can keep joining in with them!
In this episode, we meet a wealthy man who had one essential question for Jesus: 'What must I do to inherit eternal life?' (Matthew 19:23-30) Jesus' answer couldn't have been more unexpected. Not only did he challenge the assumptions of the time that being wealthy meant you were favoured by God, but he revealed that access to Heaven is more about WHO we trust in than WHAT we do. We'd love to hear your reactions and questions off the back of this challenging episode. Join us in our Community Facebook Group!
