FrontStage BackStage with Jason Daye - Healthy Leadership for Life and Ministry
Modern science and God are often framed as opposites, but discoveries in cosmology and physics are raising deeper questions that science alone cannot answer. For decades, many assumed that science and faith were locked in conflict — that the more we understood the universe, the less room there would be for God. But what if the opposite is happening? In this highlight from our conversation (https://youtu.be/IxdXYnamWco?si=qB7yQvXPbQELY0Sn), host Jason Daye sits down with Lee Strobel to explore how modern scientific discovery is not eliminating the need for God, but exposing questions that science itself cannot resolve. As our understanding of the universe expands, so does our awareness of just how precise, ordered, and improbable it all is. From the origin of the universe to the fine-tuning required for life, the deeper we look, the more we encounter realities that resist simple explanation.Together, they explore:Why scientific consensus now affirms that the universe had a beginningHow discoveries in cosmology are reshaping conversations about GodWhat the fine-tuning of physical constants suggests about the nature of realityWhy explanations like the multiverse struggle to fully account for the evidenceHow former skeptics have reconsidered belief in God through scientific inquiryWhat this means for pastors engaging thoughtful, questioning peopleThis episode will serve pastors and ministry leaders who want to engage conversations around faith and science with clarity, humility, and confidence. If you've ever felt the tension between belief and intellect, this conversation will help you navigate that space with greater wisdom and understand how scientific discovery can open new doors for gospel conversations.Looking to dig more deeply into this topic and conversation? Can you keep sinning and still go to heaven? Is it okay to support a friend who just told you she had an abortion? How do you honor a parent who says they're a Christian but doesn't live like one? These are the kinds of questions most people are afraid to ask out loud.In this Fire Away Q&A service, Pastor Brian and Pastor Brandon sit on stage together and answer the questions our congregation texts in live. No script, no preselected questions, no editing. Just real pastoral answers to the things people are actually wrestling with.Pastor Brandon opens with the apologetic question: how do you reach a family member who loves history but is on the fence about the gospel? He points to the historical credibility of the gospel accounts, especially the witness of the women at the resurrection in a culture that did not value women's testimony, 1 Corinthians 15 where Paul says you could still go talk to people who saw the risen Jesus, the work of scholars like Wes Huff and Lee Strobel, and the wild improbability of the disciples inventing a story they would die violent deaths to defend. The conversation gets harder fast with the abortion question. Pastor Brian and Pastor Brandon walk slowly through what it means to love someone who has done something Scripture calls sin without endorsing the sin. Be available. Play the long relational game. Pray that one day God uses you to point them not just to the gravity of what they have done, but to the cross that has already paid for it.On honoring a parent who says they are a Christian but does not live like one, Pastor Brian unpacks the difference between obey and honor, why honor has to transcend even decades of disappointment, why dishonor is just drinking poison and hoping the other person dies, and why the deeper question may not be "how do I confront this person" but "does this person actually need to be born again?"They tackle tattoos (mostly a conscience question for New Testament believers, not the Old Testament Canaanite context many people assume), the best advice for newlyweds (Pastor Brian's encouragement to pray together out loud regularly, and Pastor Brandon's reminder to find a community of other young couples who love Jesus), and they close with one of the most asked questions in modern American Christianity. If I keep sinning, can I lose my salvation?Pastor Brian's answer here is worth the whole service. You did not behave your way into salvation, and you cannot behave your way out of it. But do not play games with God either. The reason you are saved is to be sanctified. If your sin is bothering you, lean into that conviction. A bruised reed Jesus will not break, and a smoldering wick of faith he will not put out (Isaiah 42:3).If you have ever had real questions about heaven, sin, family, marriage, or doubt that nobody around you was answering, this teaching is for you. Skip to the chapter that sounds most like your story, or watch the whole thing.

Patrick explores the challenges Catholics face living their faith today, moving through topics like subsidiarity, classic Church teaching, and perceptions of God’s mercy and justice across the testaments. He addresses practical issues such as Mass attire, sacraments, Catholic identity in complex family settings, and current Church controversies, all while engaging questions sparked by headlines and pop culture. Listeners encounter both historical perspective and real-life application as Patrick offers clarity and encouragement for Catholics in ordinary moments and extraordinary situations alike. Patrick continues his conversation with Michael and Mark from the end of the last hour (03:26) Paulette - Do you have any thoughts on Protestant author Lee Strobel who wrote “The Case for Christ?” (08:23) Candace - I am a Baptist and my husband is Catholic. He supported me going to Baptist Church but doesn't support me anymore because of what my preacher said. Can you help me navigate this? (14:39) Gregory - The Archbishop of DC dismissed an exorcist priest. Was this the right thing to do? (20:40) Tony - Can I walk my daughter down the aisle? She isn't baptized and she is marrying a Protestant. (26:08) Pete - This UFO phenomena is a bunch of ridiculousness. (30:50) Don - I dress in a suit at Sunday Mass and wear shorts at daily mass. Should I dress more formally? (36:28) Alex - You said you don’t like banners in the mass. What kind of banners are you talking about? Some are liturgical and other people carry down the aisle. In this message, former atheist and bestselling author Lee Strobel explores compelling evidence for the supernatural and answers one of life's biggest questions: Is there a reality beyond the physical world? Patrick Bet David confronts Lee Strobel with global data on Christian decline, from Australia to Europe, as Strobel blames soft state churches, social media, Islamic growth, and rising professional costs for believers who publicly stand on biblical truth.
Patrick Bet David asks Lee Strobel how CS Lewis, Josh McDowell, and classic apologetics shaped his journey from atheist journalist to Christian, as Strobel unpacks the liar lunatic Lord argument, media bias, and why he no longer trusts outlets like the New York Times.
Patrick Bet David and Lee Strobel tackle church scandals and fallen pastors, explaining why moral failure does not invalidate Christianity and why real accountability, independent elders, and iron sharpens iron friendships are essential protections for leaders.
Title: Head in the Jar, Hands in the ScarsScripture Reading: John 20:24-29Series: Be Bold! This episode features four videos which can be watched in order here: 1. Peanut in the Peanut Butter2. Suel Forrester the Substitute Teacher3. 4 Proofs of the Resurrection4. Joe Rogan and Michael ShellenbergerWill you make the bold leap from evidence to faith? In this Resurrection Sunday message, we explore how Thomas moved from demanding proof to making a profound declaration of faith. The sermon first highlights Thomas's bold personality as he dared to voice the questions and fears the other disciples were too afraid to mention. We then see the bold proof that Jesus gave to Thomas, proving that faith and evidence are not mutually exclusive. Finally, we are challenged by Thomas's bold profession to move beyond mere investigation and into a committed belief in the Messiah, even while navigating the reality of lingering doubts. Don't wait for the absence of all doubt to make the bold leap from investigating the evidence to professing faith in Jesus Christ.
Lee Strobel, former atheist and investigative journalist, joins Patrick Bet-David to break down the evidence for Jesus' resurrection, his journey from skepticism to faith, the global decline of Christianity, church scandals and their impact on believers, and the growing cultural divide around religion, free speech, and truth.------
If you know someone who questions the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, it may be that they don’t have all the facts. In this fascinating message, former atheist Lee Strobel shares his story of coming to faith after years of study, and then examines extra-biblical evidence that proves three key points: Jesus was truly dead on the cross, the tomb was really empty, and hundreds of people interacted with Jesus after Resurrection Sunday! In this Palm Sunday message, Lee Strobel shares his personal journey from skepticism to faith, exploring whether the resurrection of Jesus can be trusted as a real event in history. Using a thoughtful and investigative approach, he points to compelling evidence that challenges doubt and invites deeper consideration. He explains why the resurrection is central to the Christian faith and what it means for understanding who Jesus truly is. Rather than presenting blind belief, the message encourages a faith that is rooted in both reason and experience. Ultimately, it invites each person to wrestle with the evidence and consider what it means for their own life.
We hear stories all the time about the supernatural--miraculous healings, unexplained sightings, near-death experiences--but how do we know what is real? This episode is a powerful, honest conversation, Justin and Trisha sit down with worship leader, songwriter, and author Stephen McWhirter to talk about the messy, non-linear road of redemption. Stephen shares what it was like growing up as the son of a traveling evangelist while witnessing abuse behind closed doors, how that pain shaped his view of God, and the destructive path that followed—leading to years of addiction. Then comes the turning point: an unexpected encounter with Jesus in the middle of darkness, sparked by reading The Case for Christ—with drugs still on the nightstand. What happened next is a story of grace, transformation, and a life that's been marked by worship, healing, and restoration. Stephen also opens up about the long road of forgiving his dad, the difference between forgiveness and reconciliation, and why forgiveness is about releasing a debt that could keep us imprisoned. Finally, Justin and Stephen talk about worship as a “conduit of care,” the story behind the viral prayer-song “Come Jesus Come”, and Stephen's new book Radically Restored—with a full-circle moment you won't want to miss. In this week's conversation between Dr. James Emery White and co-host Alexis Drye, they discuss a topic that is drifting away from its biblical moorings and increasingly misunderstood in culture: exorcism. Even individuals who would not consider themselves Christians are familiar with the Lord's Prayer, which includes the line, “deliver us from evil.” But what does that mean, and why the sudden cultural interest in exorcism? Episode Links Dr. White mentioned a book that he wrote called The Prayer God Longs For. It walks through the Lord's Prayer, including a chapter that focuses on the deliverance from evil or the "evil one" (Satan). You can find it as an ebook on Church & Culture HERE. He also mentioned the work of C.S. Lewis called The Screwtape Letters - a fascinating book about the nature of temptation and demonic work in our lives. You can find that book at The Grounds Bookstore and Café HERE. Another resource that Dr. White mentioned, which you can also find in The Grounds, is Lee Strobel's Seeing the Supernatural. You can find that book HERE. The discussion continued with a look at who Satan is, and an overview of the world of the occult. There are so many ways that the occult invades culture today, and most people are not even aware of it. There was a series that Dr. White delivered at Mecklenburg Community Church a number of years ago on the subject called “Paranormal.” The installments of this series include the map of the spiritual world, the marks of the occult, and the armor of God. There are also some past podcast episodes that you may want to go back and listen to related to today's conversation including: CCP151: On Spirits and Ghosts, CCP77: On Angels, CCP66: On Satanism, and CCP58: On Your Horoscope and Starbucks. Finally, there are two articles that were mentioned in today's episode that you may be interested in reading. The first is written by Kaya Burgess in The Telegraph titled “Demand for exorcisms rises as faithful want ‘deliverance from evil.'” The second article was just released this week in the London Times, written by Tom Kington, and titled “Devil worshippers are using AI, exorcists are warned” discussing fears that pedophiles are using AI to create images of children participating in satanic rites. For those of you who are new to Church & Culture, we'd love to invite you to subscribe (for free of course) to the twice-weekly Church & Culture blog and check out the Daily Headline News - a collection of headlines from around the globe each weekday. We'd also love to hear from you if there is a topic that you'd like to see discussed on the Church & Culture Podcast in an upcoming episode. Lee Strobel is an American Christian author, apologist, speaker, and former investigative journalist who transitioned from an atheist investigative journalist into a leading Christian apologist and author, blending rigorous investigative methods with his faith journey to influence millions worldwide. Born in Arlington Heights, Illinois, Strobel earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri and a Master of Studies in Law degree from Yale Law School; growing up in a nominally Christian but non-practicing household, he became a committed atheist who viewed Christianity as irrational until 1979, when his wife Leslie's conversion prompted a nearly two-year personal investigation into the historical evidence for Jesus. On November 8, 1981, at age 29, Strobel became a Christian, an experience he describes as “falling in love with Jesus” while interviewing scholars and examining ancient manuscripts. A 14-year veteran of The Chicago Tribune where he served as award-winning legal editor, Strobel earned Illinois' highest honors for investigative reporting and public service journalism from United Press International before pivoting full-time to Christian apologetics. He is a New York Times bestselling author of over 40 books and curricula—including the seminal The Case for Christ (1998), which has sold over 5 million copies—with total sales exceeding 18 million copies translated into 40 languages. His “Case for…” series, along with titles like The Case for Faith, The Case for Miracles, and The Case for Heaven, applies courtroom-style evidence to core doctrines. Strobel, currently serves as Founding Director of the Lee Strobel Center for Evangelism and Applied Apologetics at Colorado Christian University. He is described by The Washington Post as “one of the evangelical community's most popular apologists,” he has received multiple Gold Medallion Awards and the 2023 Pillar Award for History from the Museum of the Bible. Married to Leslie since 1973, Strobel is father to daughter Alison (novelist and homeschooling expert) and son Kyle (professor of spiritual theology at Biola University's Talbot School of Theology), and he continues to equip believers worldwide with intellectual tools to defend and share their faith effectively.
