The beatitudes tell us to hunger and thirst for righteousness. But what is righteousness? What does it look like to hunger and thirst after it? What is the promise of pursing righteousness? This morning we will unpack this verse so that we can know exactly what Matthew was saying and what Jesus is asking of His followers.

In a culture that keeps scores and prefers things even, Jesus radically flips this social norm on its head when He says, God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy. In one sentence, Jesus proposed a completely new way of interacting with the people around us.

Everyone loves an underdog story! We love to see the little guy face the bigger, stronger, more powerful rival and overcome! No one aspires to be an underdog, we dream of being strong, confident and charismatic - and when we find ourselves on the bottom, we dream overcoming to be on top! Meekness is weakness and nobody wants to be weak! But the scriptures say God blesses the meek. How can meekness be a blessing?! Well see as we continue digging deeper into one of Jesus most famous teachings on the Beatitudes!

Every day were faced with the decision of who to trust and how much to trust them. Often times, its a subconscious process, but when youve believed in the reliability of someone or something and youve given them your trust and had that trust broken, it can create issues with your ability to trust again! We all have areas of our lives where our thoughts and actions require adjustment. Today let us be challenged and strengthened by Paul's encouragement to emulate Christ in all we do.

When you have a car you have all the pieces of it. The doors, the engine, the tires, the steering wheel, the seats, etc; you have everything that is needed for the car to work. But without the keys, you cannot use the car effectively, it needs the keys to function properly. The same goes for the Armour of God, we can have all the pieces of it, but we need one more thing in order to effectively use the armour. And Paul teaches us that prayer is the keys. So what should we be doing with prayer to use the armour of God to its fullest potential?

The war has already been won, were standing in a place of victory, but our defeated foe still tries to wreak as much havoc as possible. Usually, people fight because they feel they have a point they want to prove, a position of power theyre trying to preserve or a passion for someone or something they want to protect. Most often in our day to day lives, its because they feel provoked. Scripture repeatedly tells us as believers that we walk in the blessing of the Lord, but those blessings come with battles. Gods favour comes with fights! Today were kicking off our new summer sermon series were calling The Good Fight.

Lord, I need patience, and I need it now! As a culture accustomed to instant gratification, we dont do so well with waiting. Were used to things moving at the "speed of light." When it comes to the Kingdom of God, things seem to move at a much different pace - the speed of a seed planted in the ground. A seed that involves process, discipline and applied principles - all of which require patient endurance, which is what we need now as well see in todays message.

Star Wars episode 4 is by far the best Star Wars movie. You can disagree all you want, but there is something about the introduction of all the characters and the building of hope in the next generation of the Jedi coming. We all hope for things at different points of our lives, but there is a hope that we have as followers of Jesus that is greater than all other things we could hope for.
