In Part 2 of our conversation with USAF Tech Sgt. Anthony Dyer (Ret), we revisit the 2018 combat rescue mission in East Africa that began in chaos - runaway weapons, jettisoned flares, and broken comms - and ended with a high-risk landing under fire to evacuate wounded teammates. Anthony reflects on the loss of an American operator that day, what the motto “These things we do, that others may live” means in the moments that matter, and how those events shaped him long after the mission was over. He also opens up about the difficult transition out of the military, identity loss, drinking, confronting trauma, and how therapy, medication, and writing his memoir Moonchild helped him rebuild purpose as a husband, father, and storyteller. A raw and deeply human look at service, sacrifice, and healing.American Veteran's Crisis Line (24/7 confidential crisis support):Dial 988 then press 1 ORText 838255To contact Anthony for speaking engagements etc, you can reach him at anthonyp.dyer@gmail.comTo buy his book you can visit Barnes and Noble or Amazon at the following links (or simply Google "Moon Child Anthony Dyer for many options):https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/moon-child-anthony-dyer/1147103074https://www.amazon.ca/Moon-Child-Special-Missions-Aviator/dp/B0DZMXBHJ4

Most people don't set out to be rescuers. They just see someone hurting and can't walk away. That's what Jesus did. He noticed the forgotten, stepped in close, and brought hope where there wasn't any. This message is a reminder that His mission is now ours. To pray first. To move when He says move. To give and to go — because life is short, eternity is real, and someone needs what you carry.
When God provided a ram as substitute for Isaac, Abraham named the place The Lord will be seen, pointing to Jerusalem where God would ultimately be revealed through His son. The post Rescue Mission appeared first on Emmaus Road Fellowship.

Homelessness in Utah has increased by 18% in the past year with nearly 1,000 people each night living on the streets. The privately funded Rescue Mission of Salt Lake and their northern Utah facility Ogden Rescue Mission are sheltering and feeding those who come through their doors. But just as important, their programs address the root causes of homelessness to transform lives. In this episode, FM100.3 Host Rebecca Cressman is joined by Executive Director Chris Croswhite who shares how the compassionate faith-based organization helps people "work their way out of homelessness." Because the Rescue Mission is wholly supported by tax-deductible donations and contributions from the community, that support is needed now more than ever at RescueSaltLake.org.
Join Kosta and his guest: Will Roberts, Executive Director of Cookeville Rescue Mission. In this episode: Most people know the Cookeville Rescue Mission in theory. They drive by the building or they see a billboard - they know it exists, but they might not know more than that. What do you wish our community knew about the work you do and the individuals who walk through your doors every day? You have a motto at CRM I love: we'll help you do anything, but we won't help you do nothing. What does this motto mean to you? You know both sides of this story, you've lived through both the struggle of addiction and the redemption of recovery. Today's episode is the latest installment in my series entitled “Rescue Mission,” which reintroduces great singers who have already been featured on the podcast. This is the Belated Birthday edition of that series, which reintroduces us to a wide range of Countermelody favorites, including jazz singer Ethel Ennis; baritones Robert Massard, Gérard Souzay, and Andrzej Hiolski; sopranos Sylvia Sass (pictured), Veronica Tyler, April Cantelo, Elly Ameling, Gloria Davy, Margaret Marshall, Rosanna Carteri, Sarah Reese, Ilse Wolf, and Carol Neblett; mezzo-sopranos Jennie Tourel, Maureen Lehane, and Shannon Bolin; and tenors David Rendall and Stuart Burrows. The repertoire is as varied and rare as are the artists featured, including songs by Rimsky-Korsakov, Chopin, Malcolm Williamson, and Alec Wilder; opera arias by Schreker, Mozart, Mascagni, and Verdi; and selections by Bach and Schütz. I love doing this kind of episode, because it allows me to cast my net wide and share with you the kinds of singers and repertoire that are bringing me comfort and joy in these trying times. Countermelody is a podcast devoted to the glory and the power of the human voice raised in song. Singer and vocal aficionado Daniel Gundlach explores great singers of the past and present focusing in particular on those who are less well-remembered today than they should be. Daniel's lifetime in music as a professional countertenor, pianist, vocal coach, voice teacher, and author yields an exciting array of anecdotes, impressions, and “inside stories.” At Countermelody's core is the celebration of great singers of all stripes, their instruments, and the connection they make to the words they sing. The tragic martyrdom of Charlie Kirk is yet another example of the horrific fallout of institutions that have falsely claimed to be ramparts of critical thinking and free speech. Instead, the sociocultural conditioning of soul-less, values-free, truth-deficit education has spawned a generation of hedonism and lawlessness. Join Dr. Lisa Dunne on this week's episode as she shares her experience as a speaker at Turning Point and as a college professor for 25 years. If we want a better America, we must start by facing the brokenness of this one. Universities must recognize and repent for the role they've played in silencing free speech, in undermining critical thought, and in severing parental support in the scholastic process. Education is broken. We can fix it. May we continue to carry on the Charlie's courageous legacy of confronting and exposing the darkness in high places in public university campuses--of defeating the darkness with dialogue. Charlie's mission existed because a generation before him allowed the Great Commission to be outlawed on our watch. It's time to take it back. The Faith Explained with Cale Clarke - Learning the Catholic Faith
Why did Abram and Lot part ways? Who is the mysterious figure named Melchizedek? Cale looks at Genesis 13 and 14.
Acts 2:14-41 shows Peter boldly proclaiming Christ to those who crucified Him, demonstrating there's no neutral ground—only God's grace or judgment. His sermon reveals that true transformation comes not through politics or returning evil for evil, but through surrendered hearts recognizing Jesus as both Lord and Savior. When 3,000 souls asked "What shall we do?", the answer was repent and receive the Spirit, proving that even our darkest days become emblems of celebration through the gospel's power.
You know how sometimes life gives you lemons and then instead of sugar for lemonade, the church hands you a moldy marriage book and says, “Submit harder”? That was my reality. In this episode, I take you back to a hotel room where I was nine months pregnant and seriously questioning if I wanted to keep living. Instead, I stumbled my way out of despair and into freedom thanks to a stack of books, a laptop, and eventually, the real God (not the mean knock-off version I had been worshiping). What You'll Learn in This Episode:The two hotel rooms that changed everything: one where I nearly gave up, and one where I finally woke up.How books became my lifelines (thank you, Google rabbit holes). The moment I realized the “god” I was serving looked suspiciously like my abusive husband. Why leaving my marriage also meant leaving behind a toxic image of God.What it really means to be a butterfly (It's not about fluttering around in a meadow. I have spent the past week planning forthcoming episodes and last night I realized I had to “throw together” something for this weekend's episode. When this happens, it can often result in a very eclectic program, indeed, and one which many of my listeners find to be among the most enjoyable Countermelody episodes. I have collected more than enough material for at least a dozen of my so-called “Rescue Mission” episodes, in which I feature artists to whom an entire episode has already been devoted, but for whom I have unearthed additional recordings. For today's episode, I decided to focus exclusively on duets, featuring at least one singer of each pair who has already been heard (sometimes quite recently) on the podcast. And thus we have David Rendall singing Erik in The Flying Dutchman opposite Rita Cullis; Renata Scotto (with Carlo Bergonzi) in Elisir; April Cantelo in Paul Hindemith's Cardillac; Maureen Lehane as Penelope in Il ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria; Carol Neblett as Donna Elvira; and Helen Donath (with Deborah Voigt in Strauss's rare Die ägyptische Helena). Also heard are operas by Gottfried von Einem, Giuseppe Verdi, Lee Hoiby, and Carl Orff featuring Christa Ludwig, John Reardon, Grace Bumbry, Edda Moser, and upcoming Countermelody featured artists John Bröcheler, Roland Hermann, and Eberhard Wächter. The episode concludes with the unlikely pair of Ileana Cotrubaş (pictured) and Jorma Hynninen (two of my most revered singers) as the title characters in a transcendent live recording of Pelléas et Mélisande. Countermelody is a podcast devoted to the glory and the power of the human voice raised in song. Singer and vocal aficionado Daniel Gundlach explores great singers of the past and present focusing in particular on those who are less well-remembered today than they should be. Join me on this week's show for an interview with Pastor Josiah Elias, the lead pastor of Faith Chapel in Spring Valley, California. Pastor Josiah and his wife Ashley are devoted to discipleship. They want to see believers develop into wholehearted followers of Jesus, and they understand that discipleship begins in the home, in the early years of our children's walk with the Lord. They recognize the weighty mandate that the local church carries to equip and encourage parents in discipling their kids, and that as believers, we can't just look the other way when an entire generation is steeped in anxiety, depression, and atheism. That's why Faith Chapel is going all in on education. Learn more about the mission and the inspiration on today's show. Apollo 13 was slated to be NASA's third manned spaceflight to land on the moon. Apollo 11 won us the space race and Apollo 12 proved it wasn't just a fluke that we put a man on the lunar surface. Apollo 13 was going to up the ante by putting men on a different part of the moon to explore. Now all of these missions took place within a period of 12 months so by Apollo 13 the public had lost interest. NASA had made it too easy to reach the moon according to the public. Well two days later the nation and world were glued to their TV's after an explosion in space crippled Apollo 13's command ship Odyssey leaving the astronauts short on oxygen and with power systems failing 200,000+ miles from Earth. Normally an explosion in space is a death sentence and it would've been for James Lovell, John Swigert, and Fred Haise, but the geniuses of NASA mission and flight control had other plans. Through some of the craziest feats of sciences, mathematics, physics, and engineering the rescued these three men from the jaws of cold death. Find out how they did it on this week's episode. On this episode of Uncommon Sense with Ginny Robinson, we are joined with Juliette Bryant, a courageous survivor of Jeffrey Epstein's vile sex trafficking operation. Lured by the promise of a modeling career, Juliette was instead ensnared in a web of calculated evil. She was abused, exploited, and flown to Epstein's private island where countless others suffered the same fate. This is more than a scandal. It is a moral reckoning. And yet, the full, unredacted Epstein list, containing the names of powerful men who enabled or participated in this wickedness, remains sealed. Why is that?Donald Trump promised the American people he would release it. Now, he mocks those demanding it, calling us “bad people” and “weaklings.” Well, it's actually bad and weak to fail to release the Epstein list, Mr. President. But we will not be intimidated. The righteous are commanded to expose darkness, not negotiate with it. Trump's evasiveness increasingly resembles guilt. It's certainly not strong leadership. We will not be silenced. Not by politicians, not by media, and not by fear. Even after I publish a Countermelody episode on a favorite singer, I continue to collect material on them, which I then occasionally fold into a potpourri episode of vocal and musical delights. I have dubbed such episodes part of my “Rescue Mission” series and I'm tempted to call today's episode I'm tempted to call “Friend Edition” (even though there are several good friends I've made in recent years who are not represented today). Be that as it may, I do love putting out such episodes, especially as it gives new listeners some idea of the range and depth of the podcast, and the joys of dipping into Countermelody's back catalogue. For today's episode I spread the net particularly wide, and in some cases went way back into my archives so present you with some rarities which I have programmed in such a way to take us from the despair and confusion that many of us are feeling right now into a place of both resolution and resolve to keep holding on and fighting for what is right. Today's setlist includes many Countermelody favorites: tenors George Shirley, Peter Pears, and Jerry Hadley; baritones William Parker and Jorma Hynninen, mezzo-soprano Maureen Lehane; and sopranos Eleanor Steber, Carol Neblett, Sarah Reese, Anne Wiggins Brown, Veronica Tyler, Annabelle Bernard, Denise Duval, Lois Marshall, Gloria Davy, and April Cantelo; with appearances by other great singers who have not yet been featured in full episodes, including Franco Corelli, Sandra Warfield, Helen Watts, Émile Belcourt, Valerie Masterson, and, in memoriam, Béatrice Uria-Monzon. We hear music from César Franck, Ottorino Respighi, Johann Sebastian Bach, Giacomo Puccini, Pyotr Il'yich Tchaikovsky, Franz Schubert, George Gershwin, Gioachino Rossini, Leonard Bernstein, Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, Emmanuel Bondeville, and Giacomo Meyerbeer. As always, queer artists and artists of color are prominently featured, as one of my objectives in producing this podcast is to foreground such historical artists as essential to our growth and self-awareness. If you're just getting to know the podcast, this is as good a place to start as anywhere! Countermelody is a podcast devoted to the glory and the power of the human voice raised in song. Singer and vocal aficionado Daniel Gundlach explores great singers of the past and present focusing in particular on those who are less well-remembered today than they should be. Intro:This morning, we're diving into Proverbs to explore God's heart for the poor. This builds on last week's sermon on justice. We'll hear from community members dedicated to this work. Who are the poor? It's complex, encompassing food insecurity, homelessness, and material lack, as Michael Simmon from the Rescue Mission shared. While our nation has safety nets, biblical understanding goes deeper.Scripture References: Proverbs 5:1-14, Proverbs 29:7, Proverbs 31:20, Proverbs 22:9, Proverbs 28:27, Proverbs 17:5, Proverbs 19:17, Matthew 25, Luke 4, 1 John 3:17-18, Galatians 2:9-10, Acts 3:1-9Key Points:Poverty's Complex Causes: Proverbs acknowledges poverty results from both bad choices and injustice. Avoid instant judgment; it's a mix of personal decisions, family, and systemic issues. The Righteous Care for the Poor:"The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern" (Proverbs 29:7).The Proverbs 31 wife, epitomizing wisdom, "opens her arms to the poor" (Proverbs 31:20). Caring for the poor should be central to followers of Jesus.Rewards for Caring for the Poor:"The generous will themselves be blessed" (Proverbs 22:9)."Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses" (Proverbs 28:27). There's eternal reward and divine warning.God Identifies with the Poor:"Whoever mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker" (Proverbs 17:5)."Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord" (Proverbs 19:17).Matthew 25 highlights: "Whatever you did for one of the least of these... you did for me." God takes our actions personally.A Holistic Gospel:Our gospel must be good news to the poor. Jesus' mission began with proclaiming good news to the poor (Luke 4:18).Avoid two errors:Serving the poor while neglecting Jesus/discipleship: Without Jesus, healing from deep pain is incomplete (Heidi Heredia).Preaching the gospel but neglecting the poor: "How can the love of God be in that person?" (1 John 3:17). Our gospel needs "feet"—actions. The early church was known for this care.Helping Without Hurting:Avoid increasing shame/savior complex: Don't disempower. Use asset-based community development (Steve Corbett) – resource their gifts to restore dignity (e.g., Creekside Community Church selling gifts).Avoid "parachuting": Partner with indigenous ministries. Building relationships and local ownership are key (Dave Schlich). Jesus is already at work; we join Him.Avoid giving relief to those who need development: Understand relief (immediate aid), rehabilitation (getting out of the pit), development (learning to walk again). Our goal is full restoration.Panhandling: Michael Simmon advises against cash. Offer connection, food/hygiene items. "Being seen" is vital. The goal: restore full humanness, glorifying God in right relationship with Him, self, others, and creation. Conclusion:Many are helping without hurting (Rescue Mission, Gleanings, Dream Center). We're called to embody this holistic gospel.Call to Action:Remember Acts 3:1-9: Peter and John gave the lame man healing in Jesus' name, not just money. We empower people to "walk, jump, and praise God." Ask God for your part and pray for those leading this work. Support the show*Summaries and transcripts are generated using AI. In today's episode, we spotlighted the incredible heroism of Coast Guard rescue swimmer Scott Ruskin, who helped evacuate nearly 200 people—including scores of kids—from rising floodwaters at Camp Mystic, Texas. Ruskin's first major rescue mission showcased not just elite training, but deep personal courage and leadership in chaos. We also unpacked the strange timing and unanswered questions surrounding new Epstein video footage with a missing minute, raised red flags about growing domestic insurrectionist behavior in L.A. led by Mayor Karen Bass, and dove into the critical importance of discernment in a world flooded with misinformation and weaponized narratives. The thread through it all? Truth matters more than ever—and the fight for it is heating up.Get the stories from today's show in THE STACK: https://justinbarclay.comKirk Elliott PHD - FREE consultation on wealth conservation - http://GoldWithJustin.comJoin Justin in the MAHA revolution - http://HealthWithJustin.comTry Cue Streaming for just $2 / day and help support the good guys https://justinbarclay.com/cueUp to 80% OFF!
