Have you ever felt like a broken record in your faith? Sure we all have. We are all broken in some way or another and Christians look to God for answers. Come join some Christian Men sit around a round table and say how they are broken but with God's grace... they are redeemed.
In this episode the Round Tablers talk about what they go through and what they do when they feel like God hasn't provided in the time they want Him to. Vintage Bob also has a challenge for the table as well as the listeners. We had a full table this episode so we hope this brings you peace and comfort as much as it did us recording it. Mark 6:41 is the Bible verse
In this episode the Round Tablers discuss what does it mean when scripture says Iron Sharpens Iron. They also discuss what that looks like in their own personal life and the effects that it has made on them. What does the table suggest to the listener
Flipping it to the B Side is a sermon on John 4:1-42. The Woman at the Well. Ronnie thinks it's the ultimate repentance account in the Bible. She comes to the well during the hottest part of the day wanting to see NOONE and she has an encounter with Jesus and she leaves to tell EVERYONE. She was always going and thinking one way, one way, one way and then one moment with Jesus and he flipped her to the B Side. We all have our well. What's yours? Will you allow Jesus to flip you to the B Side?
In this episode the Round Tablers discuss how the handle when God feels so far away. Is it an emotional response? A season? Is it a roller coaster ride? Have they moved or has God? Stop in and hear the discussion and more, Psalm 13 is the Bible verse for the episode.
In this episode the Round Tablers have an open topic for the episode. Whatever they have been thinking about for the week is on the table. Some ask some questions or things they have been thinking about while others respond with their thoughts on the subject. We hope this episode finds you well. We pray that He let's you listen with open ears and an open heart and something someone says is what you need to hear when you need to hear it.
In this episode, the Round Tablers discuss the difference of Faith and Knowledge. How do they differ? How are they the same? What good is it if you have one without the other? Each person goes on to share their expereiences in the topic as the others chime in to share their thoughts and helpful tid bits as well. Thank you for listening ! Our Bible Verse this episode is Mathew 7:15-17
In this episode the Round Tablers talk about some things that they've done for Christ that wasn't always "popular". Have you ever struggled with the criticism of doing the unpopular thing? How did they feel and deal with that? How would you the listener feel and deal with that? Our Bible verse for the episode is Proverbs 28:12 We hope this episode blesses you in only the way He knows you need it.
In this episode the Round Table gathers to talk about who wins? When you're the only one that can be right, is it wrong? Does your competition side get the better of you in your personal life and hurt you following Christ? Listen in as this was a very fun one to record. We hope that this blesses you in the way only He knows it can.
In this episode the round table discusses if they think they are floundering or if they are flourishing. Listen in as they discuss and talk openly and honestly about how they're doing. This one was a very tough topic for some. We hope you enjoy the episode and it brings you comfort the way He meant it to.
In this episode the Round Table discusses if they struggle for approval or not. Or if they did before following Christ and what it looked like compared to now. If they don't struggle with it what's the reason why they didn't or don't. As always, thanks for listening and we hope this episode blesses you in a way you need.
In this episode the round table is full again. They discuss what commonly distracts them from God. How do they handle that? What is the common thing that pulls them back to center once they are distracted. So what distracts you?
In this episode... well it's a different one. Ronnie is solo as the weather has been frightful and extreme. Ronnie talks about planting seeds and the frustration that might come with not being able to see the fruition. Don't worry, this is most likely a one off and the round table will be back.
In this conversation recorded several weeks ago, we talk about what it means to walk closely with our Redeemer (rejecting what He calls sin in the process), aligning our words with our actions, and how we too often give lip service to what we claim to believe. To remind us of our ultimate hope amidst those struggles, Carl shares a story from his grandfather during the recent passing of his grandmother to remind us of the goal of our faith and where we are heading. Carl connects that with a passage from Matthew 18, and what it means to become like “little children”, in order to explain the concept of ongoing sanctification. Bible Study: Matthew 18:1-4; Joel 2:28 Thanks for listening. We pray that it's a blessing to you! In this episode the Round Tablers discuss their own spiritual journey through out the past year. While most social media or other podcasts are counting their top lists. Each person takes a brief walk of their journey and what they've learned or been taught in some cases throughout the year. Deep and personal stories of the past year and plans for the year to come. This is one you probably shouldn't miss.
This week, we talk about the hope offered to us through the Person of Jesus, and where that hope should be leading us. Does Jesus care about what we do with that gift? In answering that question, we look at a prophetic account from the Book of Zechariah involving Joshua the High Priest, and we connect that to Jesus' own Parable of the Wedding Feast. Are we removing the filthy garments, are we putting on the clean robes, and what does that mean? Thanks for listening! I pray that it blesses you! [In this sermon: Jeremiah 18:1-12; Zechariah 2:10-13; 3:1-8; Matthew 22:1-14]
This weeks episode brings together the ladies of the Round Table. We discuss the struggles of supporting discipleship in ministry as well as the blessings. The impact of leadership in the home. How Biblical examples have affirmed the direction of some of these ladies ministries and way more! You won't want to miss this episode!
In this message, we look at one of my favorite figures in Scripture: Caleb. What does he teach us about the "ancient path" our Father commands us to walk? And how does that contrast with an individual on the opposite end of the spectrum: the bad Micah? Is the church on that ancient path, or are we walking out of alignment? Thanks for listening! I pray that it blesses you! [In this sermon: 2 Samuel 16, Acts 17, Numbers 14, Judges 17, and Jeremiah 6]
In this episode of the Round Table, the table talks about what sin are they living in. Which ones do they put down and which ones do they keep trying to pick back up? Which sin are you living in?
In this episode of the Round Table. Mike takes over the reigns and chooses the topic : Judas Was Chosen. What's that look like, what's that mean? What do the people a round the table think about when they think about Jesus and Judas? What do you think about when you hear the story of the betrayal?
In this episode the Round Tablers talk about STRESS. How do they deal with it in their lives but also, how should they deal with it? Like the episode about anxiety, is stress mostly seen in a negative light? What types of stress are there? How do you deal with the stress in your life?
Sermon Series (11/26/23): "Jehoshaphat's Folly" In Song of Solomon, a poetic metaphor of our relationship with Jesus, we are told that, "[we are our] beloved's, and His desire is for us." That's a powerful statement. In other words, He is inviting us into a deep and personal relationship with Him based upon mutual love. Jesus affirms this in Matthew chapter 22 when He tells us that the greatest of all the commandments is that we love our God first and most. What does it look like when we get that right? And what happens when we begin loving anything or anyone more than God, and get that wrong? We look to an account on the life of King Jehoshaphat to answer those questions (2 Chronicles 17-19), and then we're asked a deeper and more penetrating question: Is He good enough for us? Thanks for listening! I hope that it's a blessing to you!
In this episode of the Round Table, it is discussed what happens when anxiety strikes. The dread of the topic when it was sent that thats what they would be talking about and Ronnie flipping the script on how to think about it. How do we see anxiety? How does the world see anxiety?
In this bonus episode of the Round Table, Ronnie is joined by his childhood bestfriend Zane. They take a trip down memory lane and laugh and joke about the old days. They then dive into the contrast of how their lives were so similar but yet so different going through their teen years. One knew his calling to minister while one did not. How did they navigate those waters and what they've learned through the journey so far.
In this episode the Roundtablers talk about being thankful. What it's like to be thankful. How easy being thankful can just be put by the waste side.
In this episode the Round Tablers talk about even when we don't see it. He's working. What's that look like in our lives? Has there been things that have only been God things even when we didn't think He was working? Maybe we thought He went out to lunch? Stepped out for a coffee break? Then something or someone stops by, texts or calls... and then you realize. Even when we don't see it. He's working. Thanks for listening and we hope this helps you out in some way. Some of the guys had a really tough time recording this one. Are you having a tough time as well? Reach out and let us hear from you.
Sermon Series (11/5/23): "Cleaning Up Our Mess" Many of us are better at making messes than we are at cleaning them up. I know I am. And that's true of our spiritual lives, as well. We make such a mess of things, through sin and disobedience. How is it that God, in the Name of Jesus, instructs us to clean those messes up? We look to Scripture to answer that question for us, from the account of Zaccheus in Luke chapter 19 to a deeply challenging warning from Jeremiah chapter 11 and Jesus own words in Matthew chapter 5. Will we hear what we are told? And will we do more than just hear, and apply what He is telling us? Thanks for listening. I hope it's a blessing to you!
In this episode the round tablers discuss what it's like to be given grace as well as then showing grace. Sometimes... just sometimes, it's not as easy as saying it. They also discuss the difference between grace and mercy and how often sometimes we mix the two things. We hope this episode brings you things He wants you to hear. We hope that this episode and the conversation around the table brings a light into the season you might be going through.
This week, the round table discusses what it means to "work for God", or how it is that God "works" on us. Are we working for God His way, or are we trying to work for Him our way, and why does it matter? Thanks for listening! We pray that this blesses you! In this episode the round tablers talk about doubt. What's the opposite of doubt? Trust. So are you doubting or are you trusting? Are you doing those things in the wrong things? How has that effected your walk with God?
In this week's episode the round tabler's talk about whatever they want. It's open topic so some discuss the Bible verse that is picked out and some talk about what's on their hearts. It's starts off light and fluffy but gets deep and intense as life does. So please join us in this discussion. As always thank you for listening and we pray that this blesses you in the way He intends.
In this episode of the Round Table, the round tablers don't find out what the topic is until the record button is hit: What's the enemy attacking you with? We give some raw and truthful responses to this question, and what we do sometimes to keep going. We hope this episode helps and blesses those who listen, and while you listen, ask yourself: What is the enemy attacking you with? This week we continue discussing Carl's most recent mission trip to Philadelphia. Do you believe in miracles? Do you believe God still raises from the dead? Do you believe in deliverance from demonic oppression? If not, then the experiences shared in this episode will challenge you greatly (in the best possible way). In the 23rd Psalm, David mentions the promise of the cup that overflows. Scripture talks extensively, in fact, about what it is that we are, and should be, putting into our cup (or our heart). That's what our overflowing round table gets together to discuss this week: What are we putting into our cup, and what's flowing out of it? Is it good? Is it bad? And if it's bad, how do we fix it? Thanks for listening! We pray that this is a blessing to you. In this week's episode of our limited Philly Faith series, we go off the script again (due to the absence of Big Mike) to walk through the entirety of Psalm 23. It leads to a great study, and some great conversations. Are you following after the Good Shepherd (Jesus), and are you learning the lessons He has for you along the way? In this episode the round tablers are asked two questions. When did Jesus find them? How did it feel when they actually listened? This week, we had plans to continue our discussion from part one regarding Carl's most recent mission trip to Philadelphia, but Abba's plans are always better. As we open our discussion by reading Psalm 23:4, Will was inspired to share his testimony about the dark valley he had to walk through, and where it led him. You won't want to miss this one. This week, in place of the B-Side, we sit down for part one in a short series of episodes that we're calling That Philly Faith (as a throwback to Carl's old podcast previous to joining Broken Record Ministries). We lead off with a deep dive discussion on a passage from Peter's first letter, covering multiple points, such as what it means to be “like-minded”, the importance of using our words righteously, giving Jesus first place in our lives, and how it is we should be sharing the Gospel. Finally, we talk about Peter's encouragement to be ready at all times to give a right response to anyone that may ask us about our faith. With that theme in mind, Carl shares about what he experienced on day one of his most recent mission trip to Kensington, Philadelphia. Bible Study: 1 Peter 3:8-15 Thanks for listening. In this episode the round tablers discuss what it's like to praise and follow God At All Times. A question is asked and they take turns answering what it means for them. Personal stories are shared and how tough it is sometimes to Praise Him... At All Times.
In this episode the round table discusses how their approach has changed when talking to people about God and Jesus. They even dive into how they've some help a long the way and how that help has opened their minds and hearts to different approaches. Still sharing the hard Truth but being a little more kinder and gentler along the way.
In this previously unreleased episode, the guys begin by talking about how we so often over complicate the Gospel, or veer too far in the opposite direction and water it down. Why do we do this, and why does it matter? That leads to a discussion about meeting people where they are, even in the darkest of “valleys” (like the Kensington area of Philadelphia), with the Truth that they're ready for. That brings up the topic of traveling to bring the Gospel to those far from home. Why would He call us to do that, as opposed to just staying where we are? Ron leads Carl to an epiphany in response to that question. Finally, after our song break, Carl shares an uncomfortable lesson he learned during the previous Sabbath, which leads to our Bible study this week: The account of Moses' experience with Abba on Mount Nebo at his death. We discover a couple fascinating tidbits in that passage, but we especially learn a deeply touching lesson on the tender love of the Father toward those He calls His children, even when they've stumbled. On the round table this week, the guys talk about the important topic of forgiveness. We've discussed this before, but this time the conversation focuses primarily upon the importance of forgiving ourselves, and how it impacts our ability to love and forgive others. We also discuss why it is that the Father wants us to forgive ourselves as He has forgiven us, and ways in which He will reach out to help us do so (including a story Carl brought back from Philadelphia on the topic). In this episode the round tablers go back "home". Old school and retro with older mics and all. What do they do on this rare occasion? Well Ronnie thought it would be a good time to just fellowship and play a game of Would You Rather Bible Edition and see where the discussion leads them. Listen in and play along as they answer some hand picked questions and end with one for the whole table.
his week on the B-Side of the record, we take a few minutes to pray over Carl as he departs to minister for 3 days in inner city Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood. It's a short episode, but a very sweet and needful one. We hope you will join us in praying for a powerful move of the Spirit, for the glory of God to be revealed in a powerful way, and for captives to be set free by Jesus our Redeemer. May He receive all the credit, glory, and fame! Thanks for listening. We pray that it's a blessing to you! In this episode the round tablers talk about showing and being the light in the darkness. Getting down in the ditches with the ones that need to hear the word. For those going into the pit, the need to get or be trained up or they would be spit back out real quick. One of the guys is going to Philadelphia to minister to the people on the streets there. Please pray for him and the other going on the trip. Being His light, even in the valley.
In this episode the Round Table tackles the last "P" in this series. Perception. They've talked about Pride at the soccer fields and Patience on a freeway we call life. What happens when we've burned the ships with perception of others and of ourselves? Perception is a powerful thing. How many ships has it burned in your walk?
It's Mike and Mike on the B-Side this week, as they get together one-on-one to have an honest and raw talk about a monster that plagues us all far too often – jealousy. What causes it to flare up within us, especially in our marriages, and how do we deal with it when it does? Are we chasing things and status to “keep up with the Joneses”, or are we chasing what truly matters? Thanks for listening. We pray that it's a blessing to you! In this episode the round table discuss Patience. In this fast, fast world we go and go and go some more. Until we have to wait on a train. How do we react to that? Is our patience short? Do we have different levels of patience for different things? Sit down and listen so some stories over slim to no patience and the one who is ever so patient. We hope this episode finds you safe and hopefully some words of wisdom from our mistakes.
This week on the B-Side, we begin by looking at the account of Elijah the prophet during his greatest struggle (1 Kings 19) to discuss how it is that God uses experiences in the valley to lead us to encounters on the mountaintop. We identify that with our own struggles (Carl and Mike's recent desire to run away, in particular), and how it is that Jesus serves as our Bridge through those valleys. That leads us to a raw conversation with Ron on how it is that Jesus comes to eye level with us, and Carl connects that with an encounter between Jesus and the Pharisees over the Sabbath from the Book of Mark to explain how He represents a much-needed meeting between heaven and earth in our hearts. [Bible Study: 1 Kings 19; Mark 2:23-28, 3:1-6] Thanks for listening. We pray that it's a blessing to you! In this week's episode, we talk about pride, the sin nature, and the pain in our hearts that too often deepens it. Are we yielding ourselves to Jesus in order to be healed from past abuses and made new, or are we contributing to a cycle of hurt that will never end apart from our Savior? Let's discuss that together. On this week's episode of the B-Side, Carl and Coffee Mike sit down one-on-one to talk about, among other things, a passage from Revelation chapter 3. What can modern believers learn from Jesus' rebuke to the broader faith community in ancient Sardis? This brings us to a connection with a rebuke Jesus gives the Pharisees in Matthew chapter 23. Are we stumbling in a similar way, and are we blinding ourselves to it like they did? Also, we look at the faithful remnant in Sardis, and what it means when Jesus declares them “worthy”. Let's dig in together! [Bible Study: Revelation 3:1-6; Matthew 23:1-3,27-28] Thanks for listening. We pray that it's a blessing to you!
