Damn, it's been a minute but we're back with episode 61. We had to take a break, to reflect and to heal. We decided to be transparent about why we hadn't recorded in so long, and do our part in hosting conversations surrounding (our) mental health and steadily normalizing the types of conversations that need to be had more regularly. For those in the GTA, Planned Parenthood serves as an accessible (and free) resource for identifying and getting in touch with support services near to you that best meet your needs and preferences (down to cultural sensitivity). You can book a free consultation (over the phone or in person) with a case consultant to start this process. Visit: http://www.ppt.on.ca/services-and-programs/health-services/counselling-and-case-coordination/ If you'd prefer to do some searching on your own, here is an insanely well documented set of pdfs that outline so many of the resources available with Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area that one can access. These resources were compiled and willingly shared by Janany Jeyasundram. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1OtT6Y8rIHn1KHgILbAZSaX1C5WUeutw4?usp=sharing (will keep this link in my bio) More Episodes to come, more videos to come! Thanks for continuing to listen. Available on Youtube, Soundcloud, Google Play, and the Itunes Podcast app.
On this VERY special episode, we run a cross-over podcast with our pals from Dash The Curry - a podcast that explores topics ranging from Eelam Thamil identity, culture, taboos, relationships and more from the perspective of Thamil diasporic feminists. On this episode Nivake and Krish host another AUA (Ask Us Anything) episode, and get caught up with whats been going on in each other's lives. The lads talk about wanting to hate people again, their favourite projects of 2018 so far, and their thoughts on cancel culture. While we have your attention: The PC party of Ontario recently passed on a resolution to debate gender identity. The added danger, and extreme harm this adds to the lives of trans, and non-gender conforming folks is unjustified, and there's no better time to express your support and solidarity to those who are, and will continue to be oppressed as a consequence of intense homophobia and transphobia embedded in all forms of government. Here are a few ways you can play your part: 1)E-mail your MPP, particularly if they are PC. Let them know of how damaging this decision is, and how you care to see more support for trans and non binary folks 2) Reach out to the folks in your communities who are at risk, and are most vulnerable to state violence. Share your support and consider what their needs at this time might be. 3) If possible, consider donating to Trans organisations. A quick google search can provide you with a bounty of orgs that are fighting for the continued visibility and inclusion of trans and non binary folk in a country that has failed to provide the support and warmth that they claim to provide to those who are marginalised. Thanks for listening! Intro: SMUCKERS (Instrumental) - Tyler, The Creator Outro: John Doe - Young Fathers
