Rasheed Newson knows the industry from the inside out. As a television drama writer, producer, and showrunner, he co-developed Bel-Air and left his fingerprints on some of the most critically acclaimed series of the past decade — The Chi, Animal Kingdom, Narcos. Now he's telling the truth about Tinseltown in a way only historical fiction can: his novel, There's Only One Sin in Hollywood. Dr. Nii-Quartelai Quartey sits down with Newson for a conversation about power, storytelling, and what it really costs to survive — and thrive — in one of the most cutthroat industries in the world. Kameelah Janan Rasheed Gives Language a Body

For the latest episode of the show, I have the honor of speaking with artist Kameelah Janan Rasheed on the occasion of her inclusion in Data Consciousness: Reframing Blackness in Contemporary Print, on view at Print Center New York through December 20, 2025. Kameelah Janan Rasheed is a learner and death doula in training. Her middle name, Janan, comes from the Arabic trilateral root (J-N-N / جنان), evoking that which is unmoored, veiled, and unsanctioned. Accordingly, Rasheed explores the relationship between language, mysticism, and disobedience. She examines the materiality of wayward language - acrobatic (Clarice Lispector) sentences with trap doors (Fred Moten), runaway syllables that scatter to the marooned edges of a page, words that escape the orbit of its mother sentence, footnotes that consume their reference, and utterances that dissipate before being recorded. She also explores the materiality of reading, centering spiritual practices where reading happens through touch and digestion, rather than solely looking. A "language person" (Paul Soulellis), she "gives language a body" (Chang Yuchen) through her large-scale installations, multichannel video works, publications, software, performance, public archives, and learning platforms. Read full bio here.   This episode was originally published exclusively on Patreon on December 11, 2025. Follow the show on IG at @theartofitallshow and follow the host at @dariasimoneharper! Barbecue is bigger than smoke and meat. In this recorded segment, Rasheed and the crew dig into the business side of barbecue: restaurant rebrands, who gets to keep accolades when the team changes, and how misinformation spreads through “best of” lists. They also break down why trademarks and utilization matter, and how protecting your name is part of protecting your future in the food industry. Then the conversation widens into BBQ gatekeeping, Texas barbecue as a brand, the power of food media to shift a restaurant's momentum, and why titles like “chef” and “pitmaster” mean less when they're not backed by real reps. If you care about barbecue culture, entrepreneurship, and where the industry is headed, this one is for you. Subscribe and watch the full episode for the complete discussion.

Gutey finally stepped to the podium — and he's furious. Tonight's After Dark crew breaks down every signal from the GM's press conference, from his refusal to blame injuries for the five-game collapse to his thinly veiled frustration with the coaching staff. Mike Hebring leads the charge, arguing that the real takeaway isn't about corners or special teams — it's that the organization knows something went seriously wrong, and hard conversations have already happened behind closed doors. The callers keep the energy rolling. Ben from Minnesota pitches Iowa's Kaden Wetjen as the ultimate return specialist, and the PFF numbers back it up — 26.8 yards per punt return with three touchdowns and zero muffs. Jared asks about signing Rasheed Shaheed in free agency to finally fix the return game. Bill from South Carolina drops a Civil War analogy comparing LaFleur to McClellan. Nico debuts a poem about beefy linemen and Lombardi's law. Aaron brings back the ukulele with a coaching staff anthem fueled by a couple cold ones. And Beer Cheese voices what every fan is feeling — how can the front office not know the problem when we can see it from our couches? Ryan closes with an honest ultimatum to the organization: if you won't give us transparency, fine — but then you better deliver results. This episode is brought to you by PrizePicks! Chris from Alabama absolutely unloads on the Packers fan base in one of the most passionate calls we've had all season. After a meaningless Week 18 loss to the Vikings with Clayton Tune under center, the discourse has gotten out of control—and Chris isn't having it anymore. Three Hall of Fame quarterbacks in 30 years, consistent playoff appearances, and fans are acting like we're the Cleveland Browns? The conversation dives deep into the Matt LaFleur debate, examining why the criticism doesn't hold up under scrutiny. We break down the injury context that nobody wants to acknowledge—losing Tucker Craft, Micah Parsons, and Jaire Alexander for the season isn't something you just overcome. Plus, an honest discussion about Matthew Golden that might ruffle some feathers: is he struggling to grasp the offense, and was that first-round pick really the right call? We also tackle the offensive line question heading into the playoffs—Morgan or Rasheed at left tackle?—and preview what it's going to take to beat Chicago in the Wild Card round. It's time to stop moping and start believing. We're in the playoffs. Let's act like it. This episode is brought to you by PrizePicks!
