Stefan Lassnig spricht mit Luis Paulitsch von der "DATUM-Stiftung" und Autor eines Buchs über alternative Medien über Definition, Geschichte und demokratiepolitische Bedeutung von sogenannten "alternativen Medien". Historisch reichen alternative Medien von Flugschriften der Reformation über linke Studierenden-, Frauen- und Umweltbewegungen bis zu heutigen digitalen Angeboten, die eine Gegenöffentlichkeit zum Mainstream beanspruchen. Heute sind viele dieser Projekte eng mit rechtspopulistischen oder rechtsextremen Milieus vernetzt, nutzen Social Media, um Empörung zu schüren, Verschwörungsnarrative zu verbreiten und Reichweite über ihre eigentliche Szene hinaus zu erzielen.  Paulitsch unterscheidet zwischen demokratiebereichernden Alternativmedien, die Lücken im Mediensystem schließen, und Propagandamedien, die Desinformation verbreiten und medienethische Standards missachten. Ein von ihm mitentwickelter Kriterienkatalog (u.a. Bekenntnis zu Rechtsstaat, Grundrechten, Fehlerkultur, Transparenz von Eigentum und Finanzierung) soll helfen, förderwürdigen Journalismus von politisch motivierten Kampagnenmedien zu trennen. Anhand von Beispielen wie Exxpress und Njus werden Fragen nach Finanzierung, Oligarchisierung der Medienlandschaft, Nähe zu Parteien und ausländischem Einfluss (etwa aus Russland) diskutiert. Kritisiert wird auch, dass etablierte Medien propagandistische Projekte und ihre Geldflüsse lange zu wenig investigativ beobachtet haben, obwohl diese im digitalen Raum mittels Vernetzung und koordinierter Kampagnen Agenda Setting betreiben. Abschließend plädiert Paulitsch für eine Reform der Medienförderung zugunsten von Qualitätsjournalismus, strengere Kriterien für öffentliche Gelder, mehr investigativen und klimabezogenen Medienjournalismus sowie kreative zivilgesellschaftliche Gegenangebote im digitalen Raum.Links zur FolgeAlternative Medien. Er ruft dazu auf, dass sich Forschung aktiv in die demokratische Debatte einbringt.“ Sachlich statt schrill Drosten warnte vor einer „Wissenskrise“ – einer Gesellschaft, die den Bezug zu Fakten verliert. Seine Rede richtet sich gegen politische Stimmen, die Wissenschaft gezielt infrage stellen. „Er bleibt ruhig, analytisch und bescheiden. Genau das macht die Wirkung seiner Rede aus,“ sagt Kramer. In einer Zeit, in der öffentliche Reden oft auf Emotion und Empörung setzen, ist Drostens Stil ein bewusstes Gegenmodell: unaufgeregt, aber präzise. Ein Plädoyer für Vernunft Die Jury lobt Drostens Fähigkeit, komplexe Themen verständlich zu machen. Er zeigt, dass wissenschaftliche Erkenntnis und gesellschaftliche Verantwortung zusammengehören. Somit drohe der EU eine Art "hybrider Zwei-Fronten-Krieg", da auch Russland bereits aktiv anti-europäische Kräfte stärke, meint Kai. Der aber davor warnt, Europa klein zu reden. Es sei auf dem Weg zu mehr militärischer Souveränität, befinde sich aber in einer Übergangsphase und sei ohne die USA noch verletzlich. Stefan Lassnig spricht mit Luis Paulitsch von der "DATUM-Stiftung" und Autor eines Buchs über alternative Medien über Definition, Geschichte und demokratiepolitische Bedeutung von sogenannten "alternativen Medien". Historisch reichen alternative Medien von Flugschriften der Reformation über linke Studierenden-, Frauen- und Umweltbewegungen bis zu heutigen digitalen Angeboten, die eine Gegenöffentlichkeit zum Mainstream beanspruchen. Heute sind viele dieser Projekte eng mit rechtspopulistischen oder rechtsextremen Milieus vernetzt, nutzen Social Media, um Empörung zu schüren, Verschwörungsnarrative zu verbreiten und Reichweite über ihre eigentliche Szene hinaus zu erzielen.  Paulitsch unterscheidet zwischen demokratiebereichernden Alternativmedien, die Lücken im Mediensystem schließen, und Propagandamedien, die Desinformation verbreiten und medienethische Standards missachten. Ein von ihm mitentwickelter Kriterienkatalog (u.a. Bekenntnis zu Rechtsstaat, Grundrechten, Fehlerkultur, Transparenz von Eigentum und Finanzierung) soll helfen, förderwürdigen Journalismus von politisch motivierten Kampagnenmedien zu trennen. Anhand von Beispielen wie Exxpress und Njus werden Fragen nach Finanzierung, Oligarchisierung der Medienlandschaft, Nähe zu Parteien und ausländischem Einfluss (etwa aus Russland) diskutiert. Kritisiert wird auch, dass etablierte Medien propagandistische Projekte und ihre Geldflüsse lange zu wenig investigativ beobachtet haben, obwohl diese im digitalen Raum mittels Vernetzung und koordinierter Kampagnen Agenda Setting betreiben.
