Guest host Krish Dhanam steps in for Todd to explore how real leadership starts with humility—and why our political class so often misses it. Krish warms up with a classic tongue-in-cheek poem to highlight the absurdity of today's shouting matches, then lays out The Leader's Pulse: a practical framework for conservatives who want to influence without the rage.First up is Posture—the foundation of humble leadership—built on a surrendered spirit, a servant's heart, and a selfless mindset. From George Washington's restraint to everyday public service, Krish argues that character is the bedrock of trust.Next is Patience—the discipline of lasting influence. Don't react; respond with wisdom. Stay steady, tell the truth, and persist in peace, taking a cue from reformers who labored for years before breakthroughs came. Finally, Persuasion—the fruit of Christ-like influence. Krish connects America's Judeo-Christian roots to the way we engage opponents today: firm convictions, gracious tone, and the courage to love neighbors without surrendering truth. You'll hear personal stories from Krish's journey with the late Zig Ziglar, his work with Patriot Academy, and why teaching young Americans to debate ideas fairly matters now more than ever. If you're conservative—not bitter—and want to lead with clarity, conviction, and joy, this one's for you.Questions or feedback for Krish? Email krish@patriotacademy.com. In episode 304 of The Just Checking In Podcast we checked back in with Nikhil Patel, alongside his mother, Gita Patel. Nikhil Patel currently works as English Teacher and Student Support Lead at the Cambridge International School, based in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, where he has worked since August 2021. We first checked in with Nik way back when in JCIP #40, in May 2020! We discussed his time working with our Founder Freddie at Barracuda's Summer Camps, where they first met, and his teaching journey. At that point in time Nik was working at a school in Doha in Qatar. In this episode we are checking back in with Nik, but also his mum Gita. Gita works in teaching herself and has worked in a number of roles across her teaching career. She currently works as an SEND 1:1 Learning Coach & Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), and Gita was a big influence on Nik in his desire to be a teacher and has supported him on that journey. Gita also worked at Barracudas at the time as Nikhil and Freddie did, as one of the senior leaders at the camp, and still works there every summer to this day in 2025. The structure for this podcast will follow a similar to the amazing conversation we had with previous guests Jay Williams and his mum Niru, and will contain some similar themes too, with Niru and Gita both coming from an Indian background. Unlike Niru, Gita was actually born in Mombasa in Kenya and was part of the Indian community there, before she moved to the UK when she was seven years old. In this episode we discuss Gita's mental health journey, the challenges of assimilating to the UK as a young girl, navigating adolescence and starting a family. We then discuss motherhood, raising two sons in Nik and his younger brother Krishan, the anxieties she had about raising them with their dual English-Indian background, even when it came to choosing their names, and how she and her husband tried to give them the best of both these worlds. After that, we have a nostalgic chat about Barracuda's, before discussing Nik and Krish's decisions to go to university and move away from home, flying the proverbial nest and the impact that had on Gita's mental health as a parent. We finish by discussing the relationship they have now as adults, how they lean on each other for advice and support as fellow teaching professionals, and how Gita deals with Nik living halfway across the world in the UAE on a weekly basis. Here at D&SD Over the Summer on Wednesdays we will be releasing some of our cool side campaign episodes! This series is called “The Playa Rose” is a western campaign DM'd by our Very own Andrew Kornblatt. Serpentine Visions and Restless Sleep After collecting their thoughts and taking shelter for the night, the party experiences a disturbing development. During the deep hours before dawn, Marshal and Morgan are afflicted by strange, unsettling dreams that leave them with restless, broken sleep. Both of their unique nightmares end with the same terrifying image: a snake-like figure with piercing yellow eyes. The next morning finds them gathered around a table in Mona's saloon, sharing their troubling visions and debating their next course of action. The dreams seem connected to their investigation, suggesting supernatural forces are taking an active interest in their activities. They must decide whether to seek out the mysterious "table witch" mentioned by the gravedigger, investigate the Dragonborn tribe that Floyd had been studying, or pursue another lead entirely. From Floyd's journals, Morgan and Consuela learn more about his relationship with the local Dragonborn tribe and his growing concerns about Laurentine's mining operations. The scientist's notes reveal his frustration with the Dragonborn's initial coldness and distrust, their treatment by eastern settlers, and his gradual friendship with a tribal member named Krish. That's the end of our Playa Rose Summer Release. Want to hear the rest? Apar's income has more than doubled after he started his own business. His advisor recommends Roth contributions but he's skeptical due to his high income. Who's right? Keith is frustrated by the conflicting advice he's heard about Roth conversions. Is it better to do it while he's young and earning a lower income, or should he wait until closer to retirement?
