I spent half of my childhood living between my parents and grandparents homes in the bay. area. The second half of my childhood was spent in Sacramento, CA. My mother moved here in the early 90's seeking better career opportunities and my family followed. Sacramento, although much slower than the bay area, felt like home pretty quickly. I started high school, made lots of friends, and eventually got a degree in Arts. I've been living in Sacramento now for over years 20 years. I love traveling and have been to 13 different countries. As a traveler, I've used Airbnb many times to find unique, affordable places to stay. I love it. So, when I was looking for ways to earn a few extra bucks to help pay the mortgage on my first home, I thought it made sense to host a few travelers myself. As a resident, I've never really thought of Sacramento as a sought after destination; so when my house was booked 6 times within the first 3 days of putting it on the platform, I was completely shocked. I realized then that there was serious demand in the area and that I could make much more than just a few dollars to help with the mortgage. With a little bit of focused attention, strategic creativity and market research, my Airbnb business was born. Now, after 2 years of hosting, I have learned a lot. I've also earned enough profits to expand the business. In 2019 I began building my second Airbnb property - the tiny Art House. I have enjoyed hosting tremendously and am excited to share some of my successes (and failures) with others seeking a way to earn more income, which is especially critical now given the times."
