The Candlelight Service was inspired by my parents' 45 years of Christmas Eve parties they had with family and friends. Our style is not necessarily the traditional one. It’s more like sitting around in our living room with the children running around, singing carols together, having some solos sung and some of the kids performing. We’ll have Dr. Jim back tonight reading to the children “Twas The Night Before Christmas” before Rebecca leads them in Jingle Bells. Who will be the Drummer Child this year, and who will be the Partridge? As I grew, I came to understand the metaphor more clearly–that no room at the inn was about a message for us today. We can get so caught up in the busyness and stories of our life that we have no room for the birth of greater awareness or the “Christ Consciousness.” One of the beauties of this season is it reminds us to slow down, create room, be available for the birth of a greater possibility and the glory of God in our life! ~ In Love, Rev. Our goal was to accumulate 200 bikes for the children of North County who otherwise would be going without, then have them distributed through the Community Resource Center Holiday Baskets project at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Seaside gathered more than 250 bikes for our local children – Thank You for a huge success! This season of Joy and Light reminds us to pause and remember the reason for the season. The world we walk in is filled with the Gifts of the Divine...and this includes you. Your presence and contributions to Seaside have been a tremendous blessing this year. Debbie McDonnell was a big part of Seaside for fifteen years, having led the Wednesday night services as well as having been on staff for years before she was called away to the Monterey Center for Spiritual Living as their Senior Minister. It’s a joy to welcome her back home for the next six months! She has come to "play" with us and head up Finance and Operations between her pulpit assignments, which will be at least until Easter. It’s interesting to think that I asked Rev. Debbie last summer to speak today before we even knew she’d be back at Seaside.  I wish each of you a glorious Thanksgiving! You are such an important part of my "gratitude list." Your Board of Trustees will take this collective input and use it to put together an informed 2020 budget based on the intentions of this community. Every time I’m handed the pledge list throughout the year, each person receives my prayers. I recognize the partnership we have forged and know the Good that is manifesting in your life and the lives of those who have aligned with Seaside as their spiritual community. I know rich blessings continue to expand for those who have placed God first. This kind of commitment brings peace and security that comes when one turns to Spirit first in all aspects of living. Remembering Spirit first in good times helps one experience the Presence in challenging times.
