This is a place where we come together after the long work week to relax and have a chat. We're all family here, even if we're just distant cousins. So no topic is off limits! We will laugh, cry and grow together. One conversation (with a Kay) at a time!
Aren't you just grateful that we're still here? Living, breathing, dreaming? Look what the Lord has done!

The Africa of our dreams is at the core of who we are. When we know who we are, and stand confidently (not arrogantly) in that, then we will be begin to see our dreams unfold. We will begin to see that we're all seeking change that is necessary and work better to achieve it together. This is my summary of the wise words that Zubeida Jaffer shared in Konversation with Kay-Dee Mashile on #AfricaDay. We're the ones we've been waiting for!
The relationship between editors and writers needs to be built on proper communication. I've learnt so much from Ace over the years, from a distance. After this, I really just want to have coffee with Ace and talk about every sentence I've ever written. This is a reminder that we all have somewhere to go. We all have more to learn. But we also all have stories that just need the right helpers to bring to life. What a pleasure this was

"This art is not for the walls, it's your minds!" What an empowering Konversation. It is very important that we learn about the power that we hold as black creatives. We not only have been given power but also the responsibility to ensure that we do not devalue the African narrative but rather create institutions that will outlive us and sustain our stories. I'm without words! Many thanks to #AyandaMabulu and his lovely team @space_mecca. I'm definitely making myself an official member of the family! The work you all do is essential
So, we had to change the plans because technology never loved us! But, we actually had a great Konversation nonetheless! Should out to @officialnibizijeanclaude, please check out his music on all the streaming platforms. His latest single, Vuga, has a music video that's available on #YouTube. Do check it out! Many thanks for Pastor @davidimanimusic for not only helping me make great music but for doing so in the most charitable way ever! (I pray for the day that God releases Pastor David to all the nations because the anointing over his life guys!)
You don't need much to start, or to grow and evolve in your craft for that matter! You just need to use who and what you have at your disposal and not try to do it all alone. Also, don't be lazy!
Happiness doesn't come from getting what you want. It comes from loving what you have. Be grateful and don't lose hope. Everything works together for the good in their own appointment time! So... I accidentally deleted the HD file I want editing for YouTube off my backup coz I thought it was done exporting, only to find that it failed. And got deleted from the editing app as well in the process. So yes, that's how you start a year without plans I guess. We take the crookeds with the straights: watch the full video on Facebook instead at https://www.facebook.com/thekaydeeblog/videos/419321972609412/. See you next week, hopefully things will work out better
This is the most transparent and vulnerable episode of the season... We all need help every now and then. We all make mistakes. Because we are all human.
As we approach #16DaysOfActivism, I thought to leave a message for my future daughter...
Here's the thing... Teen years are not for sex! Dear future parents, take notes! Also, please support the #50x10Challenge to help G500 Foundation plant 1 MILLION cabbages! Thank you so much for showing up
So Sis is driving now and stuff y'all... One thing that driving will teach you is that we're all going to our individual predetermined destinations. We all have our own speed and time allocated to get there. We all also all have our different fuel budgets and travel requirements. Even if someone else is also going to the same destination, we each have our own journeys. If someone is in a hurry, they'll overtake you. Some people you will overtake. Some vehicles are bigger and higher than yours, others you look down at. As long as you're on your lane, no one and nothing has any right to rush you or derail you in any way. As long stick to your lane and focus on getting to your destination. Everyone else is on their own journey. #podcasting
Family! It's been Hek-Tiek! I'ma see y'all next week. We're gonna keep on going with the #DearBabyGirl Series. We're still family
I was talking to the Man of God yesterday and it reminded me of a series that @wordsbyezekiel did with his wife where they asked Christian singles a series of questions. One of the questions was why Christian guys won't date Christian girls and this one guy basically said that we don't see our toxic traits and often think that our achievements and purity make us entitled to a man's love and, dare I say, worship. One lesson I hope to teach my daughter is that she isn't entitled to anything in life. Let alone an entire stranger's lifelong devoted love. And when a man chooses to give her that, she should know that it is a mere blessing from God. And if she doesn't get it, it is well. The same goes for friendships. You're a not entitled, Baby Girl. You are not. This also makes women who don't get married feel as though they're not good enough. Guys, we need to stop! @KayDee_Mashile
I know the world is cruel, I know that people can disappoint you. But it's is important to have a community of people that you can trust. You cannot live this life alone. Be vigilant, be cautious but do allow yourself the permission to trust.
So... Sis went MIA for a minute there. Sorry y'all. But you know what? It's actually okay to take a break sometimes. Check out @ASSERTwomen on the socials and @Taugadi56 on IG. See you tomorrow!
You can be everything and anything you want to be, nothing can stop you. Certainly not gender stereotypes. #DearBabyGirl, push those boundaries. Take the risks. You can do it all!
This isn't something we always hear, but it is definitely something we should never forget. Share you advice with us @KayDee_Mashile or The Kay-Dee Blog on all social media platforms. #DearBabyGirl
We often try to earn people's love... But, my #DearBabyGirl, you deserve to be loved. You don't need to do anything to earn or keep love. Now be good okay, but that shouldn't be a prerequisite to you being loved. There should never be one in the first place. You DESERVE to be loved. Believe that. Always!
Self-worth is something that we each need to find for and within ourselves. Today's advice is a reminder that you are worthy! Just as much as you are enough.
Validation is something that all people seek every now and then. Let this remind and validate you, you are enough! No one could have said it better than Ms Chika!
We often forget that the people who birthed us are just that: people! They are people with their own set of traumas and experiences. They are doing the best with that they know and what they have. Show them some grace.
Join me from the 1st of October on the #DearChild Series

Wow! This one, you may need a box of tissues for. And your notebook. Thanks so much for sharing your story Ms Claire ♥
On this Konversation, Nonhlanhla stops by to share on the challenges of transitioning from dating into marriage and how different expectations can manifest as clashes when not properly communicated. She also expounds on counselling before and after the wedding and the vital role that this plays in a new marriage setting.
As The Church, we have to lead crucial konversations. If for no other reason, maybe so that we ensure that the love and truth of God aren't left out of the narrative. But rather from that place build towards a society where people aren't born statistics. A society where we live out what we preach. Where we don't rate black people on a scale of worthiness based on what we know about them. We need to do better. But like Pastor John and Steven said, before we take a stand, we need to take a sit and talk. Okay let's talk!
Today we chat to @PerfectLoveBooks books Author, Xabiso Tshabalala Maqala who penned the much anticipated Beautifully Broken: Divinely Repaired. She speaks on her previous relationship and how it went from healthy to unhealthy in more ways than one. She also speaks on her healing process and how she was able to embrace love again. Listen now and share with the extended fam!
Okay, so this is a packed episode fam! Grab that notebook and come let's chat to the Houstons.
