I am on a project for the next two weeks, so I thought to reshare this episode from August 2022. The beauty of this podcast is the value of these life stories, which never change; there is always something to learn.  On the show, I mention Focus coaching and tool to get you moving.  The link to focus Coaching is here, do book a free call, it will move you froward. https://lifepassionandbusiness.com/focus-coaching/   Rocky Lalvani : Take the first step now Are you setting your course, are you taking that first step?   My guest on the show is an example of someone living a good life by design a man who came from humble beginnings.   Rocky Lalvani was born in India, when he was two years old, the family emigrated to the US, and while it was a great opportunity, the family had to start at the bottom.  It was a tough beginning, but they worked hard as immigrant families do, the American dream inspired them, and they built their wealth. During Rocky's early life, there were lots of success and money conversations with other ex-pat communities.  While listening to these family chats, he learned the importance of negotiation and how to hustle.  Starting with his paper route, he discovers how good service leads to good tips. At college, he was buying and selling stuff until he secured a real-estate licence to sell properties. After finishing high school and going to college, he did a degree in Economics and went out into the world to work. He did many jobs and eventually built a solid business creating operational and management spreadsheets for small businesses. Rocky's challenge was that he found it almost impossible to take the first steps and move his life forward. Our conversation is not about the work he did but the wisdom he developed. We touch on mentors, health, fitness, food and more. All of the steps that help him move forward and build the life he wanted. Today Rocky calls himself the Chief Profitability Adviser for business owners. He teaches them how to ensure they get paid and that they make pro     Further details about this podcast along with my Guest's website and social links are all available at: https://www.lifepassionandbusiness.com/rocky-lalvani-taking-the-first-step     Life Passion & Business is dedicated to exploring what it takes to be Extraordinary, to face challenges and rejoice in the opportunities they bring, and expand our vision into new ways of thinking and living. Cindy Esliger addresses the topic of procrastination and the obstacles that keep us from taking action. Procrastination can sometimes be around waiting for the perfect time to start, a form of perfectionism, and Cindy offers advice on how to move past that to achieve our goals.Procrastination doesn't mean we are lazy or have bad time management. It's more about coping with how we feel about certain tasks. It can be caused by stress. In order to start a task, we need a strategy, especially if it's a task that bores or overwhelms us. Cindy has three tips for overcoming procrastination by taking action. 1. Break things down, 2. Embrace imperfection, and 3. Take that first step. There is value in breaking the overall goal into smaller steps so it's not so overwhelming. If we can simply tackle one small step at a time, we achieve the forward momentum we need. Cindy shares four steps for creating an achievable action plan: 1. Start with the end goal in mind, 2. Ensure each step is clear and doable, 3. Set deadlines and milestones, and 4. Review and adjust the plan as needed. Cindy's advice helps break down procrastination into something manageable that can help spur us on to achieving our goals. Resources discussed in this episode:Guide to Overcoming ProcrastinationAstronomic AudioConfidence Collective—Contact Cindy Esliger Career Confidence Coaching: website | instagram | facebook | linkedin | email

I have a lot of advice to offer, but if I had to condense it into one key point, it would be this: Take action. If you're thinking about starting a business or becoming an entrepreneur, it's easy to get stuck in a cycle of overthinking. We can spend hours reading and watching content on platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, accumulating a lot of knowledge that doesn't really become useful because we haven't put it into practice. We might believe we understand it, but the truth is, we likely don't until we apply it. We find ourselves in a place where we want to take action and pursue our entrepreneurial goals, but we hesitate. So, if you're truly committed and this passion runs deep within you, you must take that initial step forward. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-inventive-journey/message

In 2014 Angela Maxwell was feeling stuck. She wanted something fresh, something exciting. After a chance encounter she landed upon her goal - she was going to set off on one of the largest adventures imaginable: a walk around the world. She didn't know exactly how the journey would play out, but that was part of the appeal - the whole planet was waiting for her to just take the first step. In this episode, Matthew Syed hears from Angela about her 6 year walk around the world, from the misery of freezing cold nights, to finding beauty in solitary nights sleeping under the stars. And Angela explores her ideas about courage - after she was raped during her expedition, she chose to continue her journey around the world. Over the six years she walked, she would find deep connection to herself and to others, making lifelong friends and sinking into the places, slowly, just placing one foot in front of the other. We hear from Susan Houge Mackenzie, a professor of psychology at the University of Otago, about the benefits of adventure to our mindset, even 'micro adventures' which take place much nearer to home, and from naturalist and conservationist Nadia Shaikh, who is a land justice activist working with the Right to Roam campaign, who makes a case that we need far greater access to nature to be able to undertake micro adventures in our local area. Matthew considers how adventures big and small can clarify our goals for our lives, and asks us to consider whether we ought to all be heading out on adventures a little more often. Today is the last episode for the series we started in episode 4 titled “Take the F.I.R.S.T. step: 5 steps you need to take to take to go from idea to start a business. I'm excited to explore step 5 which is the letter “T” in my F.I.R.S.T. step method. My "F.I.R.S.T." step method is an acronym I created to help you move from idea to starting a business. The letter “T” in my F.I.R.S.T. step method is “Take The Leap”. Let's do a quick recap of steps 1, 2, and step 3. Step 1: “F” - Find Clarity Step 2: “I” - Ideate with your “good example” Step 3: “R” - Research and Review” Step 4: “S” - Set Reasonable Boundaries Step 5: “T” - Take The Leap The thought of starting a business always scared me. I had a million unanswered questions. I felt I wasn't qualified. I felt entrepreneurship was for extroverts and not introverts like me. I was also afraid of being responsible for other people's income. But deep inside my heart, I knew I was called to be an entrepreneur. You'll always be afraid to take the leap to start your service-based business. But you can either let the fear stop you or you can do what I did - Feel the fear and do it anyway. The path to starting a business might feel terrifying today, but if you persist it will become your path to direct impact, freedom of creative expression, time/schedule flexibility, and ownership of your own work. I pray this episode transforms your life. Enjoy!   Mentions Sample New Business Launch Checklist   Next Steps I created a new Facebook group called “Start a service-based business community for Christian women”. It really can feel dramatic when it comes to stepping outside our comfort zone to follow our dreams. In this episode, hosts Kevin Palmieri and Alan Lazaros talk about the importance of taking the first step and having the courage to do it no matter how difficult it could be. All too often we let past failure or imposter syndrome hold us back from reaching our potential.  It's time to bust through our "Walls of Awful" and be the version of you that you were meant to be!

Daily Emunah Podcast - Daily Emunah By Rabbi David Ashear

The world runs based on our deeds. Sometimes the answers to our problems are so simple, but Hashem wants us to do something before we get them. Nothing that we ever do goes unnoticed and if we need to correct something we have done in the past, Hashem in His infinite chesed, leads us on the path we need to follow to make that correction. Usually, when we take the first step and try to improve, that is when Hashem opens the doors for us to help with what we need to correct. A man, who we'll call Yaakov, told me his step-grandfather is an avid art collector and has many rare paintings and rare photographs. Four years ago, he gave Yaakov a piece of art worth over a million dollars. At that time, Yaakov was living at his other grandfather's house and that is the same time that Covid broke out. For business reasons, Yaakov ended up moving to Africa for a year right in the middle of Covid and, while he was gone, his family sold the house he had been living in and packed up all of his things. Initially, he was only planning on being in Africa for a short while, but in the end, he stayed for the entire year. When he got back and went through all of the boxes, he realized the piece of art was missing. He checked everywhere and called everyone, but nobody had seen it. To say he was distraught would be a very big understatement. Recently, he has been having some other issues and found himself spending his days trying to resolve them. In the process, he needed to do a lot of waiting at different locations so he decided he was going to bring along with him a book on emunah to read. Right when something very frustrating happened, he said to himself he needed to open the book and try to find some chizuk . He read a story about a gentleman who was having business problems and then did some self introspection and realized there were people he owed money to that he forgot to pay back. After he made those payments, his business problems ceased. After reading that piece, Yaakov tried to think if there was somebody that he owed money to. Then he remembered, the day he was leaving for Africa, he found out that he needed a new passport photo and ran into a local store to get one. In the end, after he took the pictures, he found out he didn't need them so he never went back to that store to pick them up. Right then and there, he went to the store to pay that man and ask for his forgiveness. Baruch Hashem, the man wasn't upset, but he did have the pictures waiting and he was expecting to be paid the $57 he was owed for them. Yaakov happily paid him and was glad he got that accomplished. As he was walking out of the store, the man asked him what he wanted to do with the piece of art that he left there to be re-framed. He said to Yaakov, “You told me when you came back to pick up your passport picture, you were going to let me know what kind of frame you wanted, but you never came back to pick up the picture.” Yaakov had no recollection of any of that happening. Apparently, on the day of his trip, as he was frantically running around, he also dropped off that piece of art to be re-framed. He had misplaced a million dollar piece of art and may have never gotten it back. He decided to try to fix something and when he discovered what he could fix he immediately ran to do it. Hashem led Yaakov to the one place in the world he needed to go to find what he so desperately wanted. Everything revolves around our deeds and, very often, when we are able to correct them, Hashem reveals the answers to our problems.
