Really Interesting Women The podcast Ep. 156 Chika Ikogwe In the evolving landscape of Australian entertainment, few actors embody the multicultural spirit and artistic versatility of contemporary Australia like Chika Ikogwe. Chika stands out as a trailblazer in Australia's entertainment industry.  She's celebrated for her dynamic acting talent, writing prowess, and unwavering advocacy for diversity and representation.  Born in Nigeria, Chika moved to Australia at a young age and had to navigate, at times, very challenging circumstances. After graduating high school, she enrolled at Victorian College of the Arts before transitioning to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting) program at NIDA, Australia's premier performing arts institution.  What followed was a string of successful theatre shows and numerous awards and accolades including the winner of 'Best Newcomer' at the Sydney Theatre Awards in 2019 and the recipient of the 2020 ATYP Rose Byrne Emerging Female Leader in the Arts scholarship. She went on to play a starring role in the Emmy award winning tv series Heartbreak High and, more recently, has worked with Russell Crowe and Liam Hemsworth in a major film.Chika's journey from a four-year-old immigrant to an award-winning actor and writer embodies the successful integration of diverse cultural perspectives into mainstream Australian arts. In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Giana, Chika, and Ravengriim discuss episodes one through three of Nina the Starry Bride! In episode four, Nina and Azure's feelings for one another deepen. In order to protect him, Nina decides to leave for Galgada to fulfill her duty and become their queen.  In episode five, Nina arrives in Bastia and tries to win over the cruel Prince Set. Things escalate as Nina defends Anne, who works for Prince Set, for “stealing” when an aggressive guard captain accuses her, and Prince Set slices Nina across the chest. Despite the dreariness of her circumstances, Nina chooses to smile and steel her resolve. In episode six, Nina wins over the staff in Bastia by putting the aggressive guard captain in his place while Prince Set is absent. The prince unexpectedly kisses Nina despite being hostile towards her thus far. In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Chika and Giana review episodes fifty-seven through fifty-nine of Fruits Basket (2019)! In episode fifty-seven, we learn about Ren and Akira's love story, and the terrible way Ren treated Akito as a child. When Akira dies, a maid gives Akito a box “containing Akira's soul”. Ren, unaware of what is inside the box, violently attacks Akito to take it from her. Kureno tries to console Akito after another zodiac bond breaks, assuring her she can start over. Akito hurts Kureno in response. In episode fifty-eight, Kyo and Tohru have a difficult conversation about her feelings for him and his past relationship with Kyoko, including him being at the site of her fatal accident. In episode fifty-nine, Tohru helps Akito decide to start over, only to fall from a dangerous height as the ground below her crumbles beneath her feet. Kyo breaks down at the sight of her injuries. In episode sixty, Akito apologizes to Uo for stabbing Kureno, who shows her compassion. Uo and Kureno talk about the future. Yuki and Kyo fight, finally telling one another how they truly feel about each other. Kyo visits his father, who is cruel to him, blaming him for his mother's death. In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Giana and Chika review episodes fifty-four through fifty-six of Fruits Basket (2019)! In episode fifty-four, Rin is missing, causing concern among the younger zodiacs. Hiro tearfully tells Hatsuharu and Kisa the truth about why Akito hurt Rin and Kisa. As a result, Haru confronts Akito. Kureno has Rin taken to the hospital, where she later escapes, and collapses on the street. Haru comes to her aid. In episode fifty-five, Momiji has a growth spurt that takes everyone by surprise. He urges Kyo to not give up on Tohru, or else he might swoop in. Suddenly, in the middle of the night, Momiji's bond severs, bringing his future into his own hands for the first time. In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Giana and Chika review episodes ten through thirteen of My Love Story with Yamada Kun at Lv999! They also interview voice actress Abby Trott, who played the role of Akane in the show! In episode ten, Tsubaki thinks about how she held back her feelings for Yamada, and worries about losing him to Akane. Meanwhile, Yamada goes above and beyond to take care of Akane while she's ill, and she reflects on how safe she feels with him. In episode eleven, Akane meets Tsubaki in Forest of Savior, and the two struggle against a low level boss, with no help from Eita, who sits on the sidelines and watches. Akane meets Momo at a cafe to seek advice from her about what she might need to improve upon before falling in love again. Eita rescues Momo and Akane at the cafe he works at from being bothered by two creepy guys. The  episode ends as Akane asks Eita to speak with her. In episode twelve, Eita and Momo convince Akane to confess her feelings to Yamada, which doesn't go as planned. After his night class, Tsubaki accidentally blurts out a confession to Yamada. In episode thirteen, Yamada gives an answer to Tsubaki. Mr. Kamota invites the guild members out to dinner, where Akane gets drunk on expensive sake. At school, Yamada is asked to work on his class's cultural festival committee. In episode eight, Akane, Eita, Runa, and Kamota all attend Yamada's school's cultural festival. Runa's social anxiety gives her a stomachache, landing her in the infirmary for the day. Girls at Yamada's school glare at Akane as she walks with Yamada, and Eita suggests they actually start dating. Embarrassed, Akane storms off at the notion, but Yamada follows her. In episode nine, Yamada's classmate, Tsubaki, joins the guild, much to Runa's chagrin. Tsubaki seems to have a crush on Yamada. Working overtime causes Akane to come down with an intense fever. In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Giana and Chika review episodes four through six of My Love Story with Yamada Kun at Lv999! In episode four, Runa, Eita's younger sister, is abrasive and rude toward Akane at the Forest of Savior guild meetup. After parting ways, Runa personally reaches out to Akane, seemingly to extend an olive branch, and makes plans with her for that upcoming Saturday. In episode five, Runa fails to show up to a restaurant to spend time with Akane, but instead sends a Rurihime superfan to go in her stead, all the while convincing that superfan that Akane was Rurihime. This results in this middle-aged man coming on very strong, and Akane attempting to escape, but he goes so far as to follow her into the bathroom. Eventually, Yamada figures out what was going on, and he, Eita, Runa, and Mr. Kamota all go to rescue Akane from the situation. In episode six, Akane's computer suddenly short circuits, preventing her from gaming.
