With more than twenty years of experience in the Mosaic Art Industry and a graduate from the beautiful Scuola Mosaicista del Friuli in Spilimbergo Italy. It is time for a new mosaic adventure... I have created this podcast to reach out to the general public and inform them how this mosaic medium of art form has conquered millions of hearts. From ancient to modern mosaics this podcast will interview scholars, mosaic artist, architects, designers, institutions about public art and of course comment on how the mosaic world is changing day by day with these new materials.     EPISODE 8 I speak with Painter & Mosaic Muralist Hector Hernandez from Portland, Oregon about the transition from being a Muralist painter from Mexico to creating beautiful Mosaic Murals in Portland, Oregon. Hector H. Hernandez received his MFA from the University of Oregon in 1999 in painting and holds a MIS in Art and Education, a degree in Anthropology and a BFA. He has studied art in Japan and worked as an illustrator. Mr. Hernandez has produced murals and other artworks throughout communities and educational institutions in Oregon since 1995. Permanent exhibition murals are located at the OSU Memorial Union, Portland Community College (Rock Creek Campus), Portland State University, as well as Independence High School, Canby School Districts, Parks and Recreations among others. Currently Mr. Hernandez is working on a community mural project for the "Cipriano Ferrel Education Center in Woodburn as well as he completed other mural projects in Salem Oregon. Mr. Hernandez has executed murals for clinics, health center such as the Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center. Among the subjects and themes reflected in his murals are the community involvement on issues such as environment, education, multiculturalism, and social change. Mr. Hernandez has showed his works in numerous galleries across Oregon, Japan and Mexico. He also gives lectures and seminars in cross-cultural awareness and communication, health education, ethnic studies and the art and culture of Mexico.     EPISODE 7 I speak with Mosaic Artist Dianne Sonnenberg from Austin, Texas about her transition to Public Art with over 19 years of mosaic experience. Talks about how it feels like to have completed a Mosaic Mural for the Houston Hospital and how she prepared for it. With global mosaic credentials that go back all the way to 2003 in the mosaic art community. Born in Toronto, Canada but she currently creates mosaics in Austin Texas where she has been involved in the Texas Society of Sculptors and the Austin Mosaic Guild. She considers herself as a guide to inspire others to discover and their inner knowledge through teaching, commissions, collaborate projects, and exhibitions. She is a faculty member at the contemporary Austin Art School at Laguna Gloria, a past director at the Austin School for Mosaic Art in 2017-2019 and not only that, she is also a current instructor at Mosaic Arts Online. Her work has attracted international attention through numerous awards and conferences, including “best Architectural Mosaic” at the 2010 Mosaic Arts International Exhibit in Chicago , Illinois and her 2017 participation in the prestigious Clauiano Mosaic Symposium in Clauino Italy as one of nine selected international artist. He also did graduate School in Psychology and spent most of his career working in the special education field. He currently has his mosaic studio from his residence in San Antonio were he teaches and creates very original mosaic art pieces with ceramics and beautiful glass. He is also known for his wonderful mosaic mandalas and his unique style.
