On the My Digital Doorstep Podcast I (Dan) talk to the people behind the business posts that turn up in the social feed that we use to promote our own small events company, Bounceagogo. Scratching beneath the surface of these posts we are able tell the fantastic stories of the everyday people settin…
Daniel Mark Haynes: Podcaster and Small Business Owner
Two years after my first interview With Pia I catch up with her during the COVID 19 Lockdown. In this interview, we discuss where she is at with her business, how she coped when lockdown became real and the preparation she has made for her business for the post lockdown world. Genuinely really enjoyed catching up with Pia and she packs a whole lot value into this catch-up. Check out Pia's company website Worst of All Design. You can also catch Pia on twitter @PiaLovesYourBiz and on IG @pialovesyourbiz
This week I sit down with Mat from Prima Fitness based in Kingston upon Thames. The biggest take away from this interview is Mat's attitude towards the lockdown, how he's coped with it and how he sees him and his business coming out the other side. This is notwithstanding his career as a very successful professional ballet dancer before his life in fitness and personal training. Although Mat's personal training studio is new and the doors to it opened only weeks before lockdown once you've listened to Mat I'm sure you will agree that the future is very bright for him and his business! Check out the Prima Fitness site or catch Mat on Instagram @prima.fitness
This week I sit down with Rachel Kenning the owner and founder of Top Bop, funky jazz dance classes. What I liked about talking to Rachel was that there was allot similarities between her journey and our journey with Bounceagogo. This is definitely an interesting insight into the hurdles faced when setting up and running a small business (not least dealing with COVID). You can follow Rachel @bop_top on twitter and @top_bop on Instagram. You can also check out the Top Bop site at www.topbop.co.uk You can get this and all other episodes at the show's website. This week I sit down with Sandra Strachan (AKA Lady Wimbledon) the founder and owner of Bombshell Consulting, a digital media agency based in Wimbledon, London. This the second interview that I have now done with Sandra. In comparison, this is a complete contrast to that last time we spoke. During this time of lockdown, life is completely different for us all. As such, it has been great to catch up with her to see how she has been coping and getting her take on the state of digital media and how marketing may well change post covid. I really admired and respected Sandra before this interview and all this interview did enhance my view of her! You can follow Sandra Twitter @eyesofladyw, or use the hashtag #LadyWimbledon or Instagram @eyesofladywimbledon Also, check out Bombshell Consulting and the Lady Wimbledon site! It was an absolute privilege to sit down with Jaco and start to get an insight into what he has achieved as a mountaineer, polar explorer as well in his corporate career. What is really clear after talking with him is that Jaco really does know how to set a goal and then go after it. You know the interview has gone well when after an hour and a half you know you have to respect your guests time and start to wind it up but you still have so much that you want to ask them. Luckily, Jaco will be back in six and then 12 months follow up. This is the second recording that I have done with Susie. The first one we did about 9 months ago and for one reason and another we didn't ahead with this one, however, I am really glad we got one in the can again. Sue is the author of the So Happy In Town (S.H.I.T.) blog and the creator of the S.H.I.T. Tee campaign. This campaign, with really clever use of language, raises the mental health issue in young people as well as raising thousands of pounds for the @youngmindsuk Susie really has created something special in the S.H.I.T. campaign. As such I'm really happy that we finally managed to get a recording for release. With Susie, as with everyone who comes on the show, it was a privilege to talk to her and getting behind her great looking post and finding out about the person behind the content. You can catch Susie on all the socials @sohappyintown and you can check out the blog at www.sohappyintown.com Remember you can support the show by going to www.patreon.com/mydigitaldoorstep.co.uk Facebook.com/mydigitaldoorstep IG @mydigitaldoorstep Twitter @doorstep_my
Sophie East-Scopes first started to turn up in the Bounceagogo feeds about 12 months and I've always liked the vibe that underpinned her content so it was great to get on the show and start to find out who the person was behind the content. Sophie is a Virtual Assistant, and at first, I wanted to find out exactly what a virtual assistant was. It was a funny point in the interview when she describes how she had to google what a virtual assistant was. Once she realised what it actually was she realised that it was a great fit with her skill set and her Business Studies degree. Although she is a VA work, she has a focus on social media. However, it seems she can (and does) do just about anything that a small business owner is struggling to get done or fit in. It was great meeting Sophie and finally start to get to know the person behind the content. In today's show, I speak to the fabulous Sarah Baker. Sarah owns social media, PR business down in Bath in the SW of Engutting land. Initially, Sarah's great content drew me in to want to find out more about her and her story. In recent years Sarah's story has been characterised with a Cancer diagnosis and her fight back to health. I don't normally put episodes out on a Tuesday but I wanted to get this one out as soon as I could. In light of how the world feels a little like it has fallen apart for many due Corona Virus Pandemic, Sarah has had to deal with her world falling apart and then putting it and her health back together again. In the first full episode back I speak to Georgie Tanner, a professional organiser. I talk to Georgie about how this new career came about as when I first met her she was a customer of ours at www.bounceagogo.co.uk and had a great career at the home office. It was genuinely lovely talking Georgie as she has seen Bouncegogo from very nearly the start right up until the present day. She has supported us, so it's great to show our support for her by getting her on the show early in her new career. Plus, rather selfishly, its good to get on in the early days of her new career as I really believe she is really going places! This week I sit down with Helen Dukes the owner and co-founder of Disko Kids. I first came across Disko Kids on the Bounceagogo Instagram feed about 2 years ago. The Disko Kids products are retro 70's early 80's in feel with Disco, Pop orientated prints on Tees, Sweatshirts as well as framed prints. The images that Helen posts of her product range are really clean and cool. It was really lovely to get behind these posts and talk to Helen and find out she was as cool as her product range. Most lovely was to find out about Disko Kids link to charity. I really enjoyed talking with Helen and hope you enjoy getting behind the posts and finding out just a little more about Helen Dukes and the fabulous Disko Kids brand! Find out more about Disko Kids by going to www.diskokids.co.uk Check out Disko Kids on Instagram also @diskokids

Becca's journey through the London College of Fashion, one of the worlds fore most fashion schools, as young Mum to her newly born baby daughter is inspiration in its self and as such Becca is a great example of what My Digital Doorstep is all about. This week I talk with Marat Szelest. Marta is a Polish Canadian Gym owner based in Kitchener Ontario. Marta only turned up in the Bounceagogo social feeds recently promoting all that she does in and around her gym. What has been clear from the start is the emphasis that Marta places of Head first Body second approach and that how we feel about and see ourselves is at least equally, if not more important than working on the body alone. We talk about how she came to make this realisation, her business in general and how that sits within a political context on both side of the Atlantic (for both of us). I really enjoyed meeting and speaking with Marta and really looking forward to seeing how she and her business develops over the next 6 months and beyond. You can catch Marta on Instagram, Facebook and on her website and if you do speak to her, tell her to get podcast started soon!!
This week I speak to London based Painter and illustrator Paulina Kwietniewska. The reason she was asked to come on the show was is that the paintings and illustrations she has put up on her instagram feed (that have shown up in the Bounceagogo feed) are beautiful. This is the first time I have interviewed someone based on the fact that the work they have produced and posted up is aesthetically pleasing. Paulina has been featured in Vogue and it easy to see why. We talk about her living in London, how and why she became an artist but what is interesting is to hear is just how business savvy she is. What has been really great about speaking to Paulina is that our conversation has been further validation of the whole ethos of My Digital Doorstep. Genuine great information, inspiration and motivation is literally all on our (Digital) Doorsteps!
This week I talk to Pia Silva, New York Native, Co-owner/founder of Worst of All Design, Author of Badass Your Brand, Forbes Contributor and Small to Medium Size Business Branding expert. I kid you not, this lady really knows her stuff! The importance for me of talking to Pia is that along with Abigails Party, The Talented Ladies Club and Lady Wimbledon was that all of these women were a big part of the inspiration for me starting My Digital Doorstep. The great thing is, like all my guests to date is that she really does not disappoint. Her knowledge of her craft (Branding) is evident, helping me (and I hope you) get a stronger handle on the whole concept of Branding! We also talk about the process of how she went about launching her book 'Badass Your Brand'. This turned out to be lesson in setting your sight on something and putting thoughts into real measurable action. I really enjoyed doing this interview and I hope you enjoy listening to it! You can catch Pia on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram You can also go to her website as well as have follow her blog on Forbes! You can also catch me on Twitter as well as support the show via our Patreon page!
About 18 months ago myself and Don's paths crossed on line (via Facebook) because of a share interest in the sport of power lifting. Through his posts I was able to follow his journey to his participation in the London Power Lifting Championship where he place 3rd in the 83kg weight class (A real achievement). But also through his posts I was able to see him develop an on-line coaching/fitness business, personal development work and start to grow as a public speaker. Speaking with Don was absolute proof of what this podcast is all about. Great information, motivation and inspiration is all around us as it literally turns up everyday in our various news feeds or as I like to call it, our Digital Doorstep! This week I had the pleasure of meeting for the first time and interviewing Michelle Weinstein 'The Pitch Queen'. Michelle's posts had only recently turned up in the Bounceagogo social feeds but the strong branding of her both her and her podcast 'Success Unfiltered' very quickly wanted to find out what her journey was behind such great looking content. What was great about talking with Michelle was the I was not disappointed by finding out about her business and her journey as a an entrepreneur. She's the first Shark Tank guest we've had on the show. In talking to her we get an insight into skill around the process of selling and the sales process. A genuinely interesting person to talk to so sit back and enjoy! You and reach Michelle via her website and also via Facebook as well as twitter
It was a genuine pleasure have the opportunity to talk to Stuart about his journey to becoming the highly respected make up and special effects artist that he is. Don't just take my word for it, follow the link to see his list of impressive film credits . But this interview is not just about Stuart's skill as a make up artist. Follow him on any of his social channels and his skill is there for everyone to see. But this interview is about outlining the narrative of Stuart making the transition from predominantly working on film sets to teaching his craft. This is an interesting journey as there is obviously no loss of love for his craft, but over time there has been a growing love around teaching the next generation of people looking to grow their skills in FX's and make up! A really interesting journey and a really interesting conversation and man. This interview has further confirmed the fact that as we go through the daily process of engaging with the various social platforms, we really surrounded by just so many interesting stories and people. All on our (Digital) Doorstep! You can follow Stuart on the channels below but I do recommend you have a look at Stuart's Youtube channel. 43 video's and 34,401 followers. In this bonus episode I get to talk to Dan Goaillard again and finish off the episode we started last week after the local authority managed to dig up the internet cables outside of his house. Even though there has been a break in the recording of the interview Dan looses none of his flow or enthusiasm in talking about the challenges faced in the early day of the development of his company DS Water. Dan is an impressive young entrepreneur with a very bright future. Carry on getting to know Dan and you'll be able to say 'I (sort of) knew when he was starting out'. In this weeks interview we meet Dan Goaillard the founder and owner of DS Water. Dan is someone I have wanted to get on the show from the start. He is one of those rare people that has the ability to draw people towards him. Not in salesy type way but more because he is a good soul. Now, Dan is someone who I knew before he turn up on My Digital Doorstep. He is someone I used to play Rugby with but since he started up his business DS Water, a water treatment company it has been impossible to keep up with face to face because he is just so busy. DS Water has really taken off. Knowing what he has been up to has been done in the main via Facebook and Instagram updates which why default he is on show. We are blighted in the show by the fact that at Dan's end, due to the pavement being dug up outside his house the internet cables to his street were cut and so through no fault of our own the show is cut short (1 hour 10 mins approx). However, after a couple of days the connection was restored and we recorded the second half of the interview. This will be released as a bonus episode in the next few days. Remember, you can support the show with a donation to the shows Patreon page. Go to www.patreon.com/mydigitaldoorstep You can also contact the show via Twitter. In this Preview to the My Digital Doorstep podcast we find out how the 2016 Brexit vote and the Trump Presidential Campaign made social media a miserable place to be. But more specifically how this negativity helped the shows creator, Dan Haynes suspect that there was great positivity and inspiration behind the business post that were showing up in the social feeds that he was using to promote his own small events comapany amid all the seeming doom and gloom. And as it turns out there was and is great inspiration and motivation behind these posts. Get ready for the start of My Digital Doorstep podcast and find out about normal people telling fanstic stories about their business journey; stories that turn up in Dan's and all of our social feeds daily. Its all on your (Digital) Doorstep! Don't forget to subscribe to the show!
