We wrapped up 2021 with a bang! Brad Cooper, our lead pastor, came and shared a word with us on being a Christian vs being a Disciple. The last 18 months have really exposed a lot. One of those things is if we are truly a disciple of Jesus or were we just going through the motions. It's a simple question that has a major impact. We hope you are challenged and encouraged by this word! If you don't follow us on social, let's change that! Connect with us on Instagram @newspringrally to stay in the know! "Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh, I am filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church, of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known, the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. To them, God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me." Colossians 1:24-29This week, we tackled the question, "Where is our faith going?" and Fin Sheridan gave an incredible message on pursuing maturity in our relationship with Christ. We hope you will give it a listen and join us in the conversation! If you want to connect to Rally at a campus, text RALLY to 30303. If you aren't following us on social, let's change that! So many times we can get caught up in the ways of the world and lose sight of Jesus. We can get so focused on trying to build a life that looks like we follow Jesus and never actually follow him. We want to move from a group of young adults who just believe Jesus is real to living like He is. This month at Rally we are talking about why we pursue the ways of Jesus. Catch up on the gathering from this month and join the conversation!
“We work as a part of God's grand plan to redeem and restore the world.” – Jonathan ShoultzThis week, Tayla gets to sit down with two of her friends, Jonathan and Whitney Shoultz, to talk about ways that they have been a faithful witness in the workplace. For Jonathan and Whitney, it has been a years-long process to be an effective witness in the workplace. Jonathan, who works as an OBGYN in Greenville, encounters people that are different from him every day. He must walk the fine line between working hard for the glory of God and working for the validation of other people. For Whitney, who once worked at Newspring but now is a full-time mom, she must wake up every day and choose to be satisfied in him.How do I share the gospel to people that don't believe like me? How do I work hard without burnout? How do I avoid a midlife crisis? Join us this week as we discuss how to best make disciples (something all Christians are called to), how to find satisfaction in Christ, and how we are to live in our world which is Babylon.Follow us on Instagram @NewspringRally for more information about our ministry and how to get connected!
This week we heard from our Clemson Rally Director, Glenn Batson on how to pursue the people around us. He reminded us that we are all ministers with different assignments. God has called us to love and pursue people, no matter where we are.
“To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, so that I may share in its blessings.”—1 Corinthians 9:22-23“If there is a secret agenda about trying to reach someone, then that means you don't believe in the supernatural power that God has and that the burden is all on me… I'm supposed to simply love people.”This week, we get a chance to listen to Josh Bull and Josh DeLaCruz as they talk about why we must reach people and how we are to practically do so.DeLaCruz grew up in Orlando in a Christian home but turned away from the church in middle school and ran from God until he was arrested and heard from God while sitting in jail waiting for bail. Through the love of Christian friends, he returned to the church and grew in his relationship with Jesus. He later stepped on staff at a church in Florida and now works on staff as the Rally Director in Myrtle Beach. In this episode, DeLaCruz draws out the difference between simply loving people to plant seeds and working with a secret agenda to convert people. “If there is a secret agenda about trying to reach someone,” says DeLaCruz, “then that means you don't believe in the supernatural power that God has and that the burden is all on me… I'm supposed to simply love people.” We must simply love and reach the lost and then equip the found to go out and do ministry. How are we supposed to love people we disagree with? How do we interact with people of different religions and those in the gay community? How are we to relate discipleship and evangelism? Join us as we discuss Christ-like love, generosity with time, and trusting God to change hearts.Follow us on Instagram @NewspringRally for more information about our ministry and how to get connected!
We kicked off the start of October by talking about what it means to pursue people. We believe if it's God's heart to love people, it should be ours too.
This month at Rally, we've been talking about pursuing the presence of God. This week, Josh taught on how the presence of God is good and we can find Him no matter where we are.
In this Roundtable, we sit down with Jon McDerement and talk through de-mystifying the definition of prophecy and practical steps to incorporate it into our everyday lives. Jon has been on staff at NewSpring for many years and is spearheading a lot of the education around the Holy Spirit for our staff and church!
In this episode, we sit down with Sam Gibson, our Florence campus pastor, and talk through the beautiful truth that God genuinely wants to meet with us every day. We talk through his story and all that God has done for him. We also talk through how to practice meeting with God no matter where we are. We believe this episode will stir your desire to meet with God and begin going deeper in your relationship with Him.
This week at our Rally Gathering, Dan Lian taught the importance of prioritizing the presence of God in our lives. We were made for the presence of God and God made a way to be with us here on earth through Jesus!
The world feels dark and confusing. With so much going on and so much tension in the air, it can feel really hard to follow Jesus. Last night, Josh talked through how we can hold onto faith in such dark times.
“Prayer is the thing of spiritual giants, and you were made for that!”In this episode, Lee commends us to persevere in prayer. Prayer is not easy and it will take time for fruit to come, but we were not made for the easy. The end goal of prayer is not prayer or to see prayers answered but to grow in friendship with God.
“It's not about being ‘good at prayer.' The people who are really warriors at prayer are set apart because they just keep praying.”In this episode, Lee jumps into some practical applications for prayer in our everyday lives. We want to set up a sacred space where we will meet with God daily, read the Bible, and journal. There is always a risk when hearing from God, so we must know his word and heart.
“Jesus went to the cross to kick open the door of access for us, so we can go with boldness and confidence to ask God for things.”In this episode, Lee walks through Jesus' example of prayer within the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6 and Luke 11. This prayer gives us an easy formula for us to pray using an easy acronym: Pause, Rejoice, Ask, and Yield.
“God, I want to exchange everything that I desire with everything that you desire”In this episode, Lee points out that the bible is unique in it's picture of God as someone who loved us so much that he sent Jesus to burst open a way for us to be in friendship with God. He discusses one of the Greek words used for prayer, Proseuchomai, which can be understood as an expression of desires (euchomai) towards (pros) God and him replacing that with his desires and wants.
Welcome to season 3 of the Rally Roundtables! We're doing this Roundtable a little differently! We usually have a topical discussion around a table with people we love, but we wanted to try something new! This week, Lee is talking us through prayer and its importance in our walk with Jesus. Instead of a longer conversation, we will be releasing 5 shorter videos daily. We hope this conversation blesses you and encourages you to take a step into the gift of prayer. If you want to connect to Rally at a campus near you, text RALLY to 30303. “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” – Galatians 5:1“Juneteenth is a celebration of Freedom. Anytime we have an opportunity to celebrate Freedom is an opportunity to celebrate Jesus because that is who he is and that is what he does—Jesus breaks chains.” – Whitney Sullivan, member at Newspring since 2013This week, we are joined by Hykeng Paul, Josh Charles, Jayla Jones, and Whitney Sullivan to discuss the importance of celebrating Juneteenth both as citizens of the United States as well as citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven. Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration of the liberation of African Americans from chattel slavery in the United States. June 19th marks the day in which Major General Gordon Granger led Union troops to Galveston, Texas where the last slaves stepped into freedom nearly 2 ½ years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed into law. For many, Juneteenth can seem to be a holiday just for the African American community. In reality, it is a celebration for all people. Why should we as Christians celebrate Juneteenth? How can people who are not black celebrate the holiday? Join us as this week as we discuss the history, the importance, and the spiritual impact of Juneteenth.Follow us on Instagram @NewspringRally for more information about our ministry and how to get connected!

“Boundaries are not about avoiding sex; they are about protecting intimacy.” – Tayla BullAustin Duffey, the Fuse and Rally Director in Anderson, sits down this week with Tayla Bull and Hykeng Paul to talk about the importance of boundaries within dating relationships. Everyone has a different story when it comes to boundaries and it is no different on the podcast today. Tayla dated her now-husband Josh throughout high school and both made it a point from the beginning that they wanted to save sex for marriage. On the other end, like many of us, Hykeng came into his marriage with a lot of baggage from his past but when he started dating his wife, Corine, they decided that they were still going to fight for purity. There is nothing that can't be redeemed by God.Why should we set up boundaries in our relationships? How far is too far? How should we operate within our dating relationships? Join us this week as our guests talk about how to set up boundaries despite making mistakes, how boundaries lead to freedom and being released from enslavement to sin. “Before you ask, ‘Am I serious about this person?' you need to ask yourself, ‘Am I serious about my relationship with God?'” – Tara CummingsJosh and Tayla Bull sit down with their friends Riley and Tara Cummings who have been married for nearly 7 years with two awesome boys. In this convo, they talk about the right way to go about dating as a follower of Jesus. From the outset, Tara says that dating, at its most fundamental level, is two people building a relationship together and learning more about each other that eventually leads to marriage. Riley doubles down on that and says that if you can't see yourself marrying the person you are dating or interested in, you shouldn't be dating them because the point of dating is to find someone you would want to spend the rest of your life with. What, then, should we be looking for in a dating relationship? What habits should we set up with our boyfriend or girlfriend to build not only a healthy dating relationship but a good friendship with them? Join us this week as our guests talk about how they set up boundaries when to start and end a relationship, and the utmost importance of dating within a community that will challenge you and helps you grow.Follow us on Instagram @NewspringRally for more information and to get connected!
