Learning Lifestyle Evangelism from 1 Peter In the episode of the Bible in Life podcast, John and Steven reflect on 1 Peter and what it teaches about lifestyle evangelism. Two key Bible passages from 1 Peter in this episode are: 1 Peter 3:14-15 - Always be ready to give an answer 14 But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear their intimidation, and do not be in dread, 15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, but with gentleness and respect; 1 Peter 2:9-10 - A Royal Priesthood 9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. Send us a messageIn 2 Peter, a glorious description is given of the Lord's “born again” offspringwho through His Blood Atonement Sacrifice on their behalf, have become “new creations” in Christ Jesus the Lord. They are His Blood-Bought redeemed ones who have been transferred from the realm of sin and darkness – and into God's Majestic Kingdom of Love, Life, and Eternal Life.In verses 9-10 it is written: “But you are a Chosen Race, a Royal Priesthood, A Holy Nation, a People for God's Own Possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him Who has called you out of darkness, and into His Marvelous Light.”Being reminded of our new divine nature that has been imputed to us in glorious Resurrection Power, underscores the necessity of our being separate from the world. And as the End of the Age draws nearer and the Rapture of God's redeemed one nearer still – that separation is becoming more pronounced. It is time to awaken – and Shine – for we are the only Light the darkened world has and we will be leaving soon!Support the showVisit our website: https://agapelightministries.com/

What does it mean to be a chosen generation? Are you walking in your divine purpose? In this powerful message, Pastor Donnie McClurkin reminds us that we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, and a holy nation (1 Peter 2:9), called to represent God's kingdom beyond earthly boundaries. Drawing from Joel 2:25, he reassures us that God will restore everything the enemy has stolen, providing for His people even in the face of trials. Pastor McClurkin also emphasizes the importance of generational unity, urging the younger generation to embrace their divine assignments while the older generation steps up to mentor and guide. Above all, he calls believers to prepare for the return of Jesus Christ by living holy lives and fulfilling their God-given purpose. The Royal Priesthood Pastor David Craig
Neale Sheneman preaches from 1 Peter 2 and shares four ways we should steward the Royal Priesthood that Jesus has called us into.
What if you're not just called — but chosen for something greater? This Sunday, Pastor Josh shared his message, "A Royal Priesthood: Built Together, Set Apart," unpacking how 1 Peter 2 reveals our true identity as living stones, being built into a spiritual house for God's glory. We aren't meant to blend in — we are a royal priesthood, set apart to minister to God, offer our lives as sacrifices, and proclaim who He is to the world. This isn't just a title — it's a calling to live radically different, reflecting Jesus in everything we do. Recorded at Hope Church in Springfield, MO.
In the middle of our series on Spiritual Gifts, Josh takes a step back to build additional context. He starts with a look at the organizing of creation with humanity playing the role of Royal Priests. He traces the Royal Priesthood concept from Creation, through the nation of Israel, to the example of Jesus and then to the Church. Then he lays out the organizing of the Church into sacraments, disciplines and gifts. This includes a more detailed look at the gifts of Helps & Mercy. Josh closes with three options for the organization of you and a call to go forth and change the world.
In this sermon on 1 Peter 2:9, Dave Rich emphasizes the Christian's identity and calling to proclaim His excellencies. He explains that believers are a chosen family, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a people for God's own possession. This new identity empowers and obligates believers to proclaim His excellence in word and deed. Rich reminds us that who we are in Christ determines what we do for Christ. ★ Support this podcast ★
A Royal Priesthood: Part 5
The past few weeks, we have been looking at the Aaronic Blessing found in Numbers 6. This Sunday, we explored the next part of the blessing - "May the Lord be gracious to you" and what it meant for those who heard it first and what it means for us today.
Send us a textIn this episode we are covering 1 Peter 2:13-25. In these verses Peter describes to us how we should treat people in authority and why. This is both a challenging conversation and an empowering one as well, as we look into the impact we can make on others through our honor of the Lord.Link to Bible Project video: The Royal Priesthood, episode 6https://bibleproject.com/explore/vide...Link to Bible Project series on The Royal Priesthoodhttps://bibleproject.com/explore/cate...Questions for verses 13-17vs 13-14 - “For the Lord's sake, submit to all human authority”Submitting to people who treat us bad, is hard. Sometimes, however, we just don't want to do what we're told. Peter says - do it to honor the Lord. How do you handle authority figures, good or bad?vs 15 - God's desire is that we live with such honor that the things people say about us fall flat because there is no truth in them. When we hear that someone is talking about us, our minds race, thinking about the things we've said and done that could come out. Peter says - find freedom, live above that, live with honor.vs 16 - You're free and yet you're a slave? God's love set us free from our sin; but if our love for Him is sincere, then our commitment will be to live in honor to Himvs 17 - Respect, love, fear (used in the sense of honor & respect) These are things that build healthy relationships. In a culture that wants these things from others, but doesn't value these virtues for themselves, Peter calls us to set the example. What challenges do these verses present to you?Questions for verses 18-25Vs 18-19 - The word “slaves” in their culture would include “boss” in ours. How do you handle a bad boss, a bad professor, or coach?God is pleased when we endure unjust treatment. What are some situations that could apply to you?vs 20 - It's easy to justify our own mistakes. To want others to treat us according to our intentions, instead of our actions. There's no room to be upset with the results of our actions. What are some examples: late homework, forgot to call, lied about something, didn't show up for work or class, ect…How do you handle those situations? Do you own it?vs 21-25 - God is not asking us to do something He wouldn't, didn't do. Jesus is our example for all of this. Most of us are just trying to not get caught for what we're doing wrong. Are you willing to do good even if you have to suffer for it?What does Jesus' example inspire you to do?Thank you for listening to the One Loud Voice podcast. Peter tells us as followers of Jesus that we should be real. Love people the way we want to be loved! Can you think of someone who made a huge impact on you because their love was real? What can we learn from their example?vs 23-25 - Peter compares our temporary life on this earth, to our new life with God, that is eternal. How do you value things in your life that are temporary vs things that can't be replaced?Peter tells us that it was through “the living and enduring Word of God” that we were given this new life. What value should we place on God's Word?Questions part 2:Chapter 2 vs 1 - Peter tells us to get rid of all the wrong ways that we have lived and treated people. Be done with them! What are some new ways to act and treat people?vs 2 & 3 - Peter tells us to crave more of God's word because we've only tasted His kindness! We all know what it's like to taste something good when we are really hungry. It makes us want more! God wants to reveal more to us, He wants us to taste more of His goodness. Are you willing to spend time in His word to “grow into the full experience of your salvation”? (vs 2)Questions part 3:vs 4-5 - Peter paints a word picture of the temple, the place where God's presence dwells. But we are the stones that make the temple and inhabit God's presence. He also calls us priests, representatives of God to the world. This is a great time to watch the Bible Project video…What new ways of thinking about your purpose does this open up to you? How could God use you to share His goodness and presence with the world?vs 6-8 - Peter explains the role of Jesus as the cornerstone and foundation of our faith. He also explains how the Jewish leaders rejected Jesus and became offended.People in our day reject Jesus and are offended as well. Jesus is full of grace and love, but He is also full of truth. Not everyone wants the truth.vs 9-10 - God has called us out of darkness into light, and He shows us mercy. When the light comes on, we see things we didn't see. What are some things you used to think were ok, but now you realize how destructive and bad they are? What things from your past do you see now that cause you to realize God's mercy in your life?vs 11-12 - Peter warns us to stay away from the things that can draw us back to our old life. What are some things we can do to avoid temptation? Can you ask someone to help you with that?Thank you for listening to the One Loud Voice podcast. The past few weeks we have been exploring the oldest known piece of Scripture - a 3,000 year old passage from Numbers 6 called the Aaronic or Priestly Blessing. This week, we specifically looked at the third part, "May the Lord smile on you", and learned what it means for us and what we should do with it.
Last week, we learned that we, as the church, are considered the new Royal Priesthood by God. We read and received the blessing that God gave to Aaron, the first High Priest of Israel and the brother of Moses. This week, we focused on the words “And Protect You” and what it means in our lives and those around us today.
Last week we shared we believe God has revealed this will be a year of Perfect Peace, and the first step on the journey to that peace is understanding what God has spoken over us. Over the next few weeks, we are going to be exploring the Aaronic Blessing, the oldest Biblical text known to man, and the importance it has on our lives today.
When Peter refers to followers of Jesus as chosen, royal, and holy he does not do so to merely make them feel good about themselves. He is helping them understand that salvation comes with a vocation. In fact, the two are inseparable. Being God's people, priesthood, and nation is a lifestyle and a full-time job. What would […]

Two thousand years ago, out of the fires of persecution and the blood of martyrs, arose the most diverse and dynamic family that the world has ever seen. Originally known as "The Way", this band of brothers and sisters discovered their true identity in their leader, Jesus of Nazareth, and after his death and resurrection, their movement multiplied exponentially as they welcomed men and women of every nation and race. Amidst this explosion, men like Simon Peter wrote letters to encourage other Christians as they faced pressure and hostility throughout the Roman Empire. Two millennia later, these letters continue to inspire followers of Christ in every corner of the world. Join The Story Church as we explore the letter known as 1 Peter on Sundays this fall (August 18-October 20) to discover our true identity and purpose together.
