Tayla Cannon is an Australian physiotherapist, rehabilitation coach, athlete, and tech entrepreneur who has built her career around challenging conventional thinking in health and performance. After moving to the United States at just 24 years old, she pursued opportunities that combined healthcare, innovation, and entrepreneurship, eventually creating a new model of rehabilitation that integrates injury recovery directly into athletic training. With a background in competitive sport, CrossFit, strength and conditioning, and physiotherapy, Tayla has spent years working at the intersection of performance and recovery. Alongside her clinical work, she now leads a technology company while continuing to help athletes and everyday people overcome chronic pain and return to the activities they love. What shaped Tayla's philosophy was not simply education, but her own experience with chronic back pain. Despite being highly trained and physically capable, she found herself trapped in the same cycle that affects countless people: pain, fear, inactivity, and frustration. Rather than accepting traditional approaches, she began experimenting with movement variability, progressive exposure, and alternative rehabilitation strategies on herself. This journey led her to challenge many long-held beliefs around injury, spinal health, and rehabilitation. Throughout the conversation, she explains how fear often becomes as disabling as the injury itself, why pain is not always a sign of structural damage, and how the brain plays a critical role in both creating and resolving chronic pain. Her message is simple but powerful: movement is medicine, confidence can be rebuilt, and recovery often begins by teaching the brain that movement is safe again.A major focus of Tayla's work today is bridging the gap between rehabilitation and performance. Rather than separating injury recovery from training, she integrates them into a single process that allows people to continue exercising while rebuilding strength, capacity, and confidence. We discuss the evolution of physiotherapy, the importance of load and movement over passive treatments, fascial slings, bracing, movement variability, and why many traditional rehabilitation models fail active people. She also shares insights on resilience, stepping outside comfort zones, the cultural differences between Australia and America, and why maintaining cardiovascular fitness, movement diversity, and lifelong athleticism is essential for long-term health. At its core, Tayla's work is about empowering people to move better, recover smarter, and build bodies capable of thriving well beyond injury.

This mix avoids the modern drum & bass obsession with immediate payoff. No giant engineered drops every thirty seconds. No transitions screaming for attention. The tracks move with more confidence than that. Sometimes nothing major happens for nearly a full minute. The older jungle records here sound beautifully worn-in — snares clipping slightly at the edges, tape hiss lingering behind the breakbeats, basslines present without flattening everything around them. A few transitions arrive so gradually you only notice them after the previous track has already disappeared. Seba & MC Conrad open the set with a kind of emotional restraint electronic music rarely allows itself anymore. Not cold. Just patient. Tango, Omni Trio, Skanna, and T.Power still carry that peculiar 1990s vision of the future: metallic rhythms, distant synth fog, empty-city atmosphere, music that feels built for train stations at 2AM rather than festival main stages. What makes the mix work isn't nostalgia. It's pacing. Tracks are given enough room to become hypnotic before anything changes. Repetition isn't treated like a problem that needs solving. Tiny adjustments — a hi-hat entering quietly, a pad drifting upward in the background — suddenly matter more because the music leaves space around them. Furney and Tokyo Prose soften the tension without killing momentum. Blurred piano fragments, washed-out melodies, liquid textures that feel half-remembered rather than fully present. Then Jazzanova's “Coffee Talk” interrupts the flow completely, almost like stepping outside for air and realizing how quiet the night actually is before walking back into the club. Aquasky and Tayla & Artemis tighten the drums again later on, pushing the mix deeper into jungle territory without breaking its reflective mood, while Knowtoryus adds enough jazz phrasing to stop the atmosphere from turning emotionally distant. The older records weren't better simply because they came first. They just understood how to wait longer before demanding a reaction. This mix works best late at night. Headphones on. Lights low. Quiet enough to hear the hiss living underneath the drums. Seba & MC Conrad - Words 2B Heard Meets Planetary Funk Alert DJ Unknown Face & NKS - Dat's Cool Tango - Spellbound PHD & Conrad Feat. Sorry it's been so long between parts! In part 2 of our garments episode, we delve more into the modern aspect of the subject, including evolving attitudes of members and non-members alike.
In this episode, I'm joined by one of my favourite Australian actors, Natalie Abbott, who gives an inspiring performance in The Deb. I think everyone will find something they can relate to with her character Tayla considering the depth and complexities of the character. Also, anyone who's a fan of musicals in general are going to adore this film. There's so much to love about The Deb, and Natalie's performance here really brings the film to life. The Deb is a larger-than-life musical comedy directed by Rebel Wilson. The film follows Natalie Abbott's Taylah, a high school outcast in a rural town who sees the local debutante ball as her chance to shine. When her cynical, inner-city cousin Maeve (played by Charlotte MacInnes) is sent to live with her, the two clash but eventually unite, searching for self-acceptance, popularity, and a date to the ball Natalie is a performer who made her professional debut playing Muriel Heslop in Muriel's Wedding The Musical in 2019. The role saw Natalie nominated for a Helpmann Award and a Green Room Award. In 2020, Natalie made her television debut staring in the ABC series Aftertaste, playing opposite Erik Thomson and Rachel Griffiths, reprising her role in 2021 for season 2. Stick around at the end of this interview to find out about the future of Aftertaste if you're keen. Natalie can be seen most recently in the ABC' hit series, Austin S2. This is a much shorter episode than usual. As regular listeners know, I like to go much deeper with my Podcast interviews, but this one was recorded as part of a press junket for the film, and time is always limited with these things. Anyway... enjoy.

To unpack this, John Maytham is joined by Tayla du Plessis, Dietician at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa, who helps us understand why BMI can be misleading for some people, and where it still plays a useful role. Have you ever wondered why certain pains keep coming back no matter how much you stretch, rest or change your workouts? Sometimes the issue isn't the pain itself, but the way your body is trying to move without enough support. In this episode I sat down with a physiotherapist and rehab coach to talk about how strength and stability shift recurring aches, why hip control matters more than people realize, how your core holds you in everyday movement and why loaded mobility often creates more change than stretching alone. If you've been dealing with spots that keep acting up or you want to feel more supported when you train, you'll walk away with things that help right away. It's grounded and helps you make sense of what's been happening in your body.Tayla Cannon is the founder of Athletic Rebuild, a virtual approach that helps people move past quick relief and into strength that supports real-life movement. Host Will Rasmussen talks with Tayla Moeykens, first time NFR qualifier, on today's Roadshow.
Mitchell Bell is one of several Sydney based jockeys who regularly ply their trade on outside tracks. His manager Shaun Flaherty makes a point of committing Mitch to race meetings no further than three hours from his Windsor home. The hard working jockey is a regular at places like Scone, Muswellbrook, Newcastle, Goulburn, Bathurst, Orange and Mudgee. Mitchell's unwavering reliability has seen him build a strong support base among a wide range of trainers. The jockey says he's learned to handle the tedium of constant travel. Mitchell talks about the two hip replacement surgeries he's been forced to undergo in recent years. He says he never knew his grandfather Billy Bell who was a successful Sydney jockey in the 60's and 70's. Mitchell pays tribute to his father Steve who had a jockey's build but opted to pursue a career as a professional boxer- a career that led him to an Australian flyweight crown. Mitchell says his riding plans could have been thwarted when he was involved in a freak gymnasium accident at age 13. He looks back on his amazing recovery from serious hand injuries and early riding education at an Ingleburn riding school. The 40 year old talks about his apprenticeship to Tamworth trainer Mark Mason and an inauspicious first ride at Quirindi. He pays tribute to a former leading country jockey who became his tutor in Tamworth track gallops. Mitch hasn't forgotten the thrill of landing his first winner. He remembers the most minor detail about his initial metropolitan win on the historic stretches of Royal Randwick. The jockey acknowledges the first notable horse he got to ride after returning to Sydney as a fully fledged rider. Mitch plays tribute to the talented Artlee who gave him success in the Wild Card and Final of the 2015 Country Championship. He says Artlee was also the centrepiece of one of his biggest racing disappointments. Bell talks of a successful association with the Waller stable on outside tracks. He recalls a Newcastle win on Youngstar immediately before the filly went to Brisbane to win two important races. He rates another Waller trained horse as one of the best he's ridden. Mitch looks back on a black type Hawkesbury win on Cellarman. He talks about the strong association he's forged with Peter Snowden and a recent Newcastle treble for the stable. Mitchell speaks fondly of a strong association with legendary horseman Ron Quinton. He acknowledges the support of several other prominent stables. Mitch says he was greatly influenced by two special role models in the early part of his career. He doesn't take for granted the luxury he enjoys in being able to maintain a weight of 53kgs. The much travelled jockey says he's sometimes tempted by offers to ride in the city but is reluctant to inconvenience established country and provincial supporters. Today's guest is more than a hitmaker — she's a creative force who has shaped the sound of a generation. From penning chart-toppers like “Thank U, Next” (Ariana Grande), “High Hopes” (Panic! at the Disco), and “Love Lies” (Khalid & Normani) to building her own label, publishing company, and artist career, her story is a masterclass in reinvention, resilience, and longevity. And the writer is… Tayla Parx!In this episode, Tayla sits down with Ross to unpack how she's navigated more than a decade at the top of the music industry — from her start in Hairspray to writing with Babyface, to becoming one of the few Black women with a #1 country song. She opens up about:Surviving the pressures of back-to-back sessions and industry burnoutTurning setbacks into fuel for her artistry and business venturesWhy branding yourself as a songwriter matters as much as the songsThe art of staying relevant without chasing trendsHow to keep building a catalog that pays you for decades to comeFor every songwriter, artist, or creative grinding to build a career that lasts — this is the blueprint.

We often think of trauma as a deeply personal experience, shaped by our childhood, relationships, and emotional wounds. But what if some of our deepest pain didn't start with us? What if trauma is embedded in the very systems we're born into - our medical institutions, cultural ideologies, and societal norms? In today's episode, we're joined by Dr. Tayla Shanaye, somatic therapist, scholar, and expert in birth trauma and structural oppression. Tayla joins Elisabeth and Jennifer for a powerful exploration of how ideologies like white supremacy, patriarchy, and ableism don't just shape policies, they live in our bodies, shaping how we birth, connect, and heal. Together, they discuss the medicalization of childbirth, the systemic invalidation of birthing bodies, and how trauma is passed down generationally through embodied experiences. This episode invites us to look at birth as more than a physical event, it's a moment of transformation, a portal, and for many, a site of trauma that is rarely acknowledged. Tayla also shares deeply personal stories of pregnancy, birth, and healing, highlighting the need for preparation, integration, and community-based support to create a culture where somatic safety and agency are the norm. You'll hear how nervous system awareness, collective ritual, and somatic abolitionism can radically change how we relate to our bodies and to each other. If you've ever felt broken by birth, silenced in your experience, or curious about how deep healing begins at the structural level, this episode is for you. Topics discussed in this episode: ● The medicalization of birth and its traumatic impact ● Why trauma is systemic—not just personal ● How ideologies like racism and patriarchy are embodied ● The role of the nervous system in healing generational trauma ● Somatic healing and reclaiming bodily agency ● Historical roots of obstetric violence and experimentation ● The missing rituals of birth preparation and integration ● How voice, safety, and co-regulation shape our healing ● The vision of community-led, embodied care ● Why embodiment is key to creating real culture Ready to reclaim your voice, your safety, and your power? In this heartfelt conversation, they share their journey as a tribute band honoring their grandparents, revealing incredible behind-the-scenes stories, and personal anecdotes that highlight the legacy of Conway and Loretta. From their childhood memories to the challenges of touring, this episode is packed with laughter, nostalgia, and a deep appreciation for family and music.Discover how Tre and Tayla blend their own musical influences with the iconic sounds of their grandparents, hear about their new album, and even some of their hot takes on pop culture.Don't miss this chance to connect with the next generation of country music stars! If you enjoy the episode, please like, subscribe, and share your thoughts in the comments below.Listen to Unbroke: (https://ffm.to/seunbroke).About Tayla Lynn & Tre Twitty:There's a moment right at the very beginning of any Twitty & Lynn show that affords country music fans the chance to look back in time. Just after the band has played the signature intro to “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man,” Tre Twitty and Tayla Lynn shoot each other a glance that summons the electrifying chemistry of their grandparents: Tre is the grandson of Conway Twitty, Tayla is the granddaughter of Loretta Lynn.Audiences can't believe their eyes. From that moment, for the next 90 minutes, they're in the presence of living country music history. “Fans have told Tayla and me that when they see us onstage singing, talking, and just looking at each other, they think, ‘Wow, there must be something genetic in those two families,'” Tre says. “It validates the experience of the concert for them. We're telling our grandparents' story through our story.”But Twitty & Lynn — and their internationally popular show “A Salute to Conway & Loretta” — aren't impersonators. Tre doesn't groom Seventies sideburns and perm his hair; Tayla doesn't mimic her grandmother's mannerisms. Rather, they are onstage celebrating country music, the lost art of duet singing, and the two beloved icons they refer to as “Poppy” and “Memaw.”LET'S BE SOCIAL:Follow Tayla Lynn & Tre Twitty:Instagram - (@twittyandlynn)Facebook - (@Twitty and Lynn)Instagram - (@taylalynnfinger)Facebook - (@Tayla Lynn)X - (@taylalynnheller)TikTok - (@taylalynnofficial)Instagram - (@tretwitty)Facebook - (@Tre Twitty)Follow Diving in Deep Podcast:Instagram –(@divingindeeppod)TikTok – (@divingindeeppod)X – (@divingindeeppod)Facebook – (@divingindeeppod)Follow Sara Evans:Instagram – (@saraevansmusic)TikTok – (@saraevansmusic)Twitter – (@saraevansmusic)Facebook – (@saraevansmusic)Produced and Edited by: The Cast Collective (Nashville, TN)YouTube – (@TheCastCollective)Instagram – (@TheCastCollective)Twitter – (@TheCastCollective)Directed by: Erin DuganEdited By: Sean Dugan, Corey Williams, & Michaela Dolphhttps://www.thecastcollective.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
