When it comes to hot takes, the cream rises to the top shelf. If you like bad puns and heated debates, this is the Premier League podcast for you.
What up Premheads! Good luck pinning to any sort of reliable or reasonably cadenced schedule this year. Our agent told us the "hot" times to drop podcasts were as close to the begging and the end of Matchweek 3 in the Premier League to maximize the potential virality, whatever that means. In any case, we're looking back at our weeks old predictions for this season and musing on what we might have done differently before previewing a very early PDPL Bowl. Hope you enjoy listening to us again soon.
You might be wondering why we're dropping a season preview episode 2 weeks into the season, so to explain it, we've included a transcript of our convo with our former producer. Prem Daddies: Got some fresh content for you boss! Producer: Guys, this is a season preview episode but we're 2 weeks in. Prem Daddies: No doubt. Producer: Ok...also just looked at the date of the file, you recorded this 10 days ago? Prem Daddies: Yeah, had to let it stew. Producer: But that was after the first matchweek. You can't do a preview after something starts. Prem Daddies: Great things take time. Producer: Do I have this right? You're comparing teams to modes of transportation? Prem Daddies: Um, I'm sorry. Are you the one with 12 subscribers or are we? Ha. Producer: You guys have 8 subscribers. Prem Daddies: Cue the CSI Miami meme. Producer: I am never working for you guys again or my name is not Carl Mueller.
What's up Premheads! Our episode this week is a recap of the epic, sick, and twisted season that was the Premier League this year. We run through all the teams, plus we have a wild and wacky draft for the team of the season. You won't want to miss it! Ha. So great to be back with you this week with our weekly podcast as always that we do every week. Best of all, we get to do it with our favorites, The Premheads! Anyway, after you listen, catch us next week on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.
Well what do you know. We go and take a World Cup break and come back with the PDLP boys on top of the world. Fresh off a couple of derby drubbings, the Prem de la Prem Bowl has never had higher stakes. We get back into the swing with a top of the table (read: entirely self serving) breakdown before the big weekend.
Special episode for you folks. It's been difficult to come to terms with the World Cup this year. What comes as the biggest surprise, is it starts this weekend. We had no idea what we were getting into since they just plopped it on us right before Thanksgiving (thankful for the Premheads blah blah blah), so we turned to two of our experts to join us on this pod to break down what to expect out of each of the group.
It was the last day of the Premier League before Christmas, and somehow Piers Morgan is on my feed. It's especially curated for football this is nonsense! In any case, James and Patrick will discuss the oldest child in the world, but more importantly we'll try to digest what we're seeing out of a few key teams going into the World Cup break. Are Arsenal a title threat? Is Newcastle the real deal? Is Chelsea dead? A bit more as always before we get into a World Cup preview later this week.
With 2 feathery tunes to bid farewell to a couple of our lost managers, a hectic homecoming for Potter, and a few others playing a game of hot seat, we decided to focus this week on the men in the arena but not on the pitch. Managers are all the rage these days, and we're going through them like Arsene Wenger did zippers. We spotlight the most interesting and volatile managers in the league and set the stage for the end of the first wave of the season.
A lot can happen when we take 1 day between a record and an edit, and rarely does it make us look good. But come travel to a time before the sacking of Slippy G and play a game of stonks with the lads. Some stonks are already up, others already down, the journey is yours to decide. Who even knows what I'm talking about anymore? Diamond hands baby.
On the eve of the North London Derby and on the eve of the eve of the Manchester Derby, it's a different vibe around the PDLP studio. Nervy days ahead for our beloved sides with two massive games against Spurs and City respectively. But that's not all we're left to sort out. With the passing of Her Majesty, it allowed us the time to reflect on which teams need to buckle down the most between now and the World Cup to take control over their season.
Quite a bit to unpack on this week's episode. We of course have to get into the Prem de la Prem Bowl, but we also have Charlie Puth back on the payroll early into the season for a double feature. The sacking of Tommy Tuchel has left us both surprised, and quite frankly, a bit aroused. But what does it mean for Chelsea under the new regime? Last but not least, we get a cameo from a special guest that you won't want to miss.
Committed to bringing you content as fresh as stale bread, Patrick and James are back with another heater. Forget about the midweek games and the end of the window and dive into our Matchweek 4 recap where the lads try to sort out what's real, and what isn't, in this early season. Some of these takes have been proven wrong and others right already, so you won't want to miss it.
Sad boy James returns to talk about the latest debacle going on with Manchester United. Is it too soon to say Liverpool have lost pace in the title race? The boys discuss that, and the epic battle between Spurs and Chelsea. That and your normal segments on this week's PDLP.
We're here to overreact. You might be wondering what makes this episode special. This time we planned it you silly goose. We out on the Stephen A Smith suit and Skip Bayless Jordan's to get into our most reactionary and proactive thoughts from the first week of action.
What's up Premheads! We bring you a refreshed podcast with some refreshed hosts to get you in gear for the new season. We go through all of our predictions and we're really laying it out on the line. Don't forget to join the fantasy league before the season starts. Excited to be back with you all.
In a season full of ups and downs, it was only fitting that's how Matchweek 38 played out. Great drama at the top of the table distracted us from some more drama at the bottom. Are we pleased with the results? Also, how are we going to split up these awards this season? James and Patrick react to the craziness that was the final matchweek.
Let us waste no time with a lengthy, protracted, extensive, drawn-out, lingering, prolonged, interminable description. Get right into this pod before Championship Sunday to know how everything could shake out for the teams you love and hate.
With the title in the balance, many teams jockeying for position in Europe, and a frantic finish to avoid the final relegation spot all on the docket, we clearly have a lot to discuss. Tensions are high, stakes are higher, and we're honing in on the stories that matter for you, the Premheads.
What's that? An episode shorter than a Christopher Nolan film? I guess some things do change. We picked the 8 most interesting teams, posed some interesting questions, and probed some interesting topics. Hmm...interesting.
Are we taking crazy pills? That's the only way we're making sense of the decision to sack Sean Dyche at Burnley. We sent Charlie Puth on holiday for the year last time this happened, so we had to cook up a special surprise for you. This title race is on fire. We're starting to wonder if anyone is going to drop any points to close the year out. But, are we buying this as best rivalry in the EPL era? I can't believe we have to talk about the disgrace that is the top 4 race, but it is the give that keeps on giving. The top 4 is lava...as ever.
Premheads, we've taken some time over this break to really reflect. What is it about us that you truly love? We know it's not the tactical wisdom. We know it's not the playful banter. But we came to realize, what you really want -- or maybe need -- is our sage advice. So we've decided to reset the league into the home stretch by giving each of the 20 teams our advice. Legend has it one of these teams might just listen. We sure hope you do, friend.
So...we got some things we need to talk about. But before we bring up Chelsea's original Big Rom, we might just have ourselves a title race on our hands. City have dropped points while Liverpool have held the pace so it's opening back up. Plenty more to talk about as we head into the weekend before the final international break of the season.
We're hitting you on a Monday this week with some immediate reactions to Sunday's games. Some good, some bad, some in between, all must listen. Some teams win at Watford, some don't. Who's to say which is better? The table is starting to take shape, but still plenty to play for in these final weeks. Sadly we give to you the final See You Again of the Season (we hope) in our return to form this matchweek.
Well, what a long strange trip it's been. After a month hiatus, we are back to set the table for what is sure to be a hell of a race....for 4th place. That's right, we're back on our bullshit, talking about all that matters. We didn't forget to recap our beginning of the season predictions as well. Let's just say, we ruined some of our credentials. The AMA was a hit yet again -- hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
Manchester City may have all but secured the title already, but they still have to earn the respect of Jim Beglin. Speaking of dis-respect, you Premheads had some opinions on the Team of the Season (so far). That team is locked and ready to go, but it's tough to focus too long on that story when the keys of the Puthmeister start to sing. All that, and so much more, on this episode of Prem de la Prem.
New year, same us. You know the drill, Premheads. We're back with another classic. We have great games at the top of the table to discuss, a title race to mourn, and a Team of the Season (so far) to debate. And believe it or not, we'll actually need your help to round it out. Don't think we'll let you go without talking about some FREAKS. All eyes on Old Trafford and Big Rom, if you know what I mean. BING BONG!
Guess who's back, back again. Arsenal's back, tell a friend. Due to some imbalance in the games played and good fortune around the Emirates, Arsenal find themselves back in 4th place after a long hiatus. Are we moving the goalposts yet? Not to mention, COVID-19 is back like it never left and is making the FA look as sharp as ever. This could get really out of pocket really quick, so we're going to enjoy footy while we have it this festive season. Lot to muse about during all this chaos, so grab a hot chocolate and your favorite book, curl up by the fire and put that book down because it's PDLP time.
That's right folks, we're bringing you next day content after the Prem de la Prem Bowl. It's that episode that happens twice a year where we just shamelessly dive deep into our favorite fixture. James came out on top for the first time ever in a PDLP Bowl, and he isn't being shy about it. Patrick, on the other hand, comes off as very mature and composed. Gracious in victory and defeat, as it were. We'll be back with a full MW 14 & MW 15 recap after the weekend, but for now, enjoy our same day reaction to the game between Arsenal and Manchester United.
The See You Agains keep rolling, and so do the Prem de la Prem boys. Except this time, it's personal. James says his final words to Ole as he watches him step away from the wheel. Vibes FC is no more, but what will Ralf Rangnick bring to Old Trafford while he graces the touchline. Perhaps more importantly, what will happen after this season. United news leads the line, but plenty to talk about on this PDLP.
Is your favorite movie Groundhogs Day? Of course not. But how else do we explain 4 See You Agains in 2 episodes? I'll tell you who's not complaining - Charlie Puth after he sees those royalty checks. Anyway, we got Stevie G back, Dean Smith taking the shortest holiday possible, and Fat Frank taking Ls even without seeing the pitch. Don't think James is getting off the hook without commenting on the dumpster fire happening in Manchester right now. We debut a new seggy to get his thoughts on the matter. All that, and more things you didn't ask for inside this episode of PDLP.
It seems like it was just yesterday we were talking about Nuno being out of a job, but here we are again. He's not the only one this time, as our dear friend Steve Bruce joins him in the sack house. While Conte steals the headlines, Eddie Howe is a curious appointment for Newcastle. That and much much more, on Prem de la Prem.
What a long, strange ride it has been Premheads. We're finally at our 100th episode, a huge milestone, and one we couldn't have reached without you, the Premheads. For this episode, James and Patrick are doing a power hour with 100 takes to go along with it. Grab a beer, or 6, and try to keep up. It gets pretty out of pocket quick so good luck.
Oh to be a Gooner. North London has been painted red once again and spirts are soaring over at the Emirates. Is this a pivotal point in Arteta's reign? Or just a good result? Plus, James must answer for the weekend performance at Old Trafford, and boy does he have some thoughts. Few other shout outs and segments to get through in this fun, tight 45.
Pep may not be able to bring a Champions League to Manchester, but he can sure bring out some insecurities. We certainly wouldn't miss an opportunity to have a go at our friends up north. Other musings, regular segments, and a big week for the district round out this week's episode.
We're finally back from a chaotic international break with some Premier League action. CR7 resumed his Premier League career by just doing CR7 things. All the big dogs flexed on the rest of the league and continue to raise the bar. Are we buying anyone else to maintain the pace? And not only did Arsenal score a goal, they got a win and, according to some sources, have officially avoided relegation. Goal of the month and some of your other favorite segments round us out no this one.
CR7 has returned to Manchester United after 12 years and more La Liga trophies than Fergie himself could even dream of, and it's got one half of the pod absolutely buzzing. The other half, well, let's just say it's getting harder to trust the process. Big news, big games, and big decisions. We may be at our first international break, but we've earned it. Plenty to talk about, plenty deserving of pontification, and there used to be plenty of fish in the sea but overfishing has made that a thing of the past and it's threatening more than we can comprehend. Anyway, that's for a different podcast at a different time. It's transfer deadline day. We hope this episode gives you some respite from the F5ing.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the Premier League. Fans are back, refs swallowed their pride and their whistles, and the players put on a show. Not a single draw, goals galore, and plenty to talk about. We'll let you know what is a Red Alert and something you need to pay attention to, or a Red Herring and something that was simply just a fart in the wind. After last week, the district is a must-listen seggy. Enjoy.
Due to a "surprising lack of accountability" and being a "disgrace to podcasters everywhere", we decided to put together an episode to address the concerns of "our fans". Consider this our gift to you. Not only do we set the stage for the season and address the current transfer window, we put it all on the line this episode. From somewhat silly to downright deadly, we've got all our predictions for the season. Plus, we wouldn't dare send you into Matchweek 1 without a peek at the district.
What is Prem de la Prem if not a place to bring people together? If you guessed "still the greatest podcast on earth (by some metrics)", you're correct. But that's neither here nor there. We're thrilled to bring the three amigos back together again. We have Marc representing Spurs, Steve representing Leicester City, and of course our reigning fantasy champion Nigel representing Manchester United in a thrilling roundtable. We poured through expectations, disappointment, and even some technical challenges. If you fear this episode may be dull, let me assure you we earned out E for Explicit rating this go around. Hope you enjoy.
It's time to check in with some of our friends that represent the best London teams, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Spurs (in that order). Marcus (some legends call him Marshall), Carl, and Thomas return to spill the tea and banter endlessly. No such thing as an innocent comment with this group. Got a fun one - enjoy!
The Euros have come and gone, so now is the time for the autopsy. After nearly coming home, the trophy ended up in Rome with the Italians usurping England in an epic final. Obviously plenty of fallout to discuss, but also some highlights and fun moments to dive into. Before we get into the roundtables and a proper season preview, we wouldn't leave you without a pulse check on Fabrizio and all the latest moves and rumors in the transfer market.
Will all the real Premheads please stand up?! Nothing is more Prem de la Prem than a month long break right after the season ended with little to no communication. The real ones know, we would never leave you baby birds. We're here to feed you exactly what you need: a reset about what really matters from the people that matter to you the most. We're going to remind you how City won the title, try to remember how Liverpool got 3rd, and discuss the biggest bottlers. Superlatives never looked so good either. Who are our standouts of the year? I'm certain you'll disagree with some. Welcome back ya filthy animals.
Back with what may be the penultimate episode of the season, we're here to give something to root for down the stretch. Whether you believe it or not, there's plenty left to play for. The Champions League race is hot, the Europa League race may be hotter, but don't sleep on a legendary relegation battle down the stretch. Please, just believe in something, just this once. If you're curious about the current events at Old Trafford, we've got that covered as well.
No sense in beating around the bush, we just needed to talk about the Super League. Though it came and went within a couple of days, it really kicked up a storm while it was here. Can you guess what side of history the PDLP boys are on? Don't worry, we're not like the rest of the football media ignoring the real story. Let's dust off those ivory keys and say a very special see you again to our friend Jose.
They say distance makes the heart grow fonder, and boy did we miss you. What better way to come back than to just reset the table. We're going to run through the table, muse upon those teams and stories that deserve it and scoot right past those that don't. We also have some Cups to talk about. No need for a wrong written caption on this one I'm sure you've already started listening.
Time to dust off the wine cabinet and bring out the Ancelotti '99 because Everton has ended their drought against Liverpool and at Anfield in the same weekend. Delight and despair on full display on derby weekend leaving us plenty to go over. Are we ready to put some respect on West Ham and David Moyes? How about a real relegation fight? Are Fullham making a real run to stay up? Plus, a Men-of-Culture that will blow...your...mind.
Premheads!!! Mount up! We're back after a brief hiatus with some big news: Steve Bruce still has a job. We were trying to for back-to-back Puth episodes, but the original Slab Head showed us what he was all about over the last few weeks to save his bacon. Of course that's not all that's on the menu (settle down Steve, not that menu). Is the title race over? What about the drop zone? Can any of the 3 teams at the bottom claw their way out? We got that, and a whole lot more for you on this episode.
We welcome back Charlie Puth to the pod as we say our goodbyes (for now) to Frank Lampard. The Chelsea legend is out as manager after a year and a half, and Thomas Tuchel is in to replace him. After we pay our respects, we have a very important announcement to make. This year's table needs to be dissected, so we're here to let you know who of the oddballs is here to stay and what they're aiming for this season. Unless you're living under a rock, you know it's stonk season and the district is no stranger to explosive growth. Join us, for apes strong together.
As we reach the halfway point of the season (for most teams), we're not without things to talk about. How dire are the straits for Chelsea and Frank Lampard? Six points off the pace, do Liverpool need to be worried about a title defense? On the flip side, both Manchester sides and Leicester sat atop the table this week, are they all for real? Plus, a little spice was added to the relegation battle this week with some dubs from the zone. Can't wait to see how it plays out.
Happy New Year Premheads! We'd love to tell you what matchweek we're recapping here, but we honestly have no idea. Fixtures are coming hard and fast, matches are being postponed, and Arsenal are winning games. Who knows what to make of things right now. We can help you out a little bit though. We'll break down who is bringing it right now, who needs to bring it, and a few other talking points to set you up well for the next week of games.
Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals. You didn't think we'd let you go into boxing day without content, did you? This week we're putting some respect on our own name after a few big takes were validated. We also had two of the top teams in the league put on absolute shows over the weekend, but what does that tell us about them? We also have a couple FREAKS on the touchline that need our attention.
We hope you can find some time for us between all the fixtures these days, because we have a lot to talk about. We are coming to you basically live to break down the tango at the top of the table between Liverpool and Spurs - a game on everyone's mind. Plus, have we found more frauds in our midst?
